Welcome back, nice reaction. This is one of four Su-metal solos, two on each of the first two albums. Yui and Moa would get a break while Su performed those. There are also 4 songs without Su performed by Yui and Moa as a duo known as Black BABYMETAL. The Kami Band, some of Japan's very best session musicians, first appeared in Oct 2012 and were phased in over the next 18 months or so playing at a couple of festivals and the encores in some shows. The Budokan shows at the start of March 2014 were where they finally became the full time support for all live shows. As you saw, the intro here is called 'Mischiefs of the Metal Gods'. In order of solos - Leda Cygnus (blue guitar), Takayoshi Ohmura (gold guitar), BOH (6 string bass) and Hideki Aoyama (drums). There can't be many 16 year old girls who could follow that intro and then just take over the whole stage and arena the way Su did. You were right, this is one of their darkest songs lyrically (and yes, Su can make us feel the meaning or emotion of a song even if we can't understand a word of Japanese). I understand rondo is a musical term denoting a repeated theme - something like that anyway. I believe they borrowed the term for the title of this song as Su is caught in a recurring nightmare, being chased through the darkness by something she can't see. Eventually she hides, but it is still coming closer. Knowing there is no escape she asks that if she is to die won't it at least reveal itself to her. This was only the second time Su had performed this song live - the first time was the night before. This was early March 2014. They played two nights at the Budokan in Tokyo (think the equivalent of Carnegie Hall or Madison Square Garden - it is the place all Japanese and many foreign artists aspire to play), Red Night and Black Night, becoming the youngest average age female band ever to headline there (Su was 16 and a couple of months, Yui and Moa still only 14). They had just released their first album - they sold out both nights. 🤘🦊🤘 They were back at the Budokan as part of their 10th anniversary celebration and played 10 shows over the first 3 or 4 months of 2021. Keep going with your list of suggestions (and if you come across live performances of songs not on the list please add them too, we will get round to recommending everything eventually, but don't wait for us to do it).

Nice one, thanks and perfect song for Halloween! 🎃 "Mischiefs of the Metal Gods" is the only intro song that has a name but they also have several other songs they perform live with an intro such as "Catch me if you can", "YAVA!". "Awadama Fever", "Kagerou" and more recently "METALI!". This is one of what we call Su-metal solos. She has four of them. The others are: "Akatsuki", "No rain no rainbow" and "Amore". "Rondo of Nightmare" is probably their darkest song lyrically. It's about Su being trapped into an endless nightmare, without any chance to escape, where she's chased by a dark entity as she tries to run away and hide. Finally she asks the entity to reveal its real nature before giving up. It's a very rare theme for them This was just the second time they performed it live (the first one was just the previous night at the same venue) and Su-metal, being 16 at the time, was standing by herself on a relatively small and elevated platform, without any safety and probably not being able so see a thing due to the spotlight. This is so freaking metal! The "rondo" in the name refers to the musical refrain form. The typical feature of any rondo is the return to the main theme after each digression giving the song a dark feeling of moving in circles without any possible way out. One of the best known rondos is Beethoven's "Für Elise". Here is an excerpt from the interview with RollingStone (April 2014 issue) you mentioned: Q: Concerning Su-metal's solo songs we see that 'Akumu no Rondo' has been released as a new single. Su-metal: It seems my two solo songs are 'Akatsuki' and Akumu no Rondo'. 'Akatsuki' has the sense of being the 'redness of passion' (realize that Akatsuki means 'red moon') as is a song where I move around passionately. Compared with that, 'Akumu no Rondo' possesses the feeling of 'blackness'. The temporary title for this song was 'Kill The Alice' based on an image of Alice falling into a cave and being flaying around in the darkness. This is a story where it seems that something is chasing me (this girl) around in the darkness of the cave where I can see nothing at all. Most of the songs I have sung up to meeting this one have been passionate songs but this song has allowed me to try my hand at new ways of singing and I feel I approach this song with a new way of expression each time I sing it. 🤘🦊

Su's solo, nightmare is: something is chasing her, she tells it to stop chasing and just come out already. This was (East) Kami Band, all Japanese, now they use (west) Kami band, mostly (or all) American musicians wearing masks.

⚡ / 🔥 😱 🔥 This performance is my standard answer to anyone who says that BABYMETAL aren't really metal. : ) It's already epic, and THEN Su rises up from beneath the stage. This song had it's world premiere the previous night. The 'Mischief of the Metal Gods' instrumental often precedes 'Rondo of Nightmare', but not always. This was the Black Night at Budokan in 2014, with Leda Cygnus and Takayoshi Ohmura on guitars and Hideki Aoyama on drums. And of course BOH on bass. Not that many people play a six stringed bass to begin with, let alone tap one like that. Su sang three solo songs that night. She did 'No Rain, No Rainbow', followed by 'Akatsuki' earlier in the set. I already liked BABYMETAL, but those solo songs made me a die hard fan. Dancing on a small platform raised in the air demonstrates courage. Following up an introduction where each Kami Band member shows off their skills with a solo, shows total fearlessness. : ) BTW, Su was sixteen years old at this performance.

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。This is the song that I am longing for the revival with Su-Metal's matured rich voice. (Of course I love this version) "Rondo" is a musical form with a recurring leading theme. I can't tell how many times I have viewed this video. It is literally a rondo of happy dream for me. Kamis' (=Gods') super solos were excellent enough as a main event in the show, but once the 16-year-old Queen (as of 2014) emerged from the underground, she colored everything differently with her penetrating voice then turned Kami Band's plays into a ritual to summon her.

Because they were so young when they started they had some solo Su songs, and some 'Black Babymetal' songs that were just Yui and Moa. This was so that they could all get rest breaks during the concerts. Also, the song is about her being stalked by a monster she cant see. Over the course of the song she accepts that she is going to die so she asks the monster if she can see what it looks like once before she dies. Pretty metal, and kind of sad at the same time

Nice reaction. To me this is by far Babymetals darkest song lyric wise. Truely about a nightmare and a recurring one at that. Run and hide but you can't escape it. The only escape is to wake up. Which is what happening at the end of the song. That's why it has that sudden end to it. Great tune with a great performance by Su and the Kamiband. That opening could only be followed by the talent of Su-metal.

Nice reaction! Most of us listen to BABYMETAL on a daily basis. They have music for all kinds of moods. Rondo of Nightmare is more on the darker side, and just like the uplifting, positive songs, it´s a banger. The Kami Band is shredding like there´s no tomorrow with their intro (and I love it that they got their time to shine! The Kamis are our heroes!), and after that 16yo Su-Metal sings and performs like very few performers could do. I don´t watch this performance of RoN every day, but I absolutely love it!

Well in this case we have only one girl. Also since it is dangerous. Su was not so extremly high, but she was unable to see anything. They had bets running if youu would be able to hear her voice. They agreed she would need sopernatural Powers. But as usual a female voiceis sitting in a wave of of higher frequencies but her voice Modulation forms the surrounding frequencies.
Highly, highly recommend... Aldious We Are music video

With the longer sets they were doing at the time Su’s solos were designed to give Yui and Moa a rest, Black Babymetal ( Yui and Moa alone) to give Su time to take a break 👀
