I’m not a teacher, but I work as a tutor through the migrant program in my county! I love seeing what you wear as I have to dress similarly to how a teacher would dress, I do home visits often & I sit with teachers of my kid’s during parent-teacher conferences. Your style is adorable & gives me so many ideas. Also your personality is the best! ❤️

Yeah the school I sub at is very lax with their dress code as well, while a school one of my college professors is a principal at is very strict with their's. I bought some more professional clothes for my student teaching, but I'll also definitely still be wearing jeans.

what is your suggestion on dress down days or open toe shoes for student teachers? should we avoid these to look more professional?

Open toe shoes are fine in schools and jeans on Friday. I feel overdressed compared to some teachers. I would say if students are dressing down its also ok for you to but if you are not sure just dress up and see what teachers do the first time. A lot of teachers wear school T-shirts on those days.

Throughout student teaching, we were always told to present ourselves professionally. I always wore close-toed shoes (flats) just to be safe. You never know if your ST experience will land you an interview! ;) Always be ready and dress professionally, but you don't have to go over the top.
