Escaping the back can seem complicated, in this video I try to simplify and make clear on how to get control of your opponents arm with the highest amount of leverage possible.

Hey Firaz, at 1:35 and 4:55, I counter with a inverted/reverse catch wrestling kimura. Works like a charm. Most students tap, whiole upperbelt will simply agressively pull out their arm for fear to be submitted.

That wrist lock is also found in Japanese JJ, Aikido, and Ninjutsu. I love this application of it as an escape. Very cool!

Excellent as usual coach! Question: when you escape the lower half, can you rotate around to catch the lat trap in top side control?

Coach question: why do we never see this escape in mma? Is it because of the gloves?
@urbansamurai261

Trying to twist someone's wrist against resistance is actually very very hard and if they're as strong or stronger its almost impossible but passing the choke arm to the opposite shoulder is a very legit tactic used all the time in mma. If you see someone turn into the person who has back control its usually because they passed that arm over to the opposite shoulder

Nice technique coach. May I ask, why not try to finish from there? The arm is extended and the wrist is locked. It looks like if you put your weight on it, you should be able to improvise an arm bar or simply get a tap with the wrist lock. I'm sure the other person could escape, but If they are reluctant to give up the back to do so, I think you could finish it there.

Need a bit more leverage to make that lock work from that position.
@dragonjohnson6352

@@zshakur Yea but what about the fall he does at 4:54. He's got his weight down on it a bit. He could use his head as the fulcrum for an improvised armbar, or just commit to the wrist lock. Looks that way to me anyway

@@dragonjohnson6352seems maybe lower percentage. And if it fails you lose the control and they still have your back. Whereas if you use it to escape, 100% you'll end up back in a neutral position. If your opponent is much worse at grappling, maybe go for the armbar, but if it's a close, dangerous match, better to take the high-percentage escape probably. That would be my guess
