Also, in part 2, in the alternate 1985, Biff was in the hot tub watching A Fistful of Dollars, starring Clint Eastwood, and marveling at the cleverness of Eastwood's character hiding a metal shield under his clothes to avoid the bullets. There really isn't that many sci-fi/western movies out there. Like three movies, including this one, that I can think off the top of my head. Fun Fact: Yes, ZZ Top was the band during the town party. During one take, the camera broke. While waiting for the camera to be repaired, Michael J. Fox asked if they would play "Hey Good Lookin'" which they did. Afterwards, more requests were played. Two hours later, someone inquired if the camera had been repaired. Robert Zemeckis replied that it had been fixed for quite a while, he just didn't want to stop the party that had evolved.

Another story - Supposedly, ZZ Top or their manager pushed to get Zemeckis to include the band's Cadillac in that scene. Clearly, a Cadillac inexplicably appearing at an 1885 party would be a glaring anachronism, so Zemeckis swiftly rejected the idea.

Needles' gang actually consists of one member of each of the Tannen gangs. The guy riding shotgun in his truck also played a member of Buford's gang in 1885, the guy in the back in yellow played "Data" (the one making chicken sound effects) in Griff's gang in 2015, and the guy in the back wit sunglasses played "Skinhead" (the one who made fun of Marty's jacket) in Biff's gang in 1955. There was a deleted scene where Buford shoots Marshall Stickland, who dies telling his son to remember "discipline" (which gets passed on to Mr. Strickland at the school). That's why the deputy is the one who arrests him at the end. The producers decided the scene was too dark. I think you can find it on KZbin.

@@3DJapan this "fact" is spreading like fire online... but it's not true. Fox was misquoted from his autobiography that I read too. The truth: Because he had first symptoms around 1990 when the doctor actually didn't find out yet thatFox had Parkinson, Fox listed possibilities what could be the problem (he had feelings of stiffness, numbness in his left body side), he also mentioned his accident on BTTF3 with the rope which nearly suffocated him to death. It was only one of many counted possibilies why he had some medical problems. It was listed to find the REAL reason. Fox never wrote or said that he "thinks Parkinson came from this accident". Also not partially. This was a false interpretation from the person that spread that story on the net. In 1991 finally a doctor found Parkinson to be the problem. No movie stunt that went wrong, no sport accident etc etc... Again, he never claimed anything like that. If you read his 4 great books you'll notice that too. Cheers. (Sorry for my bad English. Actually, it wasn't a coincidence that the car fit on the railroad tracks. Roads built by the Romans developed ruts the width of chariot wheels. Wagon builders designed Wagon wheels the same width to avoid damage to the wagons. When they started building trains they used the same tools so train carriages were that same width and that carried forward when automobiles were invented.

That’s the brain-wave analyzer at 1:39. If you recall the first film where Marty arrives at Doc’s house in 1955, that’s the contraption Doc was wearing to try and read Marty’s mind. That’s Buford “Mad Dog” Tannen at 7:07. He’s Biff’s great grandfather, but they are both played by the same actor (Thomas F. Wilson). Believe it or not, Michael J. Fox was accidentally hanged while filming the hanging scene. During the first few takes, Fox stood on a box for the close up scenes where his whole body isn’t shown. Fox thought it didn’t look realistic enough, so he offered to do the stunt without the box. During the 7th take, Fox was getting tired, and he miscalculated the timing in which his hand was suppose to go between the rope and his neck. According to Fox, it was a full thirty seconds before anyone noticed that something was wrong. He was actually unconscious for a short period, but thankfully he survived. 16:09 If you go back and watch the second film, Lorraine in 2015 (Lea Thompson) tells the story about how Marty got into a car accident during a drag race. That one incident ruined his life, but thankfully the lessons Marty learned in 1885 helped him alter that history for the better. P.S. You might be slightly crazy, but I love your reaction videos, and you trying to figure things out.

Just like the Mall starts out being called "Twin Pines Mall" in the first film, but after Marty McFly runs a pine over at the peabody farm in 1955 and returns for the end of the film it's called "Lone Pine Mall".

Just about every movie directed by Robert Zemeckis is great. Forrest Gump, Cast Away, and Who Framed Roger Rabbit come to mind. There actually was a Saturday morning cartoon of Back to the Future in the early 90s where they actually did go back to other points in time like the medieval times. My theory on what the tribe on the horses thought when they saw the Delorian is that they saw it as a sign that they would win the battle they were headed towards. Clara being the epitome of wonderful doesn't totally make up for poor Jennifer getting punted off into a plot cul-de-sac for most of the trilogy, but much like how we get to see the layers of Lorraine in Part 1, it shows that Zemeckis and Gale actually were pretty good at writing female roles... when they actually planned the story around their characters being significant, of course. ;)
@rsrt69103 жыл бұрын
The issue was that the first Back to the Future was never written to be a trilogy. Zemeckis and Gale said that if they had, they wouldn't have had Jennifer getting in the flying DeLorean with Marty and Doc at the very end of the first movie, so they had to find a way to get her out of the way. That's why, as awkward as it is, they left her on the front porch all this time (though technically, from a time travel perspective, she really wasn't there more than a couple hours).
@radicaladz3 жыл бұрын
@@rsrt6910 - sure, but that excuse always feels a bit weak to me. Firstly, if they never intended it to have a sequel or be a trilogy, don't do that ending - tie it up for real. I can relate to them writing themselves into a corner, but if the response is to basically throw that character under a bus so they don't have to deal with the implications of their storyline/character arc going forward, that's still kinda crummy, and it's part of why 2 is my least favourite of them.
@radicaladz3 жыл бұрын
I mean, I get it - Jennifer is sort of a satellite character in the original too, but that's a function of it being Marty's story and not hers. But the moment they established she and Marty have a future together and drag her along, they set up an expectation that ultimately never pays off. Also, not really her fault for getting recast in the role, but Elizabeth Shue is just very bland as her, except when she has the whole fainting scene at the house and then she's just mugging for the camera.

6:21 "He's in the right part of _town,_ though." Well, I mean, this was the _early_ days of Hill Valley. It was still a small town. That image you get when the camera passes over the sign shows you pretty much _all_ of it. As the old saying goes, a small town is a place where a _barber_ who needs a _haircut_ has a _problem._ Yeah. Because in _all_ the town, there's only _one_ barber, _one_ bartender, _one_ general store owner, _one_ stable worker, _one_ tailor, _one_ accountant... etc. So it stands to reason there's only one _blacksmith,_ and sooner or later, in the last eight months, everyone in town has needed his _services,_ so everyone knows where his _shop_ is. Marty is _bound_ to find it if he just walks around the _town,_ which shouldn't take him more than 15 _minutes._

16:22 It's not a coincidence that the wheels of the car fit the railroad tracks so well. Reuse happens a great deal in technology. The people who made axles for covered wagons would also set the standard for the axle width of automobiles and the trains in the northern US that would become the standard nationally after the U.S. Civil War. There are even more things throughout time that match up. But one has to intentionally make a change. And when going from one thing to the next, sometimes a change doesn't work well. If you have the ruts from a wagon that formed a trail and then a car or truck tries to take the same path, if the width differed, it wouldn't be as easy to drive along it. But in general, people get used to the width of paths and axles, and unless there's a good reason to change, they don't. When the railroads formed, the U.S. South had a different spacing, but after losing the war, they relaid tracks. Germany attempted to create a massive rail-mounted gun, and it was so big that they needed extra tracks that weren't standard, which made it hard to bring their huge gun toward Russia. Standards keep things simple and compatible.

the trilogy was in effect 3 acts of a giant 5-6 hour movie as there are events in each movie that setup the next one and not just the major plot points, there are "easter egg" things in the background, as for this third installment, in the original timeline, Emmitt wasn't there to save Clara when her horses got spooked and she died going into the ravine so they altered the timeline by saving her and as far as 1885 goes they believed "Clint Eastwood" (Marty) died in the Train explosion so they named the ravine after him, for Jennifer she wasn't laying on her porch "all that time", when Marty returned to 1985 he returned to the morning after they left her on the porch in the alternate 1985, with Doc saying at one point in part 2 that the timeline altered around Jennifer, which frankly doesn't make sense because that was a branch timeline that ceased to exist when they destroyed the sports almanac.

great reactions. there are a ton of movies from the 80s considered classics and reacted to by a lot on here. Maybe you can try The Breakfast Club and its un-official sequel Saint Elmo's Fire.

15:14 _"Aw._ That's his _dog's_ name!" Copernicus? Well, yeah. Doc Brown named his dog after a famous polymath, Nicholas Copernicus, who lived from 1473 to 1543. In a world in which _every_ single person believed that every object in the Universe revolved around the _Earth,_ he made waves by being the first to propose that maybe the Earth revolved around the _Sun._ Doc Brown found this man a source of inspiration and named his _dog_ after him. But apparently, whoever it was who named this impact crater on the surface of the _Moon_ felt the same _way._

My favorite of the series. I'm a sucker for a western, especially when they poke fun at the genre. For more 80's time travel hijinks, check out Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure. It's most triumphant.

Fun Fact: In the 1800s there were no quality standards, products labeled whiskey or bourbon were actually distilled with a variety of low-grade ingredients and additives such as burnt sugar, glycerin & sulphuric acid.(Aka: Cheap liquor.) That's probably why Marty's whiskey smoked when it spilled over on the counter at the Saloon. 🥃☠️🤔

5:51 So, so far in this franchise, we've seen what a home-cooked meal looked like in 1985 and in _1955._ In part 2, we saw a guess at what a home-cooked meal would look like in 2015. Now they're showing us what a home-cooked meal looked like in _1885._ Romantic, isn't it?

I doubt it would've been a thing in 1885 (I'm not a trainologist) but the rope would be the same as you find on city buses and passenger trains today - you use it to request an immediate stop. It's primarily meant for emergencies or late at night when you're the only rider and the driver is just cruising past empty stops, but when I was in college people would pull it whenever they wanted to get off in the middle of a route.

24:29 -- "She's going to the future after all! It's about time!" You are very right, Addie. It is about time. That's what these three movies are about: TIME. :: 🥁Ba dum tss! :: 😂😂😂

They left Jennifer in 1985 Alternate which turned back to 1985 Lone Pine after he burned the Almanac. In fact Marty leaves the the OG timeline and comes back to the Lone Pine Timeline at the end of the first movie.

Moin aus Hamburg or greetings from Hamburg (Germany). I don't know how many times I've seen the trilogy, but it's always nice. I hope there won't be a fourth part that has been talked about for years. The story is told to the end.

Now you should watch the "Reunited Apart" charity reunion from last year, here on KZbin. And then play or watch the "Back to The Future: The Game" By TellTale Games. They are known for their 3D animation, and doing big projects like this and "Ghostbusters: The Game" which seemed like Ghostbusters 3, with all the original actors and likenesses, as well as about 6 hours of dialogue. If you like Monkey Island, you'll love TellTale Games, basically mini movies with, choose you own path type stuff. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this movie. :) The Clara part of this story was also very similar to a episode of the 1960's Star Trek, episodes where they go back in time and have to let a woman die, whom the doctor saved. There was also a animated series about Doc's kids, and a "Back To The Future: The Ride" mini story.

15:14 Not quite. The dog's name is Copernicus. 29:39 True enough. I guess that's why they made an animated series in the 90s. And a series of Telltale games. And a series of comics.

Yes, Jennifer was on the swing the entire time, but you have to realize that while Marty was in the past for several days, the time machine brought him back to the next morning of when they dropped Jennifer off at her house. So for her, it was only a few hours, and as soon as he destroyed the sports almanac, 1985 would have changed back to its original, non-violent version. BTW, one of the first movies that the actress who played Clara, Mary Steenburgen, was in, was a time travel movie called Time After Time. It's pretty good, you should watch it.

This one is so much better than the second one to me. It seemed to have more of the charm of the first one while not being as dark as the second. BTW, I watched a brand new Hallmark Christmas movie the other night that had both Christopher Lloyd (Doc) and Lea Thompson (Marty's mom). So crazy to see them in a film 31 years after this one.

The entire trilogy is great, but it's on different levels of great. The first one is a perfect movie entirely. The next two had to evolve from something that wasn't even considered, and it's still pretty great. I just found you because of these reactions, and I see you have a few others that are popular... I'm curious, is there a possible video/conversation/place to see you chatting about what your film gaps are?

What blows your mind is that in 1955 there were 4 Deloreans and 3 of Marty by the end.
