The technomages we saw in “The Geometry of Shadows” were going away somewhere for safety purposes, but Elric expresses that the mages would be back again in the fairly distant future, that’s not the same as going “beyond the Rim”.

I have softened on Evan Chen's score and appreciate that there are several moments in which it does click into place for what this film and Crusade were going for especially the mystical vibes. It's commendable that JMS wanted a new feeling after B5 and was willing to let an upcomer like Evan Chen have a shot even if it didn't immediately pay off. Perhaps if more time was had Chen could have found the footing, let's not forget that even Franke took a dozen episodes or so to cut it out with his distracting choices like the comedy stings. Although not beloved in this place it seems like Evan was a pretty respectable figure in other music places and found his groove and heck I think he does within Crusade. Sadly Evan Chen is another member of the B5 production that's no longer with us but you can find his streams and work very easily on KZbin.

I think you might be underthinking the War Without End future thing. Sheridan did see the future, but he also thought he changed it. He was told that the allies of the shadows destroyed Centauri Prime, NOT the Narn/Drazi. Sheridan doesn't think he's in the WWE future anymore, even though we are.

You guys weren't paying attention to Galen, when he "overdid it" and when he didn't. He was deliberately overemphasizing things for dramatic effect. Think about when he's about to end their first contact ("we should go; I don't think they can detect my probe"), or most of the Drakh-plot exposition. It's much more normal. Think also about how Michael Ansara did the original Elric in Season 2; it was very similarly dramatic. Jeff needs to get his hands on the Passing Of The Techno-Mages book series; it's centered on Galen. Dareena didn't break the cuffs; she picked the locks without anyone noticing. I think the Drakh plan was that they would use the planet-killer and plague to decapitate the ISA, then push the Centauri to become the ascendant power of the galaxy. They chose to use the plague on Earth because, as the show has said so many times, Humans and how they build communities are the glue that will hold the other races together; given time, the Minbari will turn insular again on their own. Sheridan asked Delenn in the future if he could change things; and then went to Z'Ha'Dum to try and change it, even though she said he couldn't. He may think he DID change things, and therefore nothing he saw is reliable. The ISN anchor was talking about a new memorial for the Telepath War being built. And we knew Garabaldi wouldn't die, because he's in Sleeping In Light 10 years later. 65

It has been a while since I watched Call to Arms but I am fairly sure the thieves guild leader was meant to be blind (hence the "cool" shades indoors). He had delayed reactions to events happening around him and had a lackey on his shoulder whispering explanations for what he couldn't see. My main gripes with the Thieves Guild are the on-the-nose name and that they got spun out of whole cloth in this one movie. If they are as so pervasive and dangerous as suggested, why were they never mentioned in any previous episode or film?

You may want to put a kybosh on the whole 're-score' of that battle scene. There was a guy that was upscaling individual episodes of B5 into 4K, and updating all the CGI into super high detail... an Warner Bros dropped a cease and desist on him. The material that he did though, looked damn nice...

The Passing of the Technomages trilogies explains things about the Technomages. It happens during the first four seasons of B5, and explains what the Technomages were up to, and they were much more involved in the story in the background, and a lot of misdirection was going on in the one episode we saw with them.

As strange as this may sound, this movie was my introduction to Babylon 5. I saw this movie first in the early 2000s and i was a fan of Tony Todd from Star Trek and the Night of the living dead so I figured I would give the movie a try. I Was so intrigued by the characters and the story and the ships that I just had to learn more about this Babylon 5 show. So I bought all five movies on DVD and watched them all. Then I started watching the show about a year after. I remember as a teenager in the 90s, at the height of TNG. I turned to the wrong channel by mistake and saw a glimpse of a low budget show called Babylon 5, and that made me not want to watch it. I’m really glad I stumbled onto the call to arms because that started my journey through Babylon 5. Now I’ve seen the series almost 3 times. Still love it.

I've always thought that Peter Woodward was channeling his inner Nicol Wlliamson when he played Galen. Williamson played Merlin in the 1981 film "Excalibur". Certainly his fluctuating volume and robustness of speaking mimicked much of Williamson's odd vocal inflections in that role.

Random comments: Welcome to TNT meddling with the series. Looking for ways to create spinoffs, new characters, and tweaking the writing. Read more about it after you watch Crusade. Some of the major issues that contributed to the failure of Crusade and B5 on TNT The main gun on the new ships fire in the same way the Vorlon ships did. Watch a battle with Vorlon ships and you'll see the similarities. Based on Vorlon tech which humans cannot fully copy/understand. Build our best engine, but still not enough. One thing that is different in this movie and Crusade - all the ship sets have ceilings. Major change to how you then have to shoot the show. Peter Woodward is Edward Woodward's son. Oddly, his role grew on me over the course of the season.

I hope you guys go on with Crusade! It was a really troubled production at the time, as you already mentioned the soundtrack sort of sucked (but it actually grew on me… it‘s sort of like a ticking clock) and the CGI is horrible. But I loved the characters and the story had great potential. There are 3 unfilmed episode scripts out there. After I read those, I was really sad about the cancellation: the potential exciting future storylines became more transparent.

@hornorsilk2901 he DIDN'T choose to end the show, at least not in the way you think. TNT wanted to make the show "Baywatch meets the WWE in space" and JMS got fed up with their meddling and refused to kowtow to it anymore. The network executives then told him "Do what we say, or we'll cancel it right now!" JMS refused to compromise his artistic integrity. Back in the day when this was happening, JMS was very active on the old USENET chat boards, frequently conversing with the fans in real-time. When Crusade was released on DVD, JMS only agreed to do commentary on the stipulation that he could say whatever he wanted, but WB ended up removing any negative comments regarding TNT...

ITB has to be number 1 as a part of the main arc. call to arms, river of souls, and third-space are kinda interchangeable imo depends what you like, they are all like feature episodes in different B5 eras. this one is a tricky one, cos it does have some good b5 stuff in it, but it also has a lot of crusade in it, which takes away... 50/50. at least you can watch Star Wreck: In The Pirkining now :D

I thought that Drakh plan was quite logical - they went for Earth first, then wanted to take out Minbar, and Centauri were needed as a base for a long term operation. Music really sucks, it gives the inexperienced student trying stuff in his first year of practicing music. I don't know why JMS approved of it other then budget reasons. The order you posted is the order JMS provided to the Sci Fi channel for their repeat broadcasts of the show. This “JMS Chronological” order is the one the guys have indicated they will be following (again, assuming they haven’t change their minds since mentioning it). По-моему, вы забыли об еще одном полнометражном (6-м) фильме из "Вавилона 5": "Легенда о рейнджерах" ("The Legend of the Rangers"?)

SciFi message - We're all hooped! 🐒 - OK, maybe not, but perhaps if we are careless ... semi-seriously: go back to the 1800s and no matter what we did, it could lead to a few bad years of conflict but that's all. Now, in the early 1900 [circa WW1] it was possible for humanity to do a LOT more damage, but still, no matter how hard we tried we could not have done enough harm for the impact to last more than a few decades. Move on to the mid 1900s and we reached the point that we actually have done enough harm to impact us for a century or more. Today - we have the ability to end humanity. Not saying it is likely - it would take a madman who was being support by a lot of equally crazy people ... but as we move on, it becomes easier for fewer people to do greater harm. So, the message: As we gain more knowledge it becomes ever more important that we evolve as a world wide society so that we avoid ending ourselves. It isn't uplifting, it's more causionary, but it IS important.

"In order for it to be music there have to be notes and a melody" No, this is very much not true lol. I hate the Call to Arms soundtrack as much as the other guy, but this idea of music you're putting forward is quite outdated and a bit eurocentric.

This. The music isn't "bad" as many people describe it. It's experimental (in western television) and different. It wasn't the time or place for it, I don't believe, but it wasn't "bad" as the term is generally understood.

The Rangers with the Whitestars are the ones who get leads on a cure. Then the Excalibur goes in to see what pans out. This is my favorite B5 movie. However, it's sad that the ISAS (EAS) Excalibur takes over the position of the EAS Agamemnon as the top tier ship in the B5 Universe. The following is meant for people 18 years and older. If you are not 18, do not read beyond this point. You've been warned. My favorite Sean. (Paraphrasing) Dorina Male Drozzy's have a pouch underneath the left arm pit.
