Madi leaves before final rose ceremony. Then he tells Hannah Ann that he can’t propose & he’s so sorry. He then goes home alone & tells his parents what happened. He’s debating whether he should chase Madi or let her go. That’s when Mom says “don’t..let.. her..go.” Then we’re left on a cliff hanger & don’t find out answers about him & Madi until the reunion special, where we learn they are together & happy but “taking things slow.”

Here's my theory to the dreadful ending(as I believe he doesn't deserve either girls): He goes on a date with Hannah Ann first, Peter's family/Barb loves her. And then since she doesn't get any validation from him, she decides to leave. So he looks devastated in the beginning of his and Madison's date. And while on their date he tells his parents that Hannah Ann has left, so Barb goes " don't let her go"etc etc... Sadly, Maddison also leaves on the final rose ceremony. Shocker. He goes back to Hannah Ann probably and apologizes. Happy ending? Lets see.
