Man this was such a fun time, the card pool was much more limited but the format was quite interactive and cards like cabal therapy were super skill-intensive. I'd love to see some 2013 Grixis Delver, Miracles, Shardless BUG, BUG Delver and ANT. 😊

Iirc it was kinda created to grind out shardless bug with p-fires (though in retrospect brainstorm, ancestral, strix and jace are just superior). Looking forward to the matches!

Just stop to think for a moment and realize that Serra Avenger was played in decks. In Legacy no less. At this point, I’d argue they could print it without the drawback and I doubt it would even see much Modern play.

At 17:39, if Mengu activate Liliana first and bounce with Jace afterwards, I think Mengu would have won this game(and match). I think give opponent less option while discarding should be the correct play, and also not cracking land for cards also gives away a card cost mana 4 or more.

Great decks with great pilots. I wonder how these would fare against present-day Modern - probably not too well? White weenie has Karakas and Wasteland, I guess, but modern D&T must have the edge with all the playables it's gained over the years. Meanwhile, I don't think the landstill deck has any clear parallel in present-day Modern, and it'd be interesting to see it go up against e.g. Jeskai energy.

Hey Andrea, I hope this isn't a strange question, but have you ever heard of Canadian Highlander? It's my favorite format. 100 card Singleton where the philosophy is you can play any card you want but not ALL the cards you want by the utilizing a points system rather than a ban list
