I think this song and ‘Pa Pa Ya’ are pretty much what they were set out to be: uncomplicated happy songs to get fans at home and at concerts moving. Once in a while that’s all ya need, and in these cases, mission accomplished. 🦊

I like Da Da Dance far more than I would have ever imagined but it still doesn't rank in the top 50% of all their songs. I do have to admit the pure energy from this song sucks me in. They will always have their party songs like Gimme Chocolate, Pa Pa Ya, and Da Da Dance along with deeper songs and downright weird songs, so you just have to take each song for what it is. I would consider myself a Babymetal fan (I don't listen to much else these days) - and I don't think I can argue or disagree with anything you said about 'Da Da Dance'. If anything you were less sceptical about this song on your first listen than I was (but I didn't have the visuals of a live performance to help). It won't be one of my favourite Babymetal songs I think, but the more I have listened to the album and, more importantly I think, having seen and heard a real live performance, I have come around to liking it. The same goes for two or three tracks on this album for me - it is an album of two distinct halves with the first half focusing more on electronic and pop styling, the second half (which I still prefer although the first has a couple of great tracks) getting back to the metal side of what they do. The video shows footage from the shows at The Forum in LA in Octobder (octagonal stage) and Osaka Jo Hall in November (triangular stage) and has the studio audio over that footage - as always with Babymetal the live audio hits harder and the guitars etc do stand out more. Also I don't see any real Babymetal fans slating you for being honest so don't expect any slating. I would be very interested to hear your take on the rest of the album, but a couple more tracks in particular and my own favourites from the album - 'BxMxC' and 'Shine'. They are both very different to what you have heard so far, 'BxMxC' is also very different from anything you'll have ever heard from Babymetal.

Grington300 300 I think if he’s looking for something more in the ‘Gimme Chocolate’ odd/catchy/cute vein, ‘BBAB’ might be up his alley. It is one of my favorite have songs on the latest album, although it seems I may be in the minority there. 🤔

@@The_Great_Darino There is that one - or 'Oh! Majinai' if he really wants something that is bonkers, but that needs a live performance for the choreo and the giant Joakims on the screen. I still think 'BxMxC' will get closest to the traditional Gimme Chocolate "WTF" reaction - just for different reasons.

I had a similar feeling with the new album but after seeing the songs live I think the change in sound just comes with being more gown up now and Yui missing. They "lost" the innocent cuteness, like the way they dance now and in the older songs is very differently but that is a good thing. They cannot stay children forever. The sound of the new album has more organic feel to it and less experimental. One strange thing is I have this same feeling with the new Igorrr release...they perfected their sound and now it start to feel organic and looses something. I still love the album. And I love the new Babymetal for what it is. I think maybe Oh Majinai has the weirdness factor for you ^_^ It is colloboration with the singer from Sabaton. Look for a live version, there is no official I believe but very good fan cam ones and this NEEDS to be seen live. Also BxMxC is a very different track where you will be surprised! It was only on the Japanese edition but became a favorite to many fans. It is not my style of music AT ALL but somehow I listend to it countless times XD

They are never going to match that first album it's so brilliant. But the third album is great too. It has some great songs. BxMxC is as good as anything they've ever done. Pa Pa Ya is a great fun song. I really love Kagerou. Distortion is great. Shine and Night Night Burn are really great live. Shanti Shanti Shanti is a really cool take on Indian music. Lot to love about that album. Not to hate it because it's not the first album all over again.

I had much the same reaction as you but this song, of any on the album, sticks in my head. Also the song is much heavier live. Moametal called it dance metal. I think that with this album they were trying to go somwhere different, and that the creative process changed with the death of their lead guitarist in 2018 and Yui leaving the group the same year (due to undisclosed medical condition). I feel the album represents where the girls are in their development, Su likes the Marmozets and Moa Bring Me the Horizon. But will it be where they are next album? Probably not. The band is a prog band in many ways.

I understand why this song feels a bit meh to you. It is catchy and has some energy, but I agree that it is a bit bland by BABYMETAL standards. The latest album as a whole is a bit less Metal than than the previous ones, I‘d say, but it makes up for that in diversity, if one is willing to take that. Having said that, if you look past the catchy chorus and the dance theme, the rhythmic patterns at the „interludes“ and the solo are actually pretty Metal. In their live shows this has usually been the first song after the intro, where it fits pretty well, in my opinion, to get the crowd warmed up.

⚡ 💕 / 💃 Fair enough. I'm a big BABYMETAL fan, but this one is in my bottom third of BABYMETAL songs. Still a lot of fun live though. Tak Matsumoto, the guest artist on guitar is from B'z. They're the overall best selling group in Japan, and one of the best selling worldwide. BABYMETAL were able to get all of their first choices for the guest artists on this album.

Just out of curiousity, what are your bottom three songs? I never see a conversation about this. Mine are In The Name Of at the bottom (cause it's just dark BM gospel), From Dusk Till Dawn then Rondo of Nightmare (probably unexpected).
@rickwagner-
@rickwagner- 4 жыл бұрын
@@aamiw99 Let me preface this by saying that any BABYMETAL song is a lot of fun to hear live. On CD, I'll skip over 'BABYMETAL Death', especially the original album track. 'Headbanger (Night of 15 Mix)' 'From Dusk Till Dawn' (even though I was thrilled to hear it live at the Palladium). If you don't count that Headbanger re-mix as a separate song, then 'Elevator Girl'. I always imagine the staging in 'Legend S' when I hear it now, so I like 'IN THE NAME OF' more than I used to. And yes, I'm shocked to see Rondo on your list. : )
@aamiw99
@aamiw99 4 жыл бұрын
@@rickwagner- Interesting. I'm a big fan of the instrumentals on BM Death cause it's so 'headbangable'. I don't think I've ever heard Headbanger (Night of 15 Mix) so gotta check that out. About Rondo, I'm just not a huge fan of the pairing of the metalcore-like riffs (lots of 0s) with her cleans. I know BM is all about weird combinations of genres, but this one just didn't stick well. I had the same problem with Elevator Girl as I had with Da Da Dance - stretching out English words - cause it seemed a bit lazy to me, but the amazing Japanese chorus of Elevator Girl just made me forget about all that, so I'd say I like it. Edit: so I loved that Night Of 15 Mix! I'm a huge fan of electronic rock so I had chills the whole time. The only thing I didn't like was the higher pitched vocals at the end. A lot of metalheads don't seem to like electronic music, which is fine.
@rickwagner-

@@aamiw99 It's the lip-synching that gets to me with the Night of 15 mix, since Su was otherwise singing live at that point (with the exception of a few appearances on Japanese TV), although I've got to admit that I like it more each time I see it. It looks so crazy.

@@rickwagner- oh damn, you're right. She does lip-sync the song live at Legend 1997! I watched a studio version on KZbin, which I loved, but I can see why you wouldn't like that. I'd rather have had them just dancing to the track playing. Anything is better than lip-syncing really. Okay but at least they acknowledged it by having Su not "singing" at all during the last pre-chorus.

I enjoyed your reaction. If you are looking for something new, why not checking out "Solar System Disco" or "Alien Alien".It's a vocaloid pops. So I'm sure those are new genre to you. Composing a music with vocaloid became popular now and leads to music bands like Yoasobi and so many others. I don't guarantee you and your fans here like them. You may say you hate them or "What are those gabages??" Just for fun. Try them. : )

This was one of the songs which took me watching live videos to like it. The high energy of the song is why I like it cause, as you said, there's nothing much to it lyrically. I was turned off by the song cause I didn't like the way they stretched out or repeated words, like the song title and "dancing, dancing...show me show me". It just seems like lazy writing. Now I just have fun with it, which is probably the way it was intended to be. As for their new direction, I like the way their music has been maturing in a sense with the girls. Their new album is definitely less kawaii than their past albums, which is understandable considering a lot of the kawaii elements were from Yui and Moa together. They're also in their 20s now. I think their best album is Metal Resistance and a lot of my BM favourites are from that album. I don't have a lot of favourites from the new album. I'd say there's a few great songs and a lot of good ones. That might also have something to do with the way they experimented in the new record. Anyway, I'm just rambling at this point. Great reaction and appreciate the honesty. I don't know if you've heard it, but if not, react to BxMxC from their new album. Here's an amazing fan-made lyric video for the song since there's no official video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pHuaqZ2jgNmEnaM. Obviously studio audio was used, which is a shame in my view. Apart from the last four songs on Metal Galaxy, for me Da Da Dance, sums up the CD. Thank goodness the live versions of many of the tracks on Metal Galaxy, save the day. I do not say Metal Galaxy, is bad and I probably have listened to it as many times as the first two CD's now but it is a different animal and should be judged on it's own merits.
