To me, there's some Ska vibes on this one. Then again, I shouldn't be surprised. They mix pretty much all metal (and non-metal) genres. This is why I love this group. I wouldn't be an understatement to say I listen to them every day. Pretty much all their songs have different styles, so it doesn't feel repetitive. Once again, good reaction!!

Good reaction, but don't try to make too much sense of the lyrics in this one - the whole point of it seems to be confusion. This wasn't a very good compilation (the choreo wasn't matched up properly), I think whoever made it was trying to get the Kami Band intro in (that wasn't matched very well to what they were playing either). This is BABYMETAL mixing some ska in with their metal. Some bands have been trying to do that for years, BABYMETAL come in, do it far better at their first attempt - and move on to the next blend.

Tanks again from Japan 有難う💛。The 3 girls once said like "We feel we have been protected all the time by Kami band" and Kamis said "The girls took us to stages in the world, outside of Japan. We have nothing but gratitude towards them". The good relation between Kamis and Su / Moa remains intact. In a video uploaded in KZbin, BOH and Ohmura said how excellent "the two persons" were and how much they loved and respected "the two persons". They said so 2 days after the finial show of 10 BABYMETAL Budokan concerts on April 15 last year. Of course the persons they mentioned are Su and Moa.

As with most Babymetal lyrics (and indeed the Japanese language in general) the meaning of this song is very ambiguous. The title itself is in fact a perfect example of this. _Yava_ is slang for the word _yabai_ (やばい), which originally meant _dangerous._ It's normally written _yaba,_ but for some reason Koba decided to spell it with a V, even though the /v/ phoneme doesn't really exist in Japanese. The meaning of _yabai_ has actually changed quite a bit over time, and depends greatly on context and how it's expressed. Like I said, it originally meant _dangerous, risky, suspicious,_ but during the 80's, it started to be used as an exclamation, similar to _oh no!_ or _oh my god!_ A decade after that, kids started to use it as a slang term, initially meaning something like _crazy, weird_ or _funny,_ but this continued to evolve, and today it's most often used to mean something good, like _amazing, cool,_ or _awesome._ As it has changed to having almost the opposite meaning in just 40 years, the age of the speaker needs to be taken into account. And considering how young Su, Moa and Yui are, the title of this song could be assumed to mean something like "cool!", but interpreted in context with the rest of the lyrics, I think it's safer to assume that they mean "oh no!". Perhaps reflecting the age of the songwriter more than the singers?

⚡ 💀 💕 / 🤔 Nice. Definitely one of my favorites off of 'Metal Resistance', the second BABYMETAL album. Even with a translation it's hard to know exactly what this song is about. As Du-Metal says on his translation page, "The meaning of the lyrics is vague, obscure & ambiguous." Even so, this Ska + Metal + JPop combination sounds great to me.

Not a Fan of Ska ( although i like Baggy Trousers by Madness ) but love BabyMetals take on it . The music ,vocals , courography and there expressions on there faces when saying Yava . From early teens my friends and i loved music not mainstream groups pop ect . We liked Deep Purple, Alice Cooper, Hawkwind and other groups not all rock and metal . I bumped into one of my old friends couple years ago and asking what we being up to and i just being to see BabyMetal and mentioned it . I was shocked when he said "not really into music " . I mentioned all the music we all loved and he said he only pretending to like music to fit in ! . I was shocked and pointed out we where all into motorbikes and martial arts and movies . I pointed this out and he didnt have to like exactly the same things . Sad thing is we went to music shops and he bought albums and just to fit in . He could of spent the money on things he did like . Social pressure to fit in doesn't bother me after all i love BabyMetal i dont know anyone in my home town who's a fellow fan so i am also different after all 🤣🤘🦊

Nice reaction, thanks! One of my favorite songs. For some reason the ska vibe works for me and that breakdown is everything! It also has a funny choreo but that was a really bad compilation video. The solos are always challenging for compilations(specially on closeups) but they managed to ruin the general flow of the choreo as well. Although the meaning of the lyrics can be ambiguous at some point I believe that the meaning given to you was correct and that it's all about being, acting and most important, being perceived as "different" in a society where acting out the "canon" is seen as weird (and by "weird" I mean "wrong" and "unacceptable"). So yes, they say "chigau" a number of times... hehe... And that can be perfectly applied to their own history. Until next time!

I love my music but there is something so special about BM that is different. They create so much emotion when I watch their performances and your choice of using ‘Joy’ to describe them is so apt. I feel real joy whenever I see them perform, which surprises me everytime.

yeah there is nothing that indicates that the song is about people being different, just something is different and if you watch the dancing that thing seems to be something Moa and Yui can hold up in front of their faces to compare. To me the song says everyone says they are the same but Su has a nagging feeling that they are not the same and it is driving her nuts, she can not stop thinking about it. As the song goes on she becomes more and more certain they are different until the end where in her mind there is no doubt left, maybe the song is more about going with your gut feeling rather than just accepting what everyone else tells you. If this were a song from westerners about Japanese people I could accept that definition, however even though Japanese people are aware of certain stereotypes that culturally most people adhere to they do not think everyone looks alike lol. I do not know what they thing is they are referring to but no one else does either, except Babymetal themselves and maybe not even them

Nice reaction. A personal favorite of mine. From the kamiband intro to the breakdowns to the facial expressions and ok everything about this song is cool. One of the verses talks about things looking the same but if you look deeper, you will see they're actually different. Some interpretations of that are it's about Yui and Moa. When they became internationally known many had a hard time telling the difference between them. Until folks learned Yui is the very kawaii one and a great dancer with puggy cheeks. While Moa has dimples, feels like she was made for metal and she's the one talking about food. While on stage they may look similar as well. But in the early days they often had gloves on opposite hands. For me I could tell the difference I just took a while to remember their names. Su was always easy to spot even when they were in Sakura Gakuin. Su just stands out no matter what group she's in. You will be able to spot her. Now for the avenger just when I was starting to get to really know them, it was suddenly just Momoko left. So, it became easy. Enjoy the rest of your journey through the Babymetal galaxy of music.

Yes, the first pose they started dancing with and the last pose they ended with was that "let me think about it" pose. The others are all kinds of expressions when thinking about things, which is really funny.

This song doesn't get enough credit, in my opinion. To be honest, I can't even say whether the message is positive, as the lyrics are very unspecific and open to interpretation. But I love the music and choreography (especially Yui's yabai-face), it always puts me in a good mood. I think I have a soft spot for Ska, even though I don't really listen to it. As usual, it's integrated perfectly here, and it gives the song a very special charm.
