Sonisphere was my 1st time seeing Babymetal and it may have been the most important show of their lives. Sonisphere used to be one of the big metal festivals in Europe, with a reputation of throwing bottles at bands they don't like. Babymetal were the 1st band of the day, normaly you get 5k to show up, sometimes 15k if you are known (metalheads don't do early), but BM walked out to about 50K also knowing the reputation Sonisphere had. Su has said in an interview that when they were backstage, due to the angle of the stage and the crowd being low down they could not see how many were there and thought it was a small crowd maybe 1-2k. When they walked out for the 1st song, Death, they looked a bit like deer stuck in the headlights of an on coming car. Half way though Death they realised that they had won the crowd over, and if you ever see a fancam of it you can see the point Su walks up tp the front of the stage with that look of we've got this. And that is where Babymetals love of the UK started.

Techniques may be hard to learn and retain.She does have those, but just focuses with the way she sings that cuts through the air, wind and spine and core of the head and skull, literally from head to toe, and through the ground and earth, also through the sky, may cuts trees and rocks even lol

Just awesome.. they were phenomenal. Luv this .. firstly awesome performance.. then the significance is just insane.. message of the song.. they hit every metric they could. Just amazing!! It brings me great joy to see another 'old guy', like myself, truly enjoying the strength, power, message, and chills that go with watching a Babymetal performance. The Babymetal community is tight, in part because we--just like Babymetal--were the underdogs of Metal Fandom. If you loved metal you weren't allowed to love this 'gimmicky, not-gonna-last band'. Now, 10 years later, Babymetal is conquering the world, and we, the One are stronger in our love for them, and each other, than ever before. Love your reactions! Never stop falling into the Foxhole!

My favorite quote by Su is they walked on stage and saw the immense crowd, she settled down and said to herself, "now this will be fun." She was 16. Whenever I have a blue day, I play a Babymetal show. We are Babymetal
@stevebiko71254 жыл бұрын
You definitely get the significance of that moment. This may not have been BABYMETAL's most "spectacular" show (no pyro, laser lights or impressive stage props) but, for me, it will always be one of their best performances ever. I don't doubt that performing in front of an audience in any scenario can be challenging, even intimidating at times, but I imagine it's somewhat easier when you're in your own element, in a concert, where you have more control and you know that those in attendance are already fans who have come to see you, specifically, vs. having to take the stage at a major music festival as one of multiple artists, and having to perform to a huge crowd who, for the most part, have never heard of you and are known to get ornery if they don't approve. This was, in many ways, a _trial by fire_ scenario for them. And the fact that they faced that challenge head on and were able to win over that many people after just five songs (despite bringing something new and unheard of to the genre) is a testament to, not only the quality of their music, but also the quality of their performance and to their grit. Enjoying these videos, keep 'em coming!

What's amazing is that the "SU-METAL's two notes you stopped during your video" have the same effect on me. I'm Japanese so of course I can understand lyrics, but that's not it. It must be "her voice" that reaches out to everyone's emotion somehow... And of course, it's nice to watch Mikio enjoys playing the guitar... And YUIMETAL...

It's a big moment for the band. But there are circle pits forming before the song even starts. I think the big moment was much earlier. Probably Catch Me If You Can. The first song or two were a little rough. You could see the sound engineers working between songs. This was their finale. It's always a great live song.

Sorry to go on...but...8:49 you said how we all feel. Su moves us all with her voice and presence and Moa and Yui make us happy with their joyous love of dancing and singing occasionally. We don't mind seeing smiles or excitement or joy or tears from anyone watching Babymetal perform. They're all valid reactions when it comes to what is the best band I've ever found, seen and heard - keep it up, man, we love you for it. The Fox God will bless you for your words after the song had finished. Don't apologise for - or even think - you're 'going on' for too long. [Never! Never! Never! Never!] Sometimes you get hurt, sometimes you hurt someone, and we all get badly hurt." Hi Michael! Awesome reaction! Welcome to THE ONE! I'm glad you didn't cut anything from the video. I think the reactors thoughts and emotions are the most interesting points of reaction videos, otherwise why watch them? We can just go watch the original. I'm right there with you man, I'm a little older than you, but I grew up with Metallica, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Disturbed, etc., and BABYMETAL has become my absolute favorite band in the world. They took a chance, and every member always gives it their all. From the girls, the band, the producer, the writers. I love "traditional" bands where the band comes together, writes and performs their own music, and so on but there's also something to be said about having masters focusing to perform their individual jobs and everyone coming together to end up with a result that is way more than the sum of their parts. Anyways, here's a picture of the girls before their set... you can imagine how they felt looking over the crowd: image.ibb.co/npJPrJ/BM_Sonisphere_2014.jpg

Well I've just watched your reaction for the second time and read all the comments. Two things I wanted to point out that nobody has mentioned, first, as I'm sure you noticed, or maybe you didn't, the dance moves during the solos (that was Mikio on the black guitar BTW) were to imitate fighting and Su stood hiding her face. This was to suggest that we are all guilty of turning a blind eye to bullying at some point. Then she steps between them to stop them fighting, as we all should when we witness it (and some people don't recognize the dancing as adding to the story). The second point was, did you not see Yui's skirt rip and how she just dealt with and got on with the job.

The best Metal song about stopping bullying ever! Ijime (IDGE-EE MAY) Dame (DA-MAY) Zettai (ZETT-EYE-EE). This is one of the best reactions I've seen to Babymetal and I don't think you're going to have many days in your life where you don't listen to some Babymetal. 5:08 - You mention Su having that look (The Death Stare, as it's known) that says "I have you now". I think that the moment she walks off stage 12:45 (and they really didn't know how these 65,000 Metal fans were going to react) she has a look that says "I see that your souls all belong to us now". And, lo, the Metal multitudes did all agree and bowed in happy obedience to their new Queen! What you say about it being a wake up for us old farts (I'm 58 and saw Sabbath live in 1976 and Zep in 79 and was getting tired of the same old Metal copies of the great - and old - Metal bands) is very true. Band-Maid are doing the same for Rock but Babymetal are exploring mixing up so many genres of music that they really are in a world of their own. One of their latest tracks from the new album is BxMxC - Su kills it being all gangsta while still being all Metal too. There's a few live fan cams of it and they're all powerful. I saw them last week (still seems like a dream - here's my fan cam compilation of 90% of the concert if you want to see what they look like now - kzbin.info/www/bejne/oKbUmoeOf5Wlq6M ) and they played 11 songs in an hour and rocked the place (2000 standing) from start to finish - total dedication to their dancing and Su's magnificent singing and all the passion and love towards their highly appreciative and vocal fans that one could want from a band. Your reactions are passionate and emotional too, as you recognise, and all The One appreciate that. Keep on reacting! Especially to the live stuff. Headbanger live is a must - kzbin.info/www/bejne/j5vNiI2mm8SdidU - as are Catch Me If You Can live - the best Metal song about playing Hide and Seek ever! - kzbin.info/www/bejne/jHKxmYyFZrl_pNE . Other fans will provide you with many links to all their stuff - the great band instrumental solos, the beautiful ballads of Su - the incredible rendition of No Rain, No Rainbow that may move you to tears but definitely will if you look up the lyrics first kzbin.info/www/bejne/pnXKoqJsm8ifn7s - the fun and great songs of Black Babymetal (just Moa and Yui, not Su) and, my favourites, the 2 links above - energetic, loud, fun, joyous. This is the longest comment I've made to someone reacting so hope it helps! Keep on reacting to Babymetal, man, and don't ever apologise for being emotional as we all are too when it comes to Babymetal.

It's nothing about the lyrics since I cannot understand a word (I usually search for translations later and also learn some lines and verses just to be able to sing them when I finally go so see them next June). Born in the 50's and I felt the same way when I saw this video. I had already become a fan back in late Feb of that year 2014, and knew this song well, but when I heard the backstory of this song and learned that it was literally music history in the making, well it still brings tears to my eyes when I watch it. Babymetal opened up a new world of music to me, and not necessarily Metal as I still don't listen to a lot of metal, but I did start searching out other Japanese and Asian bands to see what else was out there to be amazed by, and believe me, there is so much more great music talent on that side of the world. So once you finish up with reacting to Babymetal there are still so many great bands you check out from over there (Band-Maid - hard rock all-girls group that may just be the best rock band ever; One Ok Rock - if you like Likin Park, you'll love One Ok Rock; Dimash - the best singer in the world. He doesn't do rock/metal as such, but he is without a doubt the best singer ever to sing. That's a bold claim, but it's absolutely true. And a whole lot more.)

another fact of this show was 3 days later Babymetal merch was outselling everybody elses. whether they were bumped to main stage is up for debote. some say one thing. some say it was planned. but whatever it is this show changed metal forever. three little japanese girls, 16 and 15, came, kicked ass, and didnt look back. around now is when the haters started because this was not metal to them. but look at that crowd. they are enjoying it. you can hear at the end "we want more". again you aint seen nothing yet. Su will blow your mind of how good she is. the newest stuff is on another level. you aint ready for that yet. They're my favorite band. Trust me when I say that I've seen all the best metal bands. Very few come close to their performance level. My friends think I'm crazy, but I dont care. I love this band!

And you know. When I've been on their show in my city and waiting for show to start, I asked loudly "we are?" and some persons answered "BABYMETAL". Then I shouted "WE AAARE?" very loud and the whole venue shouted "BABYMETAAAAL". It's amazing feeling to be in the middle of The One. BABYMETAL unites people and makes the world a better place.

Imagine doing a Yui/Mo choreography set. I'd be dead. It's like calisthenics on fast forward. They are honestly world class athletes on top of the artistry and everything else.

Hey there. Just found you thru The New Babymetal Fan Club FB page. Thank you for this. I've been a Babymetal fan since Aug '18 and I'm one of those old guys (mid 40s). You get them for pretty much the same reasons I get them. I listen to them every day and I always get emotional. Anyhow, I look forward to watching some more reactions. Cheers! From Vancouver, BC, Canada. 🇨🇦🤘

I love that philosophy at the end. 'We're F'd. So we may as well F them up". Then play the gig, do the deed or do whatever you need to do.
