One of the biggest things I hated when I was a military spouse was the fact that a lot of spouses used their husbands rank to feel like they were “better” than other spouses whom had husbands with lower ranks. Like... so annoying!!! I also hated the gossip in neighborhoods on post. And contract marriages are extremely illegal and could lead to that soldier being un honorably discharged from the military for good!!!

Ya getting marriage is privilege in the US Military. You do not live like a convict in the barracks, even the lowest rank enlisted gets a good home with the wife and usually child from his high school hook up and more money! I live for 3 years in the barracks and it sucked! I knew guys who had to live in a converted dayroom, and that is ridiculous! Now you folks get sprawling apartments and houses off-base!!

My husband is in the navy we have a child and have been together before he even went into the service. I just found out he has been cheating on me since day one multiple hidden accounts like tinder Snapchat and even a hidden phone he has been talking to thousands of females going to strip clubs when out to sea in Greece ect. His command has done nothing he has gotten a slap on the wrist for a domestic violence and burglary and his actions have been covered up. I am currently looking into a divorce. The military changed him and he is not the same.

Hang in there I’m sorry this is how your story ended up But I truly believe that there is a reason and it’s so hard to see that reason right now but it will come ! It’s been a long time coming I guess for him , that’s normally more of a big deal to the higher ups I’m surprised but also not the way they are handling it definitely reach out to his command maybe an see what they say about it don’t sit in silence that’s what they want and sadly expect I’d definitely make a seen if you want him punished for his actions! But hang in there girl I’m so sorry ❤️

I’m an Airforce wife and sadly since my husband has been in he’s been changing. He loves to go out more than spend time w me and our 4 m baby & it’s stressful bc I try to explain to him that sometimes when you’re married the worst thing to do is surround yourself around ppl who are single & just wanna have a good time bc temptation is beyond real. I love him but it’s getting tiring and lonely.

Don't loose hope. Your husband is definitely a hardworking and honest man. I am saying this because the US has the most active armed forces in the world. It has the largest no. of military bases in the world. This means that many US soldiers are posted abroad far from their homes. So to spend such a large amount of time away from home requires a great deal of commitment. I think a man who has such a high level of commitment will obviously be loving and caring to his family. Good luck to you😊.

@@alanamarie1428 Hi! That is so awesome, I'm so happy for you!! I honestly had forgotten I had written this comment 😅 I didn't know the guy for long and he was extremely abusive.. more physically than anything. I broke up with him when I also found out he was cheating on me. It's ok though because we were just not meant to be together at all. So I never did say yes to marrying him of course. Even if he hadn't cheated or abused me, I still would've said no. I truly wish I had some great advice and tips for you, but sadly I'm not sure I can help with how my situation turned out =( But what I will say is please, don't let him convince you into marriage. I of course have no idea how long you two have been together, but either way, listen to your gut feeling. Always. Your gut feeling knows better than even your own heart. Ask yourself those very important questions of, is he really the right one? Do we know each other that much? Is it the right time for both of us? Does he truly love me or is he only wanting to get married because if you're married in the military, he gets a buttload of money compared to if he's single? (Which that last question was the only reason my exboyfriend wanted to marry me.. that's why I put that one there) You of course don't have to answer those questions to anyone but yourself.. but think hard about it. If you have any doubt or hesitation, just wait. If he truly is the right guy for you, he'll wait for you and understand how you feel. He will never try to control or manipulate you into marrying him. With all that being said (I'm sorry this turned out long 😅) But whatever happens, I truly wish the best for you girl! I do hope it works out for the both of you, but if it doesn't, in the end, it would all be for the best in some way. If you don't mind, I'd love to be updated on what happens, but it's alright if you don't! 😄 I apologize that I may have not helped any in this message 😅

I’m sorry you’ve had such a rough time! I’m an Army wife as well. For 13 years now. Hopefully you’ll experience better posts. We’ve always had amazing doctors (with the exception of Fort Bliss! Haha). It can be hard making friends who have the same values as you. Really hard. I find that to be the hardest thing. Commissary baggers only work for tips. Nothing else. FRG leader here and I hate the negative stigma of it but those stigmas come from past bad experiences! Not all FRG’s are drama free which is so sad. We need FRG to help make those connections with other wives. 13 years and I still don’t know every abbreviation 😂 There are so many positive things about being a military spouse as well! It isn’t all negative ☺️

Baggers at the commissary work for TIPS. You are usually asked if you want a bagger and or if you need help out to your car. IF they bag your groceries they are not paid unless the customer tips them. Same for help out to your car. Tip is their pay.

God bless you. Being a military wife is so hard. I was married at 21 and I told my husband straight up (before we got married) I am not having kids until you are done serving. This was during early 2000s when there were a lot of deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan but I did not want to be the wife at home raising kids by herself during wartime. I couldn't do it. We waited 14 years to have kids and I don't regret it!

We have spent so much money on the military. I know that these heroes are paid badly, but this country could do better for their families. I never knew that all these wives didn't get a long. It made me feeling relieved that I never joined the military. If we spent all of our time and energy for the military. The last thing we shouldn't be worried about is our family. The military has enough resources in the world to get involved in other countries problem. They should have plenty of resources to take care of these families.

I totally agree with you on the people getting married only for the money, my husband been in for 6 years and we’ve seen so many people get married and then not long down the road get divorced either they wanted the money or they just wanted to get out of the dorms! Luckily my husband and I at the time were Dating for almost 2 years before he even thought or decided to join the military. We got married after he got out of bmt and tech school and then moved out to Colorado.

you are amazing! You clarified a lot to me, honestly. My boyfriend is in the military and he is being deployed in Europe right now. I love him so much and I would love to move to the U.S with him, so he would like me too, but I am just so scared and extremely afraid that I am going to be depressed and lonely for most of the time because he can be sent somewhere for a year or more and I will not possibly take it. This is really breaking me. I am so lost. I really don't know what to do. Military guys don't have the best opinion overseas. Most of them cheat on the wives (husbands) out here and I think I just want to protect myself from that. Obviously, what is there for you is there for you. If he/she is going to cheat on you, he/she would. Doesn't matter if its in Europe or somewhere else. But it is just more possible. I am so lost and confused ;c

I agree! I'm only watching this because I grew up as a military brat and don't think I'll mind marrying into the military since it's pretty familiar to me. One thing that my own mother did is she became a healthcare worker at one of the base's clinics. So while she's a civilian, she works under the DoD. It's a great foot in the door since you're in their database (background checks and all that jazz) and you can get benefits from the job! It's easier to transfer from base to base that way :)

My fiance just got deployed and is on the plane to Fort Leonard Wood currently and is 31b in the Army. We are doing the same as you and your husband, getting married once he completes BCT. We came from the bottom as well years ago and I even got him through his MEPS process when he was so close to failing. He was saying hundreds of military terms before he left so I'm making sure I have All knowledge required before I go. Lol. I figured some military wives were catty so I will definitely take my friend making and isolation skills from the civilian word with me so I can feel people out correctly. I also figured all those benefits wouldn't be available to me or our soon coming children as described. I'll be taking my career with me and working from home so hopefully I won't be too lonely because I definitely want to keep myself busy, still bringing in some money because it's sad how our soldiers don't get paid as well as I think they should. Been married to my husband four years and just had to ask him what an FRG was, because we have yet to be stationed at an actual active duty base. 😅 Will say - if you're not near a base, they put you on Tricare Remote, which allows you to basically see anyone, as long as you've gotten a referral from your (civilian) PCP. If you are in this situation, don't squander it - especially when it comes to getting things diagnosed (and thoroughly documented).

I'm scared... I'm an architecture student, 2 years to graduate. My boyfriend just graduated in architecture and has been working for a firm for 3 months. He got tired of it and told me he wants to be in the military. (We have been in this relationship for 5 years) So I decided to be very supportive and started to watch these kinds of videos so I could learn what to expect. I'm good with everything except the fact that I'll be alone in the relationship after Basic training. We talked a long time ago about marriage but decided to do so after I graduate from university. I'm worried cuz I do have a mental illness (depression and Social anxiety) and I'm scared of getting worse just by thinking that my best friend is not anywhere near me and I'll be alone for who knows how long.

If I may, I like to say some things from the other side of the spectrum, the servicemen's side at least on my experiences. I served from 2004-2010, two deployments, one duty station outside US. You have to understand the military is a different beast than the civilian world. The military runs on a hierarchical class structure, hence the ranking system. Its a remnant of the aristocratic class structure of old monarchies(the time of lords and ladies). Thats why enlisted and officers have there own command structures with officers being on top. All professional militaries in the world function the same way. This means one thing: RANK MAKES RIGHT. NO "IFs, ANDs, or BUTs". Unfortunatlly, this can create a toxic environment rife with bullying, especially on the lower enlisted. Although not always the case as no two duty stations, divisions, even companies are run the same. More on this later. Tho not all FRGs(Family readiness group) are the same, the ones I encountered have been toxic. I recommend that military wives/husbands fall back more on old family members and friends if possible. Adultery its a epidemic in the military on both sides. Not counting the contact marriages, imo most are doomed to fail from the start. I'm referring to those that married or dated their HS sweetheart then all hell cometh over and changed that person seemingly overnight. Let me tell you the amount of peer pressure for me and my wife to cheat on each other was overwhelming. I was treated as lesser of a man for not doing it by my teammates and leaders. My NCO tried for weeks to convince me that "My wife hates me" and he "knew her better than I ever will". Despite the fact that he never met her face to face. He even went as far as to wrote me up for disagreeing with him, on the grounds of "disrespecting an NCO". After all that, the only thing that stopped me was my religious upbringing and the fact I'm a product of adultery. So I had a deep despise the practice. The military spouses too they get bombarded to cheat on their significant husbands while on deployment from neighbors, some FRG members, other military wives. The whole thing is just out of control. From what I encountered, and this goes to both the Military member and spouse, if your "friends" take you to a club/bar for a girls/guys night out. In this environment, 8/10 they are deliberally trying to put you in a position to make you cheat on your spouse. Both of you, think about it. How much would you trust a person that working at a strip club when they met their husband or some guy whose maturity never left high school? Now bear in mind the military does not sanction this practice and has actually spent a considerable amount of money trying to combat it. It just so ingrained in the culture it just gets pushed back on the mid to even high levels before we even see it from the bottom. Let me tell you that this was especially hard on deployments. Your military Sig Other is going to spend a considerable amount of time with his unit compared to his spouse and children. Especially when they are in life threatening environments, they are going to bond more with their comrades than their families. Thats just how the human mind works. I recommend to sit down with their military SO and have a long discussion about this. Its not garented to make a difference but I recommend a serious discussion and gentaly remind him of his duty is to his family as well as the military withen reason. What to do when they conflict, which will happen.

I am terrified of military life but would do anything for my soon to be husband. We love each other so much but the main thing I am terrified of is judgement. The judgment from family, other military members, spouses, etc. do you have tips on how to manage that or keep it minimalistic. Or advice for a girl that really loves her fiancé and just wants to support him and his goals while doing good for myself at the same time and my future family. If that makes sense?

We never did live on post though because Bragg housing is awful! Mold in a lot of homes, that don’t get fixed by the government even after a million complaints. But I did like our hospital ( Womack ). Very nice hospital.
