Yea she said due to her parents work i think both had dealings with UK American Speakers/Companies and made it important for Saki to LEARN. As obviously its useful. Since most of us are Lazy fks who if you learn you forget example i did french at school whuch i never used but lived in the Spanish Canary Islands and could hold and understand conversations in Spanish.. Watching this one day after seeing Babymetal live in Leeds makes you realise how much idol culture is engrained in their shows. It is an amazing spectacle that is a bit alien to the western stage. But it was amazing. People were going crazy to the music, even older people were enjoying the music they had going on even if they didnt understand anything from the lyrics.

@poopypants_mcgee1 When I was growing up, metalheads fell into two camps. Either Van Halen was king or Iron Maiden was king. I think Nemophila and Band Maid are for fans in the Van Halen camp, and Lovebites would be favored by the Iron Maiden camp.

@@MegaHogzilla I’m def in the maiden camp. My fave growing up was Metallica and now its killswitch engage and lamb of god. Band maid is way out of my wheelhouse but at least for me they have that “it” factor. Plus they were my introduction to the jrock scene so they have that first love thing goin on. And I never liked Van Halen. They were always very cheesy to me. Lol. Unlucky Morpheus has classical music compositions presented in heavy metal form. That’s why I like them so much

She is being modest as Japan's metal scene is very vibrant and diverse. From legends like X-Japan, Dir En Grey, The Gazette. To more female fronted bands in Japan then you see almost anywhere else. However it great these exceptionally talented groups. Which are finally starting to get some much deserved recognition. Band-Maid, Nemophila, Existtrance, Aldious, Bridear, Mary's Blood, LoveBites etc. BabyMetal was my gateway band into this wonderful metal universe which Japan has reinvented. I think we need to believe her when she says that heavy metal isn't actually that popular in Japan (I mean she's literally Japanese). It's definitely great that the fanbases for these groups are growing overseas, but we as foreigners have a limited view of what's actually happening in Japan. And even metal as a whole is a niche genre in the international music scene. Imo the takeaway is to keep supporting them so they keep getting bigger and bigger! They still have a lot of room to grow

@@oys1968 Agreed. They're very popular and good at what they do, but as a metal fan myself I can't really bear listening to them much. It's way too idoly for my taste, but it's clearly a good introduction for people who are not familiar with metal, or at least provides fresh air for those who wouldn't listen to it conventionally. Also there's the fact that Japan is a very closed country, unless they're very into foreign metal I doubt any of them know about, say, Avenged Sevenfold, while any rock (not even metal) fan around the world knows them very well.

I've been watched a lot of idol group and band. That is so true what she was saying that so many idol group put metal and heavy rock in their song. But not many people realize it. They certainly need more attention

Absolutely! Some really have metal (of various subgenres) as the core of their music, like Necronomidol or Himari Tsukishiro's solo project Isiliel. Another like that is LyricHolic Opera Company. Some other idol units incorporate me5tal into a mash-up that includes electronica, etc. PassCode are my favorite example of this, but they're not alone.

X Japan introduced the Japanese Metal scene back in the 80's. Dir En Grey put them back on the map back in late 90's until 2000's. And Babymetal set a new standard for the genre in 2010's. And thanks to these artists, I found Lovebites, Nemophila, Unlucky Morpheus and many more talents. I just love it how in each decade Japan is constantly changing and experimenting with the genre. Making them relevant to this day and age of modern music. 🤟🤟🤟

No they didn't. They may be the most internationally popular Japanese metal band at this moment, but they didn't invent the genre in there and certainly didn't export it first, and I hesitated not to type metal in between quotes because a lot of the music that they make is very J-pop-ish, which makes it much easier to listen to and affects their popularity positively. But many other bands, also very popular and loved all around the world, have existed for way longer. To give you an example, Crystal Lake, a band that has been around for 20 years and I was able to see live in Spain way before I'm gonna be able to see Babymetal.

@@JerryO1995 They're not even the first Japanese girl rock act to be popular oversea's. Stereopony and Scandal were probably the first two, tho they probably fall more into pop punk/pop rock. Stereopony was probably better then Scandal but Scandal was more popular as they did more jpop a long side their more rock stuff.

I mentioned this before on the full interview, but I’ll repeat it here. Saki, is a exceptionally talented and friendly person. I respect her personally, her talent, and affection for others. Absolutely outstanding guitarist, and to a large degree the leader of Nemophila. (Research the history before throwing spears.). Of course, Tamu Murata is considered the mother, but might loose her crown when Mayu’s child is born. Regardless, of children; in my opinion Tamu is the next best thing to Moa-Metal from a loving inclusive point of view. Sorry my Queen SuMetal.
