Personally I have never cared about the elo rating, I just love watching this series. I actually prefer it over the emerald series and I am glad to see you back at it! Don't even worry about the climb in my opinion, just keep battling for the love of the battle.

Kinda agreed, but the games are way higher quality at higher ELO. I'd take a 2000 ELO match over 1500 any day, because enemies seemingly do random nonsensical stuff at lower ranges. And even at 2k, people still aren't exactly great at the game tbh.

preciate that strife. I'm glad I see the support of people liking this series as much as if not more than the emerald series. I will continue the climb aspect of it, because that's kind of the point of the series. We'll see where that can take me, I just hope I can breach the top 500. But I do have ideas to throw in more showdown battles with the presidents (ex. a 1v1v1v1 with the presidents including bush) down the line. Thanks again!

This is the only presidents channel that does the ladder climb, yes? I love that you’re still doing this alongside the emerald series. Having one of these every so often or in between a few episodes of emerald is a nice reprieve. Love the content man. Including yourself in this was cool! Bet it was nerve racking to break immersion and all but they’ve mentioned you as the editor for a while so you were always present in your videos anyway. After rewatching the Emerald series twice and now rewatching the showdown series, I can say I'm a real dylfan. Honestly thoughts on the Showdown series: It's neat and I think it's hit its stride after a few episodes. However, the format itself makes it less fun than the emerald series. The game playthrough for Emerald has story telling, tangible progression, and guest characters which all culminate in jokes being amazing with payoffs as the series developed. The format of a showdown ladder climb doesn't enable those things as each game is isolated. And the battles can't be scripted like the emerald series either. The advantage of the showdown series is that every battle has stakes, which is why I'm looking forward to the Platinum Nuzlocke - which seems like it will combine the lessons of the previous serieses.

I'm actually cool with you playing on the showdown ladder, I'm just used to the presidents having each other to comment on their moves when they play so nothing too big. Speaking of which, maybe you could have the presidents comment about your gameplay on the start of the next video and it could work like a recap too. Well I mean like, you are officially the editor for the Presidents so you are a part of the crew too and secondly, I'm sure the Presidents would have anything to say seeing their own editor play for the first time.

To make your personal commentary a bit more exciting, maybe pre-record and then set yourself some bullet notes you can hit on while watching the matches you played. That way you don't need to split your engagement between the match at hand, and the audience. Some of these longer matches can get a little boring without consistent exposition.

30:20 what is the point of tera normal if maushold is already normal type?

tera'ing into a type you already are gives those moves an extra buff on top of the normal stab. So with stab the moves are 1.5x, but if you tera into your stab type, those moves become 2.25x I believe. So it's a great offensive strategy, while tera'ing into other types are often more defensive strategy. Broadly speaking that is.
