the second verse is talking about a gay man, he is a young james dean but would never fall in love with a girl (he could never love somebody's daughter) as James Dean did, and "football team, loved more than just the game" can be interpreted as the guy didn't join the football team just because he liked football and thought it would be fun, but because of a boy that he was in love with who was on the team (interpreted because of the next line, "so he vowed to be his husband at the altar). That's how I interpret the second verse, since the song is called "new americana" where america is changing, accepting the lgbtq community and gay rights, which goes with marriage, which is portrayed in this verse.

You should react to the room 93 ep There’s only 5 songs and you’ve already heard ‘hurricane’ and ‘ghost’. So that leaves, trouble (stripped), is there somewhere and empty gold. Trouble is just heart wrentching and the vocals are on point. Is there somewhere is a fan favourite about escaping reality essentially. And my personal favourite empty gold is like the ending to a movie of light twilight or a murder film where everyone but the main character dies and the ending is just them walking in the woods at night to this song covered in blood.

you’re exactly right about colors part 2 btw, it was made to be played live! Whenever she performs it actually it’s the intro to colors. You should really check out her badlands live from webster hall album (and possibly do a reaction to it too 👉👈)!! It’s SO good and she goes in to detail on the “talking breaks” tracks about THAT is how she meant for the album to be heard, how she performs it live. Even if you don’t make a video for it I really hope you check out the album. She put it out for 5 year anniversary of badlands this past summer and it gave everyone the concert experience they were missing during quarantine:) (it was recorded in may of 2019, the next night she performed HFK in full and when that show ended, she announced nightmare as her next single!)

Hey ! So, I've read the comments and here's a quick summary of recommended albums. I also put some personal suggestions. Feel free to do whatever you want with it ! - Halsey: of course, i really hope you'll react to hopeles foutain kindgom. It's personnally my favorite album from her. - AURORA: I don't know much of her music, but I know that her voice is phenomenal and from what I know, I think you would like it a lot. According to Spotify, she has four albums: all my demons greeting me as a friend, infections of a different kind (Step I & II) and WolfWalkers (if I'm wrong, feel free to correct me). - Britney Spears: I know you've said before that you don't plan to listen to her discography, but I'm sure you would like her projects. They do not all resemble her popular success and I think you should give it a try ! She has nine projects: ...Baby one more time, Oops... I did it again, Britney, In the zone, Blackout, Circus, Femme fatale, Britney Jean and Glory (I know there's a lot, so here's my personal favorites and which I think you would like: Oops... I did it again, Britney, Blackout and Circus). - Ellie Goulding: I'm sure you would like her projects, I really love her, especially her last one. She has four albums: Lights, Halcyon days, Delirium and Brightest Blue. - Camila Cabello: I love her and her projects are very good. I'm sure you'll like it (and I hope). She has two albums: Camila and Romance. - Sabrina Carpenter: One of my favorites artists ever. I know you already made a video on her, but I think you should react to her albums. She has four albums: Eyes wide open, EVOLution and Singular Act (I & II) + Honeymoon fades (this is a single, but I think you would like it). - 5 seconds of Summer: They are one of my favorite band and their music is amazing ! They have four albums: 5 seconds of summer, sounds good feels good, Youngblood and CALM (but I think you should focus on the two last albums. In my opinion, they are perfect). - MARINA: I really love MARINA and her projects and I'm sure you'll love her as well. She has four albums: The family jewels, Electra heart, Froot and Love + Fear. - Sasha Sloan: She is clearly underrated and she definitely have talent. She has an album: Only child. I'm not sure if she has an EP, but most of my favorite songs are not in the album (which is still amazing). - Charlotte Lawrence: She is a small artist, but she really deserve recognition. She doesn't have albums, but it would be fun if you do first time reaction video. - Tate McRae: Same as Charlotte Lawrence, but she has an EP: all the things I never said. But I think you should also react to her other songs that aren't in the EP. - Avril Lavigne: One of my favorite childhood artists. The style of her albums is different from one to another and that's really interesting. I really hope you'll like it. She has six albums: Let go, Under my skin, The best damn thing, Goodbye lullaby, Avril Lavigne and Head above water. - Ava Max: I really like this artist. She is an artist to know. She has only a album: Heaven & Hell. - SVRCINA: Clearly an underrated artist and I'm sure you would like it. She has three albums: Svrcina, Hearing colour and Elysian fields. - Florence + the Machine: i don't really know her projects, but she was recommanded. I'm not sure, but I think she has four albums: Lungs, Ceremonials, How big, how blue, how beautiful and High as hope. - Paris Jackson: she just released an album and I'm extremely surprised by it. I think you would like it. Her album is wilted. - Sevdaliza: I actually never heard of her, but she was recommanded. So, she has three albums: Ison, The Calling and Shabrang. So, I'm from Quebec (in Canada for those who don't know where it is) and I have two artists to suggest you. I really think you would love their projets. They both have amazing voices and I recommand them you at 100 % (and really for everyone though): - Charlotte Cardin: She doesn't have albums, but two EPs: Big Boy and Dirty dirty (her songs are mostly in english, but I think she has like two or three songs in french in her discography). - Alicia Moffet: She has an album: Billie Ave. Also, I think I should include her. She is not from Quebec, but from Belgium I think. - Angèle: her songs are in french, but if it doesn't bother you, you should really give it a try, she is absolutely amazing. She has two albums: Brol and Brol la suite (she also has a song with Dua Lipa if you want to give it a try). Sorry for the novel I just wrote, I had too many ideas (and I just realised that a pretty big sumarize, sorry for that). If you have any others ideas, you can add them in the comments. Keep up the good work Caitlin, I really love your reactions ! Have a nice day (and for everyone who read this post) !

I know this video is five days old, but I was scrolling through the comments and didn't see this tidbit posted here: "I Walk the Line" was originally recorded by Johnny Cash, a sort of country music icon, in 1956. Both his and Halsey's renditions are completely different and seem to even have different tones or meanings because of how they were performed/produced. I do prefer Halsey's cover, though. I was just never too fond of Cash's sound (though there are some songs of his that I really like).

i read once that the first half of the album is her being the protagonist and then at colors part 2 there’s a shift and the rest of the album is her as the villain
