i'd probably have some cardboard like interfacing or something that wold at least be waterbroof, use a snap or a velcro instead of a ribbon to close the whole thing. Gosh a smaller size would be a perfect pencil case, a pouch a very minimal wallet, a coin purse. Love it.

Do you think using oil cloth would work as well? Love your projects!!

We haven't worked with oil cloth but after a little bit of research, there doesn't seem to be a reason not to use it!

I have files which are completely covered with fabric. The file is made of thin soft cardboard. And its been stitched over it. Can we stitch over cardboard. Which needle to be used? And regular presser foot will do?

We wouldn't recommend stitching through actual cardboard. However, if it is cardstock (thick paper) you can stitch through it with a thick needle but you just need to expect it to go dull VERY quickly.
