"Taking Care Of Business", "Let It Ride" and "Roll On Down The Highway" are all great hits of Bachman Turner Over Dive, I'm sure anyone would agree, any one of these would be an awesome choice to react to next. "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet", leave it to Bachman Turner Overdrive to make stuttering a cool thing, this is a classic gem. I really enjoyed watching this, guys, thanks!

A great song by BTO.The stutter was intentional,a joke by Randy to his brother Gary who had a stutter.Randy sang lead on this and Fred Turner who played bass also sings lead on some of their songs.Robbie Bachman another brother of Randy is the drummer.Tim Bachman was a guitarst and another brother, but left the band before this album.I graduated high school the year this came out and had the eight track of this album.A great time to be a teen, with some great music being made.

Lead Guitarist and Singer in this song is Randy Bachman (pronounced Backman) if you remember The Guess Who’s “American Woman” he was their Lead Guitarist. He left the Guess Who because he is a Mormon and the band was getting too much into drugs. In the 1970’s, there was a craze about CB radios used by truckers driving cross-country in the US. BTO created much of the soundtrack to the 1970’s with hits like, “Let it Ride”, “Roll on Down” and “Taking Care of Business” which was used by Office Depot as their theme song in the 2000’s. Great band, underrated guitar player, Randy Bachman.

I saw an interview with him many years ago. He said the band had practice and he couldn't be there in time so he asked that they let his brother who stuttered sit in with them until he could arrive. His brother had a stutter and this the way his brother sang it. The band loved it. When he arrived they asked him to sing it like his brother.

Randy Bachman wasn't planning to release the song with the stuttering vocal. He sang it with the stutter to poke fun at his brother Gary, who had a speech impediment. During microphone checks, he would sing it with the stutter and recorded a version that was intended just for Gary. His record company liked it a lot better than the non-stuttering version, so that's the one they released. Eventually, Gary stopped stuttering.

The stuttering was done, because this song was originally a warm up piece used by the band in the studio. One of Randy’s brother’s had a very bad stutter, so Randy wrote this song as a way to tease his brother. It was never intended to be recorded, but one of their albums was short a song. Their manager suggested using this song, without the stuttering, but he decided it sounded better with it left in. Randy is from my home town of Winnipeg, which is also home town to the “Guess Who”……the band, Randy was with before leaving to form BTO with Fred Turner. Both bands had loads of hit records!

Randy explained this in his book. He pronounces his name BACK-man. Their records got a lot of radio play in the USA before they did a tour here. Americans pronounced his name BOCK-man. He tried correcting it when BTO first started playing in the USA, but it was hopeless. So he gave up. It’s BACK-man in Canada and BOCK-man in the USA. He says it’s fine except when he’s in one country and calls somebody in the other one. “Hello. This is Randy BOCK-man.” “Who?” “Oh I ‘m sorry. Randy BACK-man.” “Oh. Hi Randy.” The price of fame. 8-)

Randy Bachman, the guy who wrote the song almost left it off the album...the stuttering vocal he was teasing his younger brother Garry...here's the story... "Way back when, my brother Garry, one of four Bachman boys, had a speech impediment; he stuttered and stammered. For the ultimate tease I wrote a song like he spoke. Then I called him up and scared him by telling him it would be on the album. “The words just flowed out without thought: ‘I met a Devil woman, and she took my heart away.’ That sounded good. Then for the chorus I copied the way he’d say: ‘You ain’t seen n-n-nothing yet,’ and also the way he stumbled on ‘f-f-forget’, and the way he said ‘b-b-b baby’. I liked it as an idea but I was never going to finish it off [for the album].” Randy would have shelved the song altogether had not Mercury’s artist liaison man, Charley Fach, intervened.

Next BTO, Not Fragile. This was one of the best Canadian bands ever. Randy Bachman was with The Guess Who, and when he left that band he got together with Fred Turner and formed BTO. Not Fragile is still one of my favorite albums after all these years. Everyone in the band is outstanding, and the title track doesn't get the attention of the hit singles, but it ROCKS. Another underappreciated song on that album is Giving it All Away, it is unexpected, and if I say more it would be giving too much away.

Randy Bachman actually pronounces his name "BACK-MAN". I don't know why, but trust me on this, I've seen him live more times than I can count. If you don't believe me, google some interviews and see how he is introduced. Now play some more BTO!

The Bach part of the name is actually pronounced like Rock but with a B. I'm positive you've already been corrected. A GREAT song by them and a favorite of mine is Takin Care of Business. If you liked this one, you'll love that one! It was really fun to see you bros. enjoying this! What a great review! Thanks guys! What a great way to start my day!

Bros, before I discovered Led Zeppelin on July 4, 1979, my favorite band was Earth, Wind & Fire. They are very much like The Beatles in the sense that they sing about love and unity. The Founder, Maurice White was a studio drummer at Chess Records aka “Cadillac Records”. There is a movie by that title and if you wish to see and learn where the name Rolling Stones and the inspirations of Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton among hundreds of rock guitar Gods comes from, watch that movie! Back to EW&F, please review the song Fantasy with lyrics. The band is not only great but their message is greatly needed today in particular, your neck of the world. Btw, the singer extraordinaire’s name is Phillip Bailey. Enjoy kzbin.info/www/bejne/nWTVd6aIbpmtjZY

Super talented Randy Bachman. Please delve into his music. From the Guess Who to BTO (Bachman Turner Overdrive) to his music influenced radio show, Vinyl Tap, Randy is no. 1 in most Canadians hearts.

So, the story goes.... The band was screwing around in the studio and Randy Bachman decided to screw with his brother (a guitarist in the band) who had a "stuttering issue". While there were playing recording it for fun a record exec happen to be walking by and heard it. He said "That's the song". So they recorded it with the stutter and had a great rock anthem.
