@@lmfao8245 I had problems with the guy before, at a bar. I'm heavily tattooed (frowned upon in small cowboy bars in texas) and he had talked shit several times before at a local bar (he had so many buddy's that I always had to hold my tongue ) then we bumped into each other at a grocery store. It was only him and one other guy so I knew that if he was going to run his mouth it was on. Sure enough he started talking smack, so I let him have a good tongue lashing and he walked up on me pretty quick with his friend behind him. I had tortillas and a bunch of other stuff in my hands he tried to grab me around the throat, I stepped back and he lost his grip while at the same time dropping my groceries I stepped back a little bit more and then lunch forward as I pivoted locating the side of his jaw as my Target and he dropped like a bag of hammers. Luckily they had everything on camera and I was able to slip out of that one without jail time

@@lmfao8245 I had only used that move because there was two of them, and I knew that the first shot I had to be a hard one to keep the other guy from advancing. I would never use a spinning back fist in most scenarios, but it worked like a dream, very very effective but 8 times out of 10 times, you're going to cause serious damage and it's going to get you in trouble. And it's not a move I recommend anybody try to use without lots of practice, because you are most likely going to miss, lose your balance and your opponent will swoop on you.

Be careful when you execute the spinning back fist if your target too close to you and your elbow hit the target instead of fist your elbow will hyper extended and dislocate.

I usually use my backfist to recover after big overhand or powerful hook that missed due to the oponent stepping back or i use it after couple of fast light jabs (concentrate on chest area so that oponent may lower his guard) in philly shell.

Nice video... Thank you so much... But, what if your opponent is taller than you... Considering spinning back fist
@EffectiveMartialArts
@EffectiveMartialArts 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment, Amol mk, and good question. Indeed you would need to adjust the height and angle of your spinning back fist if your opponent is taller. You would need to get in closer to still reach the face, and strike up in order to hit the jaw. The same could be said of a smaller opponent, except you would need to adjust the angle downwards. Hope this helps :) - Patrick

It is a good video on the back fist and spinning backfist. The only thing,is to bring your non striking hand up a little higher to protect the other side of your face, while spinning. Because you are giving up your back for a split second. If you are going against a experience,skilled fighter,he or she can easily block that spinning backfist and throw a over right to your face, because you didn't have your guard up,protecting the other side of your face. But the video is still a good. Thank you.
@EffectiveMartialArts
@EffectiveMartialArts 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the suggestion, Carl. This video needs to be updated for a more applied approach, and how to land this in sparring... Protection with the non-striking hand is important (especially for beginners), although I would say it's not a hard rule, as sometimes it's best to prioritize mobility, momentum, or balance. As you can see in professional fights, that rule is often forgone. Thanks again! - Patrick

Hey I spin all the way around and strike. My impact force has a total of 360 degrees of momentum. The Impact force has enough energy to break bones and cause serious damage to ones own hand. I practice this as my primary defensive move even if I miss. When I execute this manuver my target is always several feet beyond the contact point. So there is never an anticipated moment of impact . I do my best to KO my opponent on the first strike.

Thanks for your comment, Saf Patel. I'm developing a new concept, EMA is a martial arts curriculum that includes realistic techniques in all ranges of fighting (striking, wrestling, ground), organized in a progressive and methodical structure. The EMA belt system goes from white to black, with red being for school owners. I know it will take a while to catch on, but I do believe this is the future of martial arts. Hope this helps. - Patrick

This seems easy , but put in practice you may be to slow , miss his/her face and hit something else or get grabbed before you land it so it's important to have a buddy to train with or use a punching bag

Indeed, practicing the movement is only the first step, there are a lot of other considerations for application: distance, timing, setups, follow-ups, etc. Will expand on this in the future 👍

Both can work. It’s important not to get hung up on the little details too much, and rather focus on the purpose of each technique, and how they fit together. In this case, the most important thing is to develop a sufficient amount of force at the right distance. In application, then it’s all about setups and follow-ups. Hope this helps. - Patrick

Point taken, nonce slayer. In my experience, depending on what part of your opponent you are striking, hitting with the back of the fist, the blade of the hand, or the side of the forearm can work. You just want to avoid hitting solid parts such as the forehead or the skull. Hope this helps. - Patrick

Don't drop you hand to throw a back fist you'll get punched in the face... And the spinning backfist idk where to begin with that.. The key to centripetal force is you don't stop your momentum so if you are throwing a spinning backfist don't turn halfway around and swat at your opponent... Spin all the way through and hulk smash there face off.
@EffectiveMartialArts
@EffectiveMartialArts 6 жыл бұрын
Good point, Malice. Indeed it is risky to drop your hands in a fight, yet if done correctly it can provide an advantage. Watch Domenic Cruz to see this applied at the highest level. As for the spinning backfist, indeed it is best to set it up properly, or use it when you are already in motion to spin from a strike or defensive maneuver. And yes, it is a good option to spin through for more power. Hope this helps. - Patrick

@@EffectiveMartialArts Why don't you spin all the way through?
@EffectiveMartialArts
@EffectiveMartialArts 4 жыл бұрын
Good question, timtak1. Indeed I would, especially if the strike misses, or the person rolls with it. With sufficient reaction from a strong impact though, it makes sense to bounce back to your original stance. In any case, you have to be flexible, and ready to flow to the best option depending on your opponent's reaction. More on this later. Hope this helps. - Patrick
