The best footy was played in the 90s, before that it was underskilled, now its overumpired. The 90s was quick paced hard nosed footy.

Wouldn't surprise me if less time to prepare for goal had a positive effect on goal accuracy a) players wouldn't over think things b) the more time you take the more pressure can build up, the crowd can get louder, you can get in your head more This is why a lot of players seem to be better at snap shots, because the pressure and expectation isn't there. Maybe there could be an allowance of extra time if you can see that the forward is really tired, give them an extra 5 to regain compusre, but in other situations don't.

Love skeeter, and agree (American politics I'd probably say though). I suspect he has a wife who hates Trump that he kind of wants to stay in the good books with, but that of course I don't know that for sure

@@catmcallister3840 Will likes Trump, does that imply that he is not a decent person? I'm not saying that I know why Sketter doesn't like Trump, but regardless I do like Skeeter and that's all good. Like a few people on here I feel like Skeeter probably lacks a bit of knowledge, not saying in any way that he's stupid either, just sometimes you do not know certain things

In relation to the Osama umpire issue (and the GWS one for that matter), the problem with censorship and punishment for "offensive" stuff is: who determines what is and is not offensive and therefore acceptable or not? Aside from crimes established by existing laws in relation to hate speech, abuse, and violence, the notion of banning "offensive" dress-ups and behaviour is absolute nonsense - a pandora's box for whingers. It's an absolutely ridiculous situation.

The 70s and 80s were allegedly "low skill" because they were all part-timers, who trained for just 2 evenings per week. It had very little to do with the rules.

Alternative to giving a free kick for 6-6-6. What if the offending team's ruck can't compete but you still have the bounce? Not as advantageous as a free kick, but still a penalty.

Opposition ruck then acts as a 4th ground level mid, covers wherever the ruck tap goes (rucks aren't intelligent enough to take clean possession from a centre ruck) and in essence this becomes a major disadvantage to the team that supposedly has a clear run at the ruck.

Fear of India going home isn't why CA hasn't confronted India over ball tampering. It's just that CA know, that if the issue resurfaces, everyone will bring up sandpaper, Bancroft, Warner, Smith etc etc, and CA don't want that revisited or remembered.

Celebrities and politics. Before my time but what about the "Its Time" campaign in 1972 to get Whitlam in as PM. That was all about actors and singers. Look up the political commercial which shows actors and singers in a group (choir like) singing the Its Time anthem. Anyway enough... But imagine if our footballers started telling people how to vote and preaching to them. Oh I forgot about Adam Goodes.

Re Goal kicking time clock, why not just blow time off? The current skill set of the footballers is pretty piss poor, the kicking is horrendous, they can’t handball any further than 10 metres, and kicking for goal is like they are trying to land a space craft on the moon…. Give them as much time as they need, just stop the game clock. The clubs use to recruit footballers, now they recruit athletes…….
