Bach - Prelude and fugue in C minor BWV 549 - Koopman | Netherlands Bach Society

A prelude and fugue - recorded here for All of Bach with Ton Koopman - by the young Bach. The pieces can be dated to around 1705-6 and show how Bach practices and plays with the complexity of counterpoint and its rules, and breaking those rules. The prelude, in particular, is all about leg work. A virtuoso pedal solo introduces a questioning motif, on which Bach elaborates in the manuals.

Great video. Still remember my first time hearing Koopman play this peice on a recording of the great Gabler organ many years ago. Went from loving Rock and Heavy Metal music the most to loving Baroque/organ music the most.Thank you Ton Koopman and NBS for this performance!

I listened to probably 20 different recordings and other then koopman playing faster the sound blows any other recording out of the water. Your opinion is pointless man go listen to who you think is better because no one really cares what you think.
