⚡ 💀 💕 / 🏃‍♀👹 As you presumably noticed, this was a compilation video. The footage was from LEGEND 1999, LEGEND 1997, BUDOKAN RED NIGHT, BUDOKAN BLACK NIGHT, MAKUHARI MESSE 2014, YOKOHAMA 2015, MAKUHARI MESSE 2015, SSA 2015, WEMBLEY ARENA and TOKYO DOME RED NIGHT. The audio was from WEMBLEY ARENA and TOKYO DOME RED NIGHT. At least they got the correct Kami Band members in the solo footage. : )

Welcome back, great reaction.🦊What was that you said about this could almost be like a rough cut, proof of concept. That describes the album versions of most of the songs - on the first two albums at least ... you don't get to hear (and see) the real thing until you see and hear it played live. At least the compilation you picked to watch wasn't such a bad one - there is a really bad compilation with even more views - if you had just gone down 3 more thumbnails you would have got a full live performance (with another Kami Band intro) from Budokan 2014. 'Catch Me If You Can' is the best metal song about playing a game that's a sort of cross between tag, blind man's bluff and hide & seek I've ever heard. It is the perfect mix of the two extremes with the brutal instrumentals and the sweet vocals - and the game they are playing, they're playing with an Oni 👹(a sort of Japanese ogre popular in regional festivals and used specifically to frighten children ... which amuses me probably more than it should😁). The growling vocals (they are on a backing track as usual of course) are the Oni👹 asking things like "Are you ready?" and the best response has to be "Maada da yo" (No, not yet) while doing a running away from an Oni dance.🏃‍♀🏃‍♀🏃‍♀👹 Oh yes - Kami Band East in this one, BOH plays a 6 string bass and is a bassist - it was the Kami Band West on 'Kagerou' with Clint Tustin, a guitarist, on bass.

It's a mix of multiple different Japanese childrens' games that all involve Oni.

@@Grington300 I could cheat and look it up. But the song primarily has hide and seek mixed with tag. Hide and seek I believe is kakerenbo and tag is Oni Gakki? But that could be wrong. But I think there are more games too. 'Come towards my clapping' I think is another game. I know there are more Oni games. Babymetal played an Oni version of Red Light Green Light on that Japanese TV show. Su was the Oni.

@@Grington300 Tag in Japanese is "鬼ごっこ" (Onigokko). Hide and seek in Japanese is "かくれんぼ" (Kakurenbo). According to chat GPT. I was off but close :) I like Oni Gakki better. That should be the name. Gakki is brat. Oni Gakki would be monster and brat lol. Oni famously eat bad children. In 'The Promised Neverland ' Oni ate the children first with low test scores.

Great reaction, thanks and welcome back! Wow! It's been a while since the last time I listened to the studio version. And yes, it sounds almost like a demo or something, haha... I guess the "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! It's so good!" means that you enjoyed it. 😁 "Catch me if you can" was my very first BABYMETAL song and it got me hooked from the first moment. You are quite right that CMIYC is one of the very early Babymetal songs, so the transitions between the metal and the kawaii are less seamless than later songs.

Given that Legend MM is for her, I'd wager she will have some input into the setlist, so there is a chance we might get a blast from the past like we did at Clear Night.

Nice one, their older stuff is definitely more of a juxtaposition by design, especially due to their age back then. Also, despite being an awesome song, it’ll be kinda weird watching mid-20 year olds dance hide and seek and sing about a children’s game now lol. It really worked wonders when they were younger, probably why this song has not been performed since 2017. Also, you almost had it too. Saw that mouse cursor hover over the Budokan Black Night version, but it went to the compilation… 🤦‍♂️🤣

Thanks for this reaction. The start of the song was so ominous that the other girls could scare Yuimetal with it in the studio, by replaying it. 10:57 and only uses it ones ! All their stages are used only ones, or maybe multiple days, Babymetal does NOT travel with their stages. It's a cost they don't seem to want to bare. 12:20 actually BOH always played bass. Such an amazing live song ! 🙂

@@Jordan-Ramses a more optimistic take might be that a large part of their intent is to interact a lot with audiences. I rarely see performers spend so much time doing that. There's also their dancing, which for me makes the singer bigger.
