Milk replacer is $50 per 25lb bag here in Ky. I had one on the bottle and one I couldn't get to take the bottle but got him drinking from a bucket. The bucket baby is older I just weaned him from milk and turned him out on grass. He can come into the barn as he likes and has hay and feed in the barn.

Try a calf jacket for the cooler weather and I’d leave a bucket of fresh water during the day to keep him from getting dehydrated My uncle would only feed milk morning and evening was getting a lot of scouring Put fresh water and a little bit of starter meal and it defo helped with the scouring

Awesome video.get them calf's up to 275 I think they will bring a Premium this summer roper's are having trouble finding calf's and are paying top dollar last week in inid Oklahoma 4 calf's and one jersey nurse cow sold as a five head family for 5500.00

When there's that much work to do fighting wastes precious energy. Bottle calves are a lot of work but they are also so cute. I didn't realize two feedings was enough, I thought we always did three. Do you give them hot milk? Heifer heavy isn't so bad, grows the herd and you can dump the old dolls. Good video. Pax.

Hey! I work on a small dairy farm, and just started making content. My biggest issue is finding a way to prop my phone while I do chores… any pointers? 😅 also, a whisk on hand for the milk replacer helps a lot ❤

If they are eating a lot of feed, I will occasionally wean at 6 weeks. Some calves it takes them the full 8 weeks to start eating enough feed.

I realize it’s just a calf; but, wouldn’t it be comforting to the calf to have a companion in the pen? I don’t know, you’re the cattleman and you know best. The growing herd looks successful and you must be satisfied wholeheartedly.
