Thank you for keeping it real. Everyone is fawning over this is like the best thing and I'm like, what?! YG doesn't understand rap, when you have such a super simple hard beat you HAVE to bring hard lyrics, rhyming schemes and flows. Not just repetative lines. Asa and Ruka's rapping ability is totally being wasted. Let's see what "Drip" bring with GD writing their lyrics......

LOL the description. yeah it's unfortunate because Babymonster has some incredibly talented members but this is not it for me. it just feels so empty, especially lyric-wise. like if you're gonna rap, make it about something. and if you have a song title like Clik Clak, you could do so many intriguing things but this was a bit of a letdown.

"eenie meenie miney mo, the writer gots ta go" LOL! I'M DEAD!🤣🤣🤣 100% true, btw. Also, the composition is a MESS! Finally, a new beat, and the song is over.

Its kinda entertaining seeing you sqirm your way through this reaction. But hey, I'm not here to hear my own opinion echoed back to me. I want to hear your thoughts. On a side note as suggestion: React to their new episode of [BAEMON NEWS 7]. Its beyond hilarious (and also very self aware). The girls are just such amazing comedians and I hope they keep these episodes coming for future releases as well. As to your reaction: At least Asa had writing credits on some of the past songs but not on "Clik Clak" (Lyrics by Malaynah, Ricky Luna, Rolando Luna, Choice37, Master Wu). I love Babymonster and for "Clik Clak" I like the minimalistic production as well as performances / attitude and the black & white concept for the MV. I also like how they build on the beat until the switch up at the end leading into the title track "Drip" (best part of the song). But yeah... the lyrics are bad and I'm DEFINITELY not the target demographic for this song. But I like at least aspects of it and respect them for trying something different. The girls are amazing as always.

Can we stop with the eeny meeny, click clack, boom boom pow???!!! Let the girls rap. Give em real lyrics. We've all seen the intro solos. They can be fire if you let them. Why is this so difficult for YG ? 😡

based on the previews, this isn't even the worst lyric offender in the album 😬😬 but the other songs sound so much better at least!

I still have plenty of faith! Not every group needs to hit on every song for me, it's rare that's the case.

Absolutely agree with you but Rami killed it. And its kinda growing on me. There are other tracks on the album I much more worried about.

I only like the last 40 seconds of the song when it picks up tempo, dunno what else to say lol

I think the last part of the song is a transition to the other Title track DRIP if I'm not mistaken 😊

Love babymonster down however the song has slightly grown on me more and definitely an intro. I agree that the lyrics are very empty and amateur. I feel we didn't need to repeat 3 or four words 4 times in a chorus and the ennie meanie line just feels like filler. I know YG hired a bunch of new writers and producers but I hope they re evaluate who they hire and take on the feedback.

I think sometimes people forget they are under age girls, so they need to do age property lyrics. Raps lyrics are very aggressively.

I don’t dislike it but im not crazy about it! Wish they had switched it up a little bit during the chorus
@KpopPrince25 күн бұрын
I like the small element the 2nd chorus brings. Like another comment said, when the foundation of your song is going to be simple -- you NEED powerful lyrics/flow backing it

I think it's ok, it does a job. YG loves his onomatopoeia and it's not that serious for everyone. There are people who will hate this track and people that love it and that's ok. It amazes me sometimes that people love songs that I can't stand. The one thing I would disagree with you on is that the lyrics are "objectively" bad, I've come to accept that anything considered "art" is always subjective. Having said all that, after listening to all the teasers, I knew this song was not going to be the highlight for me and you will probably enjoy a few of them.
@Guthwulf1125 күн бұрын
I don't think he means "objectively" bad. Yes, its subjective and maybe these lyrics are intentional this way meant to be not serious and more jokingly or playful (maybe even making fun of these type of "on the nose bragging" lyrics). Its always possible that we just don't get it or are not the target audience.

I'd love to see them represent their own experience/life/history in their music more, rather than cosplaying a pretty low quality image of hip hop. For example, Asa's self-written thing from Last Evaluation where she reflected on being a young foreigner in Korea, learning a new language, being without family or friends, etc. Much more genuine and powerful than "ding dong ding dong i'm king kong." So far in their discog, even with their more melodically great stuff ("Like That"), the writing is pretty questionable in terms of its age appropriate-ness. I'm sort of surprised it wasn't received similarly to something like "Cookie" by New Jeans.
@KpopPrince25 күн бұрын
It for sure would come off less plastic. Idk, I can give pop a total pass for feeling manufactured -- or if you're going for a clearly playful hip-hop vibe. When you're playing it straight, it needs to be more authentic feeling
@epitapher25 күн бұрын
@@KpopPrince Yeah, agreed. Realistically, people aren't typically seeking out this genre for its lyrics, but for performance, charisma, production, etc. But even those aspects are served better when the performer has an easier time connecting with the material. I do think one of the main branding points of this group is that it's meant to be a little "kid-ish" to start, and grow or mature with its core audience over the coming years. While at this point I'm pretty confident I'll never be part of that core audience and just have a hard time buying into YG groups in general, the girls are obviously talented enough that I'm excited to see their progression either way.

Lol the face with the "eenie meenie mini mo" line was funny. Please remember the kiddish sounding bars are on brand coz they are BABY monsters.. everyone is entitled to their opinion and I respect that.. i just think the writers are leaning into the BABY aspect of the concept. So I just take it with a grain of salt and overall the song is sonically pleasing, for me atleast.
@KpopPrince25 күн бұрын
That's where I'm split -- like is it intentional? Because then I'd want them to lean into that waaaay more while visually playing it straight and serious. That sounds like fun
