After Kelowna suffered a horrible wildfire, things are beginning to return to normal, and our Farmer's Market is open again. We have been evactuated for a week though, and just return on a Thursday. Is there enough time to do all the prep to make it to a successful market? One thing is for sure, the flowers look amazing this week, the lisianthus, zinnias, and sunflowers are all at or near their peak.
__________
Ian and Serina of YOU CANT EAT THE GRASS feel that every small change can make a big difference to the world we live in. Every garden planted leads to a better future. We hope to inspire and motivate others to make positive changes in their lives by sharing our journey towards greater sustainability as we build our family farm. It's hard work to build a life worth living, and completely worth it!

Those soft colors of the bouquets were my favorites so I’m glad that I noticed them sold at the end. Nice to see you streamline the bouquet making by laying it all out on the table too. Doing one at a time isn’t time efficient.

Serina, I love seeing how while even when you're being a realist you ALWAYS lean to the optimistic side. I've seen your attitude so many times and it's so refreshing. Also, how you showed your gratitude for the firefighters. You are such a good example for your children. And Ian is always there to back you up. Great family.

Hi, thank you for sharing, I love watching your beautiful flowers and tips for growing. I have grown Globe Amaranth or Gomphrena this year for the first time for my dried flowers, which dry very well and was easy to grow. I have seen the Amaranth you grow, but have not seen the Globe Amaranth/ Gomphrena in the videos. Thought I would mention this lovely flower. The purple and light Rose were my favorite. Thank you again for sharing your beautiful flower farm.

The flowers really did look gorgeous. I love the contrast between the punchy bold colours, and the softer more antique of lizzies. I'm amazed you get any works done with cats though. It's like they tag-team being time absorbers lol

In the UK, a lot of store fronts have attached faux floral walls. It is really eye-catching, maybe you could adapt a faux version to make the floral wall last a bit longer. You could change it seasonally too.

The flowers are amazing, as always. The bouquets are incredible! You know I LOVE seeing the kitties. It worries me A LOT how the cats are all over the truck. Under it, in the wheel wells. Cats get up in engines to stay warm. All with tragic consequences. I sure hope they're all brought inside and you take a headcount before you start the truck. And oh that Dusty, getting onto the wrong side of the fence, with that well-traveled road... That market really did look great! Glad the stand did so well. That sign is magnificent! What a great idea!!! Have a great weekend!

Oh how I know how you feel Serina! I had to go back to working full time until Im bringing in more of an income. So all summer I had to harvest after work on thursdays and fridays, stay up all night friday (until morning most of the time) making bouquets, AND THEN go straight to the farmers market until noon! Im so tired by the time i get home I knock out! I dont even unload my vehicle! 😂

Have you considered replacing dried flowers with new dried flowers, if abundance of flowers allow. That way, all the year old flowers would be disposed of and replaced yearly. If there are not abundant flowers to dry, then you keep year old flowers and use them. Just thinking out loud. LOL

You have several hassles all at once, but getting a few minutes to breathe, calm down, get thos cute munchkins in bed, and the tasks will roll. Yeah, that WAS the idea. Oops 🤐. Now I know you made it through, the place for the new perennials is cleared. Remember, don't buy too many seeds, ok? 😂 Well, maybe a few less?🤫🤔 🇨🇦 The way of Canuck life, practical, stubborn as hell, and humour, even if it dark humour.

@@arossnagl nothing to do with the smoke. These two are perpetually behind every single week. Smoke or no smoke. They need to seek the help of some time management consultants asap. If in 90% of your weekly uploads you are habitually talking about being behind for the market the next day, you are doing something really really wrong. They need to fire themselves and hire someone competent to run the farm and generate more income.
