I feel so lucky, I baby sit for a lady with 2 kids, a 8 year old and a 1 year old, she stays in the house and works, the kids are very good and I have created a bond with the 1 year old, she rarely leaves, is super understanding about everything, and doesn't have any pets or unsafe areas, and lives 10 minutes away!

Could you make videos on these three topics please? Infant care When things go wrong: lost child (That always seemed so scary!) Babies that always cry Thanks so much Sarah
@BabysitterBoss4 жыл бұрын
Infant care - infants can't walk and must be carried. They also can't talk or recognize danger. They require constant watching and depend completely on you. Understanding that they are too young to know or follow rules is helpful. Caring for an infant is very demanding and requires a lot of patience on your part. Make sure you have at least 6 months of babysitting experience before you accept a job babysitting an infant. Lost child - here's what you need to know. When you're babysitting, you are responsible for the child at all times. You are the child's bodyguard. Children need to be watched at all time, especially in public places. The key is to prevent a child from getting lost. Crying babies - crying is how an infant communicates. The infant is most likely hungry, wet, sleepy, or in pain. Check for those things first, and then comfort the infant by cuddling, gently rocking, softly talking, slowly walking the infant, or offer a pacifier. If the infant is still crying after 20 minutes, call a back-up adult for help.

I had to babysit thirteen screaming children all within the age range of 3-7, and they all had eaten way too much sugar, and it was late, so they were all grumpy, and when I was doing my head count that I did every ten minutes, I noticed that there were only twelve kids instead of thirteen, so I was freaking out at this point, so I put on a movie for the kids telling them that she went upstairs, so I went upstairs (I was babysitting them in my basement) and went outside and found her playing outside with the parents watching her, and apparently, she got bored and decided to go outside, without my permission, and the parents thought I gave her permission because she told them I did, and they believed her, but luckily I didn’t get in trouble. My parents said it would be fine for my first babysitting experience and I’ve dealt with the same kids before, plus the parents were home, but outside. Most chaotic potluck ever!

I’m 16 and this is my first time taking a babysitting job ( I’ve babysat my little cousins and my brother but didn’t get paid) and I’m not sure if I can handle the job. I’m taking care of a 5 year old and a 3 year old for over 12 hours 😰 but I’m getting paid well. I wanna help out the mom especially during this covid situation but i’m getting really stressed out when I babysit them. Any advice?
@BabysitterBoss4 жыл бұрын
Wow! That is a big job for sure. I would definitely take a look at the student resources that Safe Sitter has (you can find them here safesitter.org/student-resources/). Make sure you have a back-up adult that can be there in 5 minutes if you need help and don't be afraid to call that adult for help or advice if things get out of control. Most importantly, stay in control of your own emotions. Kids can feel your stress and anxiety. If you play it cool, they will as well!

What about finding a job? I'm 12 and I've been looking for my first job since I took the course in September. My parents don't have any friends with small children and I live in a rough neighbourhood so I can't post flyers or anything. I really want to babysit but I can't find any jobs

@BabysitterBoss4 жыл бұрын
That is tough. What about aunts and uncles? Do they have children or friends with small children? If your parents want to post you availability on social media, they need to really work with you to screen every job request you may get.

Can you make a video about what to do when kids get violent and hit you during tantrums?
@BabysitterBoss4 жыл бұрын
Temper tantrums are most common with toddlers. When it happens, you want to ignore the child until the tantrum has ended. If the child falls to the ground kicking, move things out of the way so the child will not be harmed and things won't get broken. When the tantrum ends, distract the child with a game or play.

What if the parents tell you to use physical punishment like spanking or something more violent when disciplining the child?, should you call the police and have the child taken away?
@BabysitterBoss3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely not. If a parent asks you to discipline in a way you aren't comfortable with, tell them. Also tell them how you will manage behavior (I have a video on that here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r5jQiGuPatGootE).

Try offering to watch the kids while the parent is home and can supervise. Maybe if the parent sees how good and responsible you are, he/she will hire you as a babysitter.

A Mommy's Helper basically babysits while the mom is still home. A babysitter babysits without any adults present. Being a Mommy's Helper is a great step in starting to babysit!

If they say yes ask them if they want you to where a mask in the house (ngl idk someone might do that) do whatever they tell you and you will have a babysitting job!
