Great reaction. 'Starlight' was the first of the three songs they ended their third album (Metal Galaxy - 2019) with. Collectively these three songs are known as the Trilogy of Lights. They describe the stages of mourning we go through after losing somebody close. 'Starlight' is about the initial shock and grief. 'Shine' is about acceptance and coming to terms with the loss (I hope you will watch the Legend M performance, that one is extra special - just Su, Moa and a guitar on stage and Moa's choreo is incredibly moving and emotional). 'Arkadia' is about looking to the future and better times to come. It has never been said by anybody associated with BABYMETAL, but most fans believe the trilogy is a tribute to Kami Band guitarist Mikio Fujioka (RIP) who tragically died on 5th January 2018 after falling from an observation deck where he had been stargazing ... it is just fan speculation, but it is hard to believe there isn't something in it, especially given the lyrics of 'Starlight' - "Wherever we are we'll be with you We'll never forget shining starlight. Wherever you are live in my heart We'll never forget shooting star." and the Legend M performance in particular of 'Shine' would also suggest there is something in it. 'Starlight' was also released on the same day in October 2018 that the original third member of BABYMETAL Yuimetal announced she would be leaving the band and Su has said she thinks of Yui and how she would have danced to this song, so maybe the tribute is for her as well. Only the Fox God knows.🦊

Now you've got to react to the full Trilogy of Lights live. :D And I hope you watch the version of Shine from the Legend M concert, as the performance is special, especially with the context Grington gave about Yui and Mikio. Starlight, Shine, and Arkadia really should be viewed/considered as a unit. Also, if you like this MV, you're going to love the MV for Distortion. The live for Distortion is good, but it was released during a strange transitional period in BabyMetal's history, and unlike the singles that came before and after, the live isn't 'special' in a way that watching the MV first is any kind of tragedy. Also, the MV is visually amazing. I would watch a whole movie of whatever they've got going on in that video. 🤘🦊🤘

Jumping into this song and suggestion without giving you a context is really a bad move to enjoy your journey because this isn't exactly a happy vibe song. Anyway this is part of the official Trilogy Of Lights, i wasn't expecting for you to jump so fast to more mature and last 3rd album Metal Galaxy. You got two options here, you can go back to previous album and keep listening songs from early era when YuiMetal was still in the group and appreciate the evolution of the group, or you can keep listen this trilogy in order: Starlight, Shine and Arkadia, all those are in BMRR (Reactor Resource spreadsheet) with watermarked logo safe to react, I highly recommend Shine live at Legend M 2019 - MoaMetal 20 birthday, but in any case you can come back to listen again this set after traveling your BM journey a little bit more and get to know some sad events previous to this, such YuiMetal withdrawal and Míkio Fujioka, beloved Kami Band guitarist (R.I.P.), because of this fans took this set unofficially as a tribute to them and that is why become so special, that's why I always recommend other songs from previous albums such Tales Of The Destinies and The One, before reaching this set, it hits way different, trust me. This official MV was released in October 2018 the same day YuiMetal made her official announcement leaving the group, she loves stargazing, same as Mikio Fujioka, and that's why fans connect this song to them. SuMetal also said that this song reminds her YuiMetal but also she got memories from other moments in her life when traveling around the world, such the clear sky in New Zealand. So it all depends on your mood or state of mind to experience these songs that were intended to represent the ongoing cycle of birth, death and rebirth, a common belief among many others countries and regions. The girls aren't showing up here, like you saw in the vid, they show up a little bit at the end, the lore on this was related to the Chosen Seven story, that's why you see some others members in this. They got another official MV which feature none of the girls and that is "Distortion", also from 3rd album, so don't rush with that one and go for a live versión such Download Festival 2018 (official channel and safe to react) or Legend Metal Galaxy 2020 at BMRR. Great showcase of how these 16/15 year olds (2015) are already professionals as they command a crowd of 20,000 fans to an epic power metal battle anthem! 🤘🦊🤘🦊

She really is a special vocalist. You should check out her live stuff. She actually sounds better live than the music videos where they tend to tweak her voice. Check out No Rain, No Rainbow Baptism XX legend S Live, and Rondo of Nightmare, and Akatsuki (both versions, the regular one and the unfinished version, maybe bring tissues for the unfinished version as there is a LOT of emotion in her singing where she even has tears as she sings it. And she was ONLY 16 at the time!). I'd also recommend you check out From Dusk Till Dawn. Then if you want to see something very special after that, check out Road of Resistance Live in Japan Official where you get to witness a 17 year old girl take command of a bunch of mostly grown metalhead men and have them wrapped around her finger. Yes she really is special. Another vocalist you might enjoy checking out is a Filipino singer named Morissette Amon. I'd recommend her singing Never Enough on the Wish bus, Rise up on the wish bus, Could you be Messiah (another one you might want tissues for, especially at the end, again the singer is crying lol), and I wanna Know What Love Is (Mariah Carey Version) MYX Live version. This singer is also very special. I think you'll enjoy both singers very much. They are my favorite vocalists right now.
