I love how Peter forgets he's the only one who's live, of course they're not used to playbacks and such things. That era of Babyshambles is always the saddest to see, just before Gemma left. Just after that we get an angrier Peter, unhinged. I never understood how he could ever finish the song after that bridge.

Correct - he smashed it up really badly during a performance at Wireless 2005 and had to pay a lot of money to have it repaired and restored.

This was Peter at his absolute peak in my opinion. Mid 2004 to mid 2005 he was absolutely on fire. He was messy but not too messy, angry, but not twisted by bitterness. That lineup of Babyshambles was the best they ever had. I saw their set at Manchester Ritz in September 2004 and it's still probably the best gig I've ever been to. The energy was unreal. Never experienced anything quite like it. People are going to hate me for this, but I think that period of Babyshambles was better than The Libertines. I liked that heavier sound. Paul Epworth did a really good job of capturing it on the Killamangiro single. Mick Jones' production on the album was too thin. Pat is an astonishingly good guitarist. Gemma was a great drummer for them. Big heavy sound. Good use of the toms. Adam is a good drummer but Gemma suited the band better in my opinion.

Yes. And Paul Epworth did a great job producing the single. They were mad to use Mick Jones for the album instead of Epworth. Jones' production style is too thin. Stephen Street did a good job with the second album though. Just a shame they lost Gemma and Pat along the way.

Killamangiro is a corker of a song. One of Doherty's best and just as good as any of the songs off the first Libertines album, Up The Bracket. I have mixed feelings about Babyshambles though. Pete was hanging around with some pretty unsavoury characters and doing far too many drugs around this time.
