Amazingly, since DeadlyDirtBlock hasn't come in here and explanation piston transmutation, I shall Prior to release 1.8, all blocks have numerical values (e.g. Redstone torch is 85). Different rotations or color variants have sub values (e.g. 85:1, 85:2 etc.) With piston transmutation, the block is pushed inside the redstone torch and gains that block's sub-ID value. In later versions you can do this with flowing water, tripwire string, iron & gold pressure plates and the awesome 1.7.2 arrow glitch. >Inb4 🤓

i actually successfully recreated cubfan's transmutation machine on beta 1.7.3 which uses flowing water, i think it's just locational so it doesn't always work depending on where you build it. but it allows you to transmute all wool types. i don't know if it's directional tho

Damn, its been quite a bit since ive watched any Back to Beta content, now i have some catching up to do on videos starting with this one, meaning so far like 9 videos from ya have came out and ima have to catch up on all of em, not only that but i gotta catch up on Ryans vids too. It could corrupt your world if you do it wrong, the pistons have to face a specific direction for it to work
