his defeat was extremely satisfying. not only does he get everything he deserves, but everything Marty attacks him with reflects the previous 2 movies; he admires Clint Eastwood using this move while watching the movie in his hot tub (unknowingly praising the move his enemy would use on him later) he falls in the manure (just like the first 2 movies) and penultimately, Marty sucker-punches him out *just like George Mcfly* did in the original. it was wonderful. they could not have done his defeat better. the highlights were that he lost to an unarmed man *AFTER* shooting him, breaking his head in on a tombstone that ironically states "HERE LIES," and then getting arrested and humiliated rather than dying in a shootout the way he'd probably want to go out.

he was a notorious outlaw for a reason (he was a deadeye with a gun and not to be trifled with, and successfully committed many crimes including robbing the pine city stage before wandering over to Hill Valley, mostly thanks to his quickdraw skills and deadly aim.) I think Marshal Strickland had the skills to match him, wanted him dead, and was planning to make a move on him, but just couldn't catch him at the right time; he camped outside the town, kept backshooters with him at all times, and was always hanging out in crowded areas with too many unarmed civilians that could get injured in a crossfire. Thankfully Marty beat him and they could bring him to justice alive rather than dead =D
