PrepsterM technically it wasn’t her first time at a metal concert, it is more a general song for girls who might be going to their first metal concert. The song is about going to the concert on a 15th birthday, which is a very significant birthday in Japan. You have to remember, by the time she was 15, she had headlined metal concerts in Asia and opening for a couple of big metal bands there, too. Plus that song came out when she was 14, so it couldn’t be autobiographical.

This video is so great. Its so rare to see such candid stuff from them....doing a non-japanese cover song, fully lit where you can really see them, no choreography, Su freely moving around the stage, Su openly talking to the crowd in a natural way....thats all so rare but wonderful to see. They are so charming. Dont get me wrong, i think the general very scripted approach is important for their performances and I dont mind it mostly. In fact, I dont want them to be like this most of the time, their choreographed shows are special and unique but this stuff needs to be sprinkled in to give fans a taste of their real personality and prescence. it feels like for whatever reason, the BM of 2018 and beyond doesnt believe in being candid and relatable anymore. Literally everything is short, overly scripted, and disconnected from the fans. Videos like this let the fans see them as real people, not robots. It makes them more endearing which actually improves our connection to them when doing their rehearsed and scripted performance. I hope things like this return in 2019.
@alexthomas37455 жыл бұрын
Very well said. That's so true. Scripted choreography is ok for the show (the girls have a top stage presence, dancing, singing and jumping around) but also the genuinity is very important, the improvisation, you know what i mean... Because it shows us all real theirself, how cute and polite they are. That's why Su,Yui and Moa came in our hearts forever. :)

Yes, but you have to understand. That's how it is done in Japan...for all genres. The companies there want the artist they invest money and time into, to be (for lack of a better word) professional. Everything must be done specific and exact. While for fans in western countries (North America and Europe), it seems a bit distant and homogenous. In Japan though, the music industry has certain codes of ethics they have to strictly adhere to... especially in idols culture. Metal and Rock aren't immune to it either, and those are supposed to be two genres that are the least able to be made homogenous.

That look they give him when he comes out with a freaking cake is great, just pure shock from something you wouldn't necessarily expect on stage of all places, they don't know how to react to it and you can tell it isn't a fake reaction. She must have been overjoyed once the realization hit. Also, did anybody else catch the girls chattering off the microphones that were apparently still live when he first came out? I heard a Sugoi in there, I think it was one of the other two, not Su-metal since she had her mouth covered. 6:26

Also at 6:16 Su said Moa because she was definitely in shock and Moa was her go to like wtf is happening. It is so adorable. These girls have experienced so much outside of their culture and things like this that we may take for granted in our culture is a complete shock to their system. Something like this for them would be done in private, not on a stage.

Thisl performance makes me realize that they have come a long way and truly appreciate the genre they have taken on. They are true metal artists.
@charlesedwards28564 жыл бұрын
I love the follow-up to your brief story about them being shocked. When they met Metallica and found them to be so nice and sweet, then were invited to watch the guys play from the side stage and the girls saw that these men who were so lovely to them had flipped into these intense, seemingly angry musicians. That’s when it clicked for them that metal music isn’t about being angry or hurt and screaming all the time, it’s a performance/act/show...something they all knew about doing while in Sakura Gakuin. From then on out, they understood what it was to be a metal band a lot better...they didn’t have to be angry all the time (I think it’s physically impossible for Moa to go more than five minutes without smiling), but they needed to bring it when it mattered. That’s why Su went from the smiley girl in their first couple music videos to being very serious with the death stare that would melt tungsten (yes, I had to look up what metal has the highest melting point for this because, damn it, it’s accurate!) for so long.

Sino miren a Chad Smith. The girls are genuine and they are professionals, but their music is produced. I see no issue with this, but many people are under the opinion that the singers are supposed to have written all the lyrics and composed the songs themselves. But even is so called garagebands, it isn't always the singer that write all the songs nor is it even a case where all the members work together to make a song. Many times it is the drummer or the keyboardist that write the songs or even the guitarist. But these girls are genuine and they are friends. If you look at the small interactions they have that are supposed to be hidden from the audience, how they play practical jokes on one another and what not, while that stuff theoretically _could_ have been produced considering how hidden it is from view it seem very unlikely.
