And people have the audacity to dismiss such a poet as "just a dirty drug addled rock-star" in years to come, when the chemicals that have inspired, hindered, but definitely not limited Pete have been forgotten, I hope he is remembered for his fucking awe inspiring artistic output. In my mind he is on a par with someone like Jim Morrison or Dylan, even Lennon.

If he didn’t be so open with the media and “hid” his demons he would be selling like Damon rice or someone of that ilk for me he’s the best songwriter Britain’s produced since Lennon meaning he’s on a par with all the artists u mentioned but Lennon for me was the best musician to walk the planet but Pete is 2nd and that’s a huge accolade considering the talent we’ve produced from joy division to the smiths to uugghh Ed sheeran LoL to the jam the pistols, dire straits (a lot of folk think they’re American) to pink floyd the list could fill a small paperback but your comment is very well put 👌🏼

Such a beautiful song, it feels like the verses are the calm and numbness which the drug brings across, and the chorus is the rush of feeling when the feelings come back and you can see reality again.

For me Doherty is the best song writer to grace the shores of Albion since Lennon. The man is misjudged due to the poisonous media hounding him on a daily basis over several years. People who I know that have met him have told me that he is such a nice guy to be around. He doesn't get the credit he is due if you ask me. The Albion sails on course!
@trayc27623 жыл бұрын
Alklan: Agreed. Finest song writer of his generation with really only Sheffield's finest, Alex Turner, Richard Ashctoft are close.....Then we've Weller and an occasional Noel g bit of brilliance,; less y than he is lauded for though imo. Ashcroft of course has that amazing, heartbreakingly haunting yet also optimistic occasionally voice that I'd have to say any artists" noew (again just my irrelevant opinion) and surpasses Peter's sweet, heartfelt singing voice....... Please don't feel I'm picking a disagreement with you, far from it. Ashcroft is a fine lyricist and an astonishging vocalist; Doherty has the edge for me lyrically but his vocals lay bare his emotions and that is brave and beautiful in itself. Turner annoyed me a bit since he went yankee quiff-tastic and impossible not to mention Strummer of The Clash and Weller of the Jam albeit acknowleding that they're not the same generation we've discussed. Love and peace brother xxx💙 Hgope you are well? X.

Interesting you said that, albeit 9 yrs ago because for me he fiits so cogently and I can't imagine a more befitting king of indie,.....though I'd be inclined to suggest garage rock or indie punk as the genre really.
