Back Deck Fabrication PT.1 | Jon Boat to Bass Boat Restoration

Time for another boat build video. Working on this boat while also trying to fish out of it is going very slow. I'm working on adding a rod locker that's like 9 ft deep. Yea that's a lot of room for rods... and some battery storage, some gas tank storage, and a pedestal mount, and a livewell.

I'm at a stand still with my build. I think part of the reason is I can't bring myself to drill holes in my boat, and the other reason is I feel overwhelmed with how much work it is. So keep the videos coming, hopefully I'll get the motivation and courage to do it. Great video.

How difficult is it to make a livewell system if your boat was never equipped with one? I mean where does it draw water from a ND exit the boat?

The short answer is that it all depends... The long answer: It's not difficult at all to make the livewell itself. The difficult part is creating a deck around it all to make it look like it belongs in the boat. Typically a fixed livewell system has a transom aerator to pull in the water (amzn.to/2mXUrTn) through a hole in your transom (usually the lowest point), another aerator pump to recirculate the water and then a third pump (or valve to change the flow of water) to pump out the water in the livewell. And then of course you would need a container for the livewell and then to create a deck around it all just depends on what you want to build. Another option is to do a removable livewell. You can just buy a 120 cooler and put a cooler aerator system in it. hey man, i know here in Australia a guy made a swing away console. Its called a Ganat Swing-away console, that might be an option ? dependant on what you were planning

That swing-away console looks like a good idea but that's going to be a little expensive for my project budget.

I like the project you're doing but my suggestion don't use wood use all aluminum you want to cut down I'll wait put your plan on paper before you got a project
