⚖️ My first law school acceptance news!

Gina, I have practiced law for twenty years. It is fun to watch you go through this process because it reminds me of when I was applying to law school and waiting to get in. I was very focused, competitive and intense, and those skills helped me immensely in getting from the LSAT to graduating and passing the bar. The most important wisdom that I could pass on to you is this. You have embarked on a series of marathons. The first is the LSAT, then admissions, then the first semester of law school, and then getting through the next three years. The marathons don't end there. Preparing for and taking the bar is also a marathon. Waiting for the results from the bar exam is a marathon of its own. And then, the toughest marathon of them all, actually practicing law. I think these videos will help you when you feel overwhelmed, as you will at some point, to remind you why and what you have already accomplished to get into law school. Absent quitting on yourself, you will do fine in law school. Everyone who gets admitted can get through the three years, if you just keep focused on the end goal. The other piece of wisdom that I wish someone would have told me, is to remember that you also need to take a break and enjoy life, while you are in law school. I was laser focused on getting through and did not allow myself the freedom to actually take a break and enjoy life. That was my biggest mistake, because you never get those years back. Take time for yourself and don't lose sight of the end goal. Enjoy the process from now until you are actually practicing. Best Wishes.

I didn't go to Georgetown but I went to law school in the UK during which I worked as a summer associated in the US. Some of my colleagues when I was in DC did go to Georgetown and from what they told me they have wonderful student programs to get hands on experience. Particularly one was a student attorney at the Domestic Violence Clinic in Georgetown which I found fascinating, it may or may not be what you want to do, but I heard that there is an abundance of opportunities which I'm sure you'll make the most of. Wishing you the best of luck for your journey ahead, I imagine it will be tough but I'm also sure you'll do a wonderful job.

oh wow, the interviewer talking about your English skills... * facepalm * I won't assume why he was surprised, but I guess in general, there's a lack of understanding that you can become fluent in English without living in a English-dominant area. Anyway, this vlog was almost like a TV show episode hahaha. A whole COVID-19 plotline and law school acceptance plotline! I'm happy you pulled through in the end and that you got into a school. Congratulations Gina ! I relate to you on different level. I'm finally realising my dream. In 2018, I got a bachelor degree in English in France. At that time, I had been depressed for 5 years. I couldn't stand it anymore. I was deceived by my experience in university and the opportunities that never happened. Plus, my love story with my ex-boyfriend was ending but I couldn't admit it. I was lost and ashamed. I felt I was a failure because I gave up on my will to be a teacher. I'm a very intuitive person so I did what felt right at the time but still I thought I made a mistake. Now, I know that I must always follow my intuition. I dropped out of college to think about what I really wanted to do in the future. I took a gap year. I began therapy. My love story ended. I passed my driving licence and I searched for a job. I babysitted and tutored a student in English. A first work experience. I thought that maybe university wasn't for me but working would be just fine. In parallel, I was determined to live in an other country and learn English. In April 2019, I got employed in a museum. Maybe I can make a career in tourism and culture. If not, I can still save money for my project. In the first month, I knew that this wasn't a career for me. I thought that I would stay for one year. 🤣 Of course, COVID had an impact. Today, it is almost 3 years later and I gave my resignation letter. I quit because I got a work-holiday visa to Canada. I will move in in Canada in July. For 4 years now, I've seen signs about Canada everywhere : in KZbin videos, in Korean dramas, in the streets, in books. Remember the girl I tutored? They immigrated in Canada in 2020. I've always believed that I will go there. I need to do something there but I still don't know what. Strangely, contrary to my nature, it doesn't stress me out. I feel serene. Like you, I thought I would scream, cry when I would read the words "congratulations I've been accepted". I read other and other the words. I made sure it wasn't a mistake. I just felt released. I was not making things up. Everything made sense and was at its place. I still shed one or two tears. Anyway, I wish you the best.

Oh wow - you will love Georgetown. Congrats!! I went to a summer program while in college at Georgetown. The area is so nice. I don’t live in DC but in MD- the DC MD VA area is so nice and there are many Koreans! Many Korean restaurants in VA and MD.

Congratulations! Georgetown has an excellent reputation for it's law school. Once you get your J.D. ,do you have to go through passing the equivalent of the American bar exam in Korea, or are you automatically accepted to practice law with your American bona fides?
