YES!!! This legendary 30+ minute set in BABYMETAL history is called by some the "Miracle at Sonisphere". Imagine being 15-16 years old originally set for a small side tent (expecting maybe a couple thousand to show) to being upgraded a couple months before the show to the main stage in front of 65,000+ people BUT 95+% of them never heard of you, some came to hate on you (based on their videos up to this point like "Gimme Chocolate" which had gone viral a few months before and thought they were a joke or gimmick), and the Sonisphere crowd are known to throw stuff at the acts if they don't like them! But by the end of their 30-ish minute set, the crowd is chanting "We want more! We want more!", which you can see and hear at the end of this video. They had the largest pits and wall of death's, as well as sold the most merch out of all the acts performing at that event (Metallica, Iron Maiden, etc). This show was an important part of them blowing up outside of Japan and is considered a major moment in BABYMETAL history. This is why this show is my favorite of all their shows! Great video and reaction! Keep up the great work! 🦊🤘

Here is a quote from Su-metal talking about her favorite lyrics from their 2014 debut album, "BABYMETAL"......"[In] the song "Ijime, Dame, Zettai," there is one phrase that means "I will protect you no matter what." I feel very connected to that because we play the song at the end of our set. All of us are super tired from the whole show, but there's one part in our choreography where we all walk to the center and look into each others' eyes and it's like, "OK, let's do this." It also reflects to where we are in reality. To me, it's a very, very important part of our show and that's why I like it." 🦊🤘

In 2014 BM were getting good buzz about their performances on their first European tour and so were invited to perform at Sonisphere...a big UK metal festival. They were nervous because the UK crowd was notoriously tough, but by the end of their 30 min set they had won them over completely. It's the moment that critics and the international audience realized that BM were a legitimate headlining band and not just a gimmick. You get a bit of everything in this: Kami Band shredding, Su power vocals, Moa and Yui backing vocals; dancing, and a Yui tutu malfunction. The title takes an iconic Japanese anti-drugs slogan (Mayaku, Dame, Zettai) and use it against bullying.
@flugelhornoldman13623 жыл бұрын
Great & thanks again from Japan 有難う💛 The phrase "Dame Zettai (= No absolutely)" is originated from police campaign against illegal drugs which had started in 1960s. So this song implies that "Ijime (= bullying)" is considered as harmful and addictive as illegal drugs. We have to continue our efforts at home and in school (and in any society in the world) to eliminate it. In this video we see many mosh pits that are good signs to welcome bands. But I love more to see that the excited crowd gradually turn into enthusiastic audience. And when three girls started to speak some words in the interlude, loud cheers quickly subsided and the audience even tried to listen to what they were saying although the people could not understand our language. I am emotionally moved whenever I see that scene. After the performance, people in the crowd became happy, so did Kami band, and I am sure that the three girls fell asleep very happily that night. Now in 2021, BABYMETAL performed IDZ in all of 10 Budokan shows either as grand finale or second song after the opening show. It was probably their message to the world.

Quote from our QUEEN… “I am so honored that we are confirmed to play Sonisphere Festival UK,” declares SU-METAL. “There are so many different types of artists playing this festival but I hope to deliver a one and only, unique style metal - BABYMETAL - even to those who will see us for the very first time. This will be our very first time in the UK, which makes us nervous, yet excited just imagining what type of people will come and see us, what sort of show it will end up being, and whether the audience will enjoy our show. We’ll hopefully get to see Metallica-san’s performance again after witnessing them at Summer Sonic festival in Japan which we are very excited about.” This is where history was made that day for BABYMETAL the way they won over the crowd. To hear the crowd chanting WE WANT MORE at the end must of made them very happy. And YUI-CHAN still rocking it live with a torn outfit, classic. BABYMETAL 4 LIFE.... SEE YU......

IDZ Is one of the most representative songs by BM, as every aspect blends in perfectly, lyrics, dancing, music and of course singing, that line "I'll protect you" may sound empty words, until you realise that's SU shouting "kara" at 150 decibels, like a lioness roaring! When you've the chance, you may like to watch their Wembley Show, an amazing performance, there they explain the reason why they choose London to start their 2016 World Tour, a touching moment! 🤘🦊⚡

My favourite moments in this video are when Su waves her hand wildly (at 8:35 in your video) and soon after that when they just stand there and just soak it in for a few seconds. You can almost feel the weight falling off their shoulders and the relief about their receptance. It’s probably strange to feel proud of someone you don’t know personally, but that’s definitely one of the emotions I (and I assume most fans) feel at that moment.

Great reaction ! Don't worry I've seen that performance hundreds of times and I shed a little tear right with you. The backstory makes it so much more powerful indeed. There had been hateful and toxic comments online regarding the news of their presence on the mainstage of Sonisphere. A lot of people took BABYMETAL as an insult to their precious metal and thought the mainstage should have been for more "legitimate" metal bands. In the end though, they did it so well and professionally that they won over the entire crowd. They still talk about this performance nowadays in interviews, it is testament to how the girls feel this was a pivotal moment in their history. Also to be honest I think you need to be a very heartless person to decide to boo and throw stuff at such innocent looking teenage girls who are just trying to have fun and give fun to people lol. Metalheads really are mostly softies under a tough-looking shell and a lot of them have known what bullying is first-hand.

Mikio's wailing leads and all the Yui close ups (You even paused on one to wipe away your tears) really make me sad. But Babymetal makes me so happy that the sadness is overwhelmed entirely. The way they paused at the end of the song to soak up the adoration as the crowd chanted "We want more." Love it. In the words of Charlie Sheen: "Winning!" Then the immortal "See you!" It's been over two months since my fall into the Foxhole. Does Babymetal ever get old? I can't stop. But don't help me because I'm okay. Peace

Great reaction! It hits us all emotionally for many reasons. It would be great if you can react to BABYMETAL's "Trilogy of Light". That is 3 songs in order Starlight, Shine and Arkadia. Use the BABYMETAL Reactor Resource so they don't get blocked. These 3 songs are unofficially known to fans as a tribute to Mikio (RIP) who died in 2018 falling off of an observation platform and maybe even Yui who left in 2018 due to unknown health reasons. Both were known to love observing the stars. These songs are very emotional to me, specially Shine from the Legend M concert. The 3 songs I believe represent the 3 stages of grief. 1 Starlight is the loss of someone 2 Shine is handling the sadness of the loss and 3 Arkadia is accepting the loss and moving forward. As someone else has said, I wish I could go back and relive my first reactions to BABYMETAL, but I can only do that now through you and your great reactions. I can't wait to see more! Definitely shows you're becoming a fan - getting emotional is perfectly natural to this particular performance as not only did the girls and the band absolutely kill it, they proved to the world outside of Japan that they were so much more than a gimmick and a meme but were a quality metal act as well. Can only imagine the sense of accomplishment they felt as they were cheered off the stage and I'm so pleased for them - I grew up in the UK and was in a few festival crowds in my time and if they turn against you, you'll know all about it.

Note the day of the show was July 5th, so that was the day after Moa's 15th birthday (with Yui's 15th being two weeks before that). Imagine going on stage with such trepidation about the crowd, but by the time you're leaving the stage with your beloved friends and bandmates, you have the crowd roaring with applause and chanting for more... and just yesterday was your birthday. That has to be absolute elation! A triumph for them all, to be sure. :)

I thought I was the only one that cried during this song. From the opening piano chords, It makes me feel very emotional. Yes, a lot to do with what you said, about overcoming fear of those meek, young girls facing a brash, salty hard core metal crowd of 65,000 and nailing it. It had to be an unbelievable feeling for those young ladies. It also makes me think this songs way way beyond of just local bullying. I firmly feel this song has a lot to do with Su Metal's home town.,,, Hiroshima Just put 2 & 2 together and you will see this clearly. They were worried about getting bottled while they were playing; they were told they had only 30 minutes to perform so they cut a song out of the set. Moa's in ear monitors weren't working when they started playing the opening song. Yui caught her skirt on one of her spikes on her wrist and it was unravelling during IDZ. It was not a smooth gig, but they killed it. Quite the debut on the world stage.

Ever since this festival, Babymetal considers the UK as their 2nd home. They also were the 1st Japanese Band/Group to perform at Wembley Arena. Both are Awesome concerts, have watched both via KZbin. With unbelievably talented musicians 3 girls come on stage and began to Sing and OMG Dance. Those old metal-heads never knew what hit them. Post-Festival the British Music press went crazy over the girls. I read a number of times that the girls could not see the crowd from where they were waiting to go on, so they did not how huge the crowd was until they went on stage!!

SU held up releasing one song for 2.5 years because she could not get the emotion right. That chick doesn't fuck around. They have amazing power....

That was very important for them, their first metal festival and the first time in front of a big foreigner crowd, with a lot criticism that had been around the internet that year. They had just become viral with the Gimme Chocolate! video and a lot of haters were bitching that they didn't want them on a metal festival like sonisphere and that this wasn't true metal. They were afraid, but as you can see they stole the show. Su still remembers, as she mentioned in an interview past holidays: kzbin.info/www/bejne/npnXaXivYtmZhpo

This was a very special show for the girls. This was really the first time the band realized they might be able to successfully put on a legit world tour. Before this show, they had never performed in front of a large outdoor audience with the Yuibot mark IV, which was in fully autonomous mode here and didn't require a physical tether. Her battery capacity was still limited, which is why the set was only 5 songs long, and her microwave receiver conked out in mid-performance, so the secondary antenna was deployed from her skirt for this song, but it was a great proof of concept that the Yuibot could finally perform on stages that weren't especially built for her. The rest, as they say, is history!

Great reaction as always! For me, IDZ is the most Babymetal of all the Babymetal songs. It has all the elements. Great guitar solos, Yui and Moa are up there doing what Moimoi do best, fun choreography, Su gets to show off her vocal power, and the crowd has plenty of opportunity to join in. I often get a little choked up reading the lyrics. IDK why exactly. I like that, while the lyrics speak against the bullyers...bulliers?? those who bully... and those who let it happen, it also encourages the bullied to rise above it. Fly fly fly fly. Kids should be encouraged how to find the inner strength to believe in themselves. Sometimes a person has to just suck it up. That is not easy to do, especially now when everyone is clamoring to be labeled a victim, but they should be taught or encouraged to do so. When you face endless bullying at a vulnerable age those feelings of inadequacy don't necessarily fully go away and I think can affect a person and damage their path to success in live. Of course, I think its fairly common for people who are bullied to lash out and bully others to make themselves feel better which creates that endless cycle. Seems like sucking it up is a better way to stop the cycle. Wow! I rambled on about this. haha sorry :D
