Welcome back to the ladder climb guys! In this episode, the presidents continue their Generation 9 Random Battles series. This is probably my favorite episode thus far, with some exciting moments and a game that comes down to the final move. yeah they actually lowkey threw, they didn't have to make that switch they already had a 100% win, but they actually gave us a chance to get lucky with a 25% full paralysis to win it. I think they thought the darkrai would stay as a poison type, meaning it could die in one shadow ball. That's all I can think of. anyway glad you liked the episode!

I'm curious, do you play your matches differently with a president in mind for who you are playing? Or do you just play however and then pick which president will commentate which battle afterwards? (hypothetically, obviously you are just editing for the actual presidents who really play)

hey journey good question. For the emerald series I definitely keep in mind which prez is playing, but for this series no i do not. I just play for like 45 minutes and then choose afterwards. For example i played this session, then I decided on how I wanted the script to unfold. I wanted Joe to get the battle with that May segment, and then I wanted Obama to have the intense battle with a some psychological warfare, and it works that he lost because now each president has one loss. So then obviously trump got the opener, which i liked because he got haxed with RNG early on, kind of the theme with him. Then i just went from there.

yeah with new mons/moves/abilities/gimmicks being added like every year, it can be hard to keep up with. I don't really keep up with any meta besides randbats. I don't even really play the new games anymore, so all my new age pokemon knowledge comes from randbats haha. I don't blame you for being hesitant in joining, but I will say, each round of the tournament is a best of 3, where the battlers get to counterpick generations. So you could always counterpick what you're more comfortable with. Nice prizes for the winner too and no hard feelings if you back out. Consider it brotha!

google chrome exclusive (although probably others for other browsers), just google "pokemon showdown enhanced tooltips extension". theres a few different ones, some better than others. This one isn't 100% reliable, like it fails to take some things into account. Like it doesn't account for form changes, move type changes (like judgment from arceus), some abilities like ice scales, some other stuff. take it with a grain of salt and keep the calc open.

Naah the last one was a 25% choke, there's no reason to switch darkrai in to use shadow sneak after, you're just risking para. Darkrai is always 100% a win, so shitty play from your opponent, but that sneasler at the start really condemned you :(

for sure I can't think of why he would do that. been baffled. He had to know we were scarfed from when we outsped the sandy shocks. Maybe he thought he would still be a poison type so he was dead to whatever I went for, including shadow ball. Meaning in his head he had to bank on the 25% para dodge.
