I have a 2019 C7 GS and one of my biggest issues is that there are no good dealers or mechanics in my area that inspire confidence, I can't even get an oil change without being nervous. It's one of the reasons why I won't consider moving to a C8 at this point, not interested in buying a car for 100K+ and if/when I need service, I get treated like I'm bringing in a Volt lol. 2 things I noticed. 1. they used a floor jack at the rear to lift it up to get it on their rack ??? 2nd - I did not noticed if they checked and adjusted the transmission fluid level after changing the DCT Canister Filter ( Unless you added the additional 2 quarts of DCT fluid for tracking).
@HorsePowerObsessed
@HorsePowerObsessed 8 ай бұрын
The used the floor jack to make sure the lift arms didn't touch anything underneath. Perfectly safe to do. They did not adjust the transmission fluid because when you change the filter such a small amount comes out (1/32nd of a quart) it doesn't affect it enough to need adjusting. Eventually it will but we're talking many many filter changes. Also, the Z06 doesn't require the extra 2 quarts, it already comes with it from factory.

What is the technical information you have to recommend do this maintenance of oils change before the factory recommendation? I mean, what is your base to say it should be done before, you can't tell me just because. Is this s technical recommendation or just a feeling?
@HorsePowerObsessed
@HorsePowerObsessed 10 ай бұрын
As stated in the video this is my opinion but based on cars in the past, the C7, GM recommended the first oil change be done at 500 miles due to break in material. Seems the same should be applied here. The transmission is the single most fragile component on this car so again, it seems to me doing filter changes more often could be beneficial since many that are familiar with this transmission state that the filter size is too small for the size of the transmission. At the end of the day it comes down to one thing. Engines/transmissions are expensive. Filters are cheap. It's easy/cheap insurance.

No. GM states that through the filter change process such a small amount of fluid is lost it isn't needed to top off.

I have owned various generations of Corvettes since 1990, never had to change transmission fluid or filter and I have never had any engine or transmission problems. A big waste of money. No one checks your service records when you take your car for warranty work. I have never kept a single service record.

Saw the tech used a floor jack under the engine. It looked like the lift arms were too high. That would scare me jacking anywhere but where the jacking pucks go. Did you ask about that.

I had a C8 Z06, never got to do an oil change because the car was almost constantly in the shop from the day I bought it. One problem after another, and Gm does not stand behind the warranty. Yea, they 'fixed' my car but it was in the shop for months at a time. Total POS and poor excuse for a car, let alone a $100K plus machine. I had to sue GM to get them to fix the car, get some money back and then sold it. The car was never road worthy from the day it left the dealership. It's no wonder the government had to bail out GM, terrible company with even worse cars.

What's the point of the 2,000 rpm's for 8 minutes? If you drive it to the dealership for more than 8 minutes on the highway, isn't that the same thing basically? lol Always good to change fluids! Seems like an easy do it yourself though.
