I have softened on Evan Chen's score and appreciate that there are several moments in which it does click into place for what this film and Crusade were going for especially the mystical vibes. It's commendable that JMS wanted a new feeling after B5 and was willing to let an upcomer like Evan Chen have a shot even if it didn't immediately pay off. Perhaps if more time was had Chen could have found the footing, let's not forget that even Franke took a dozen episodes or so to cut it out with his distracting choices like the comedy stings. Although not beloved in this place it seems like Evan was a pretty respectable figure in other music places and found his groove and heck I think he does within Crusade. Sadly Evan Chen is another member of the B5 production that's no longer with us but you can find his streams and work very easily on KZbin.

You guys weren't paying attention to Galen, when he "overdid it" and when he didn't. He was deliberately overemphasizing things for dramatic effect. Think about when he's about to end their first contact ("we should go; I don't think they can detect my probe"), or most of the Drakh-plot exposition. It's much more normal. Think also about how Michael Ansara did the original Elric in Season 2; it was very similarly dramatic. Jeff needs to get his hands on the Passing Of The Techno-Mages book series; it's centered on Galen. Dareena didn't break the cuffs; she picked the locks without anyone noticing. I think the Drakh plan was that they would use the planet-killer and plague to decapitate the ISA, then push the Centauri to become the ascendant power of the galaxy. They chose to use the plague on Earth because, as the show has said so many times, Humans and how they build communities are the glue that will hold the other races together; given time, the Minbari will turn insular again on their own. Sheridan asked Delenn in the future if he could change things; and then went to Z'Ha'Dum to try and change it, even though she said he couldn't. He may think he DID change things, and therefore nothing he saw is reliable. The ISN anchor was talking about a new memorial for the Telepath War being built. And we knew Garabaldi wouldn't die, because he's in Sleeping In Light 10 years later. 65

It has been a while since I watched Call to Arms but I am fairly sure the thieves guild leader was meant to be blind (hence the "cool" shades indoors). He had delayed reactions to events happening around him and had a lackey on his shoulder whispering explanations for what he couldn't see. My main gripes with the Thieves Guild are the on-the-nose name and that they got spun out of whole cloth in this one movie. As strange as this may sound, this movie was my introduction to Babylon 5. I saw this movie first in the early 2000s and i was a fan of Tony Todd from Star Trek and the Night of the living dead so I figured I would give the movie a try. I Was so intrigued by the characters and the story and the ships that I just had to learn more about this Babylon 5 show. So I bought all five movies on DVD and watched them all. Then I started watching the show about a year after. I remember as a teenager in the 90s, at the height of TNG. I turned to the wrong channel by mistake and saw a glimpse of a low budget show called Babylon 5, and that made me not want to watch it. Random comments: Welcome to TNT meddling with the series. Looking for ways to create spinoffs, new characters, and tweaking the writing. Read more about it after you watch Crusade. Some of the major issues that contributed to the failure of Crusade and B5 on TNT The main gun on the new ships fire in the same way the Vorlon ships did. Watch a battle with Vorlon ships and you'll see the similarities. Based on Vorlon tech which humans cannot fully copy/understand. Build our best engine, but still not enough. One thing that is different in this movie and Crusade - all the ship sets have ceilings. Major change to how you then have to shoot the show. Peter Woodward is Edward Woodward's son. Oddly, his role grew on me over the course of the season.

@hornorsilk2901 he DIDN'T choose to end the show, at least not in the way you think. TNT wanted to make the show "Baywatch meets the WWE in space" and JMS got fed up with their meddling and refused to kowtow to it anymore. The network executives then told him "Do what we say, or we'll cancel it right now!" JMS refused to compromise his artistic integrity. Back in the day when this was happening, JMS was very active on the old USENET chat boards, frequently conversing with the fans in real-time. When Crusade was released on DVD, JMS only agreed to do commentary on the stipulation that he could say whatever he wanted, but WB ended up removing any negative comments regarding TNT...

@@ii77ss I posted a longer main post about this earlier, but it appears to have either failed to post or has been removed, possibly because I included a URL, possibly because I referenced a Patreon post I wasn’t supposed to. Either way, I’ll risk getting this post removed by saying that I have good reason to believe that, unless the guys have changed their mind, they are not watching in broadcast order, but are following a revised order that just happens to have Warzone as episode 1. The order you posted is the order JMS provided to the Sci Fi channel for their repeat broadcasts of the show. This order contains a number of story continuity issues, and a new JMS-endorsed episode order was created for the Babylon 5 chronology published in the B5 Magazine and B5 Chronology book. This “JMS Chronological” order is the one the guys have indicated they will be following (again, assuming they haven’t change their minds since mentioning it). It doesn’t fix all of the continuity issues from the “JMS Sci-Fi Channel Order”, and there is a subsequent, non-JMS approved, order with additional tweaks to fix one of the most glaring continuity issues that does remain. However, here is The “JMS Chronological” episode order: 1. Episode 1 2. Episode 2 3. Episode 8 4. Episode 10 5. Episode 11 6. Episode 9 7. Episode 12 8. Episode 13 9 Episode 4 10 Episode 6 11 Episode 5 12 Episode 3 13 Episode 7

SciFi message - We're all hooped! 🐒 - OK, maybe not, but perhaps if we are careless ... semi-seriously: go back to the 1800s and no matter what we did, it could lead to a few bad years of conflict but that's all. Now, in the early 1900 [circa WW1] it was possible for humanity to do a LOT more damage, but still, no matter how hard we tried we could not have done enough harm for the impact to last more than a few decades. Move on to the mid 1900s and we reached the point that we actually have done enough harm to impact us for a century or more. Today - we have the ability to end humanity. Not saying it is likely - it would take a madman who was being support by a lot of equally crazy people ... but as we move on, it becomes easier for fewer people to do greater harm. So, the message: As we gain more knowledge it becomes ever more important that we evolve as a world wide society so that we avoid ending ourselves. It isn't uplifting, it's more causionary, but it IS important.
