Awesome video! I kind of hope in the future you two could dissect Rener's Triple Threat back control and attack sequence and give your feedback on it.

I too was hoping you would address this issue. I've become a fan of the weak side, thanks to Ryron and Rener. When you show the escape at 4:10, it ignores key elements of the Triple Threat like keeping your head under the opponent's head, climbing the low hook across the chest, escaping the hips and controlling the low shoulder. It's normal since it's not a game you play. It reminds me of when Ryron and Rener did a breakdown of Josh Barnett submission of Dean Lister. You could see their headlock was nowhere near as good as Josh's since it's not a game they play either. Anyway, great video. I really like the detail of grabbing your own head at 9:30 and the conclusion was awesome "hopefully it stimulates more discussion". Stephan, you make some of the best videos online. Thank you so much.

I almost asked a question about this, but for some reason I knew it was going to come up anyway. Great video, thanks!

DDS guys prefer the weak side for chokes. And they compete in mainly nogi. So I believe that's enough evidence to show that the weak side is just as strong for chokes and works well in nogi. Now that is a small sample size and I'm not married to this idea.

strong side is best because you can abort easily and stay on top. that is if you want to know how to fight, if you want to larp then do what ever you want.

I think in jujitsu there is no one or the other, one of them works better for what the opponent is defenseless for. that's it you, should know everything to defend everything

Being a tall guy myself, I sometimes have a hard time finishing the RNC. It seems my opponent slips down everytime. Views on this?

I personally opt for trying to get the RNC as deep as possible, even if that means having your choking arms hand being on the back of your shoulder. Another thing that might help is maybe bridging your hips to bring your arms closer to their neck. Admittedly I'm not super tall, but I do these with shorter people a lot

weak side is more dynamic. strong side is attacking only chokes, its easier to defend 1 attack than it is do defend a triple threat from the weak side which is choke ,armbar, triangle.
