My dad would tell me of hitching rides on the anticlimber of the old CSL streetcars and the CTA Green Hornets(PCC cars) so for Father's Day or his birthday 30 some odd years ago I painted one of the Bachman Brill cars for Chicago Surface Lines and one of the Bachman Green Hornets and put them on a display base for him. When we were clearing out his condo 5 years ago I was able to reclaim the G scale CP FA, tank car and GN caboose, an Adlake CNW lantern and a switch lamp table lamp but wasn't able to find the 2 streetcars and figure they might have gone in the estate sale

You’re right about bachmann. They’re good and all, but, over 300 dollars is way to much for an engine that doesn’t even have separately applied grab irons. I like how they call them sound value too.

SMT - Don't forget to mail in the warranty post card! Now that you have 2 trolleys, maybe you should look for a car barn kit? Speaking of pantographs, I recall seeing a film on Russia where they showed a trolley car with a GG1 styled pantograph instead of a trolley pole. There are electric freight locomotives that have a trolley pole instead of a pantograph, like the ones used on the Iowa Traction Railroad.

SMT, I love your content so much, and I absolutely love seeing traction equipment on your layout! ...But can I be really, really obnoxious? **Polar Express glasses kid voice** From a purely technical standpoint, this would be a streetcar or a trolley-car, a trolley is actually the shoe/wheely bit on the end of the pole.

I really don't mind the new Bachmann's. It's the old one's that suck. The old pancake motors have given me nothing but trouble. Same with the drive gears, I can never quarter them right on steam engines, even after I replace the gears. When I do get them quartered, they un-quarter themselves. The new Bachmann's definitely have a better design. I am getting a Spectrum N&W class J for Christmas with dcc sound and I think it's great, except for the decoder. The decoder is terrible, which is why I'm replacing the crappy decoder it came with to a Soundtraxx Tsunami 2 TSU-2200.

Actually it is a streetcar. That model is a precursor of the PCC streetcars in Toronto.

Perhaps the road should be converted to 4 lane (the one where the streetcar tracks are). Cars go on streetcar tracks and sometimes streetcars are given dedicated right of ways.

I think you made a mistake when you said it has a can motor in it. You got it for $20 is a great deal! If they did have new motors, it might explain the higher price range.

Well you can see the can motor in the break down included. As I said, the reason they we're selling them so cheap is because the seller didn't want to supply bachmann stuff anymore.

This trolley has been made for a long time earlier versions had the pancake motor. Th current version have the can motor. If the trolley in this video had a pancake motor it would be a lot louder than it is.

First
