Why not have it so that every team plays each other once over the first 18 rounds. Then release the remaining fixture featuring double up matches at round 15 or so based on the ladder at that point in time. It could still be based on the current system inclusive of derbies/showdowns, bottom, middle and top thirds of the ladder. There will always be teams that jump up or down the ladder substansially year to year and this would go a long way to alleviating the fairness of the fixture at least in regards to the double ups.

I like it. What about a two week bye for all teams after 18 rounds to get the fixture done and released with no byes mid season or pre finals. Could also move the midseason draft and the opening of the AFLW season to then too

Wanna talk embarrassing Explain to me how Hawthorn coming off bottom 3 in 2023 receive a TOP 5 ranked Difficulty fixture coming into 2024. That was their internal punishment for the racism saga .... And then Hawks play and win a final just to give a massive fuck you to the AFL.

Brisbane Premiers, GWS placed 4th on the ladder, Fremantle a flag favourite in betting markets, Carlton who managed to disappoint finishing 8th all in the first 6 rounds and West Coast 18th & 16th consecutive seasons. Opening round in Queensland and NSW, Dreamtime at the MCG, gather round in mainly Adelaide, Anzac at the MCG and North Melbourne's deal for multiple annual fixtures in Tasmania. Notice one state that always gets deliberately overlooked?

Now that they've put the main season together, they need to sort out pre season. Instead of boring practice matches with nothing on the line, either do something with it, resurrect a trophy to play for or scrap the thing all together. Do what the NRL are doing with their Pre Season Challenge.

It’s not hard to fix the fixture issue. Every team can easily play each other twice. We just need to extend the season. Ice hockey players in North America play over 80 games a season (not including playoffs). Yes, the games are shorter than footy matches, but they are playing four times as many games. If you include playoffs, then NHL players are playing five times as many games as footy players. And ice hockey players are getting just as banged up as anyone in the AFL. If they can manage it, then so should footballers. If the extra running is a factor, then just extend the squad size. Even soccer players in Europe often play two or three games a week. There’s no excuse for AFL teams not playing each other twice.

37:11 Exactly! They gave Warner his farewell tour that he didn't deserve, and then played favourites by promoting Smith up the order. Bancroft was one of the best 2 opening batsmen in Australia at that time. He should have come into the team then! The fact that someone who admittedly doesn't follow cricket much can see that was a massive error proves how fucked the Australian set up is. There's a purple circle, and Bancroft is not in it.

Let’s be honest ! The fixtures are a mess. It is never going to be fair unless you either play each other twice or you have 2 co deferences. And no Victorian club wants it changed because they never have to travel much.

The Eagles shouldn’t have to pay to get extra home games considering our travel factor, but good on the club for taking the initiative to buy them, ourselves. But why be so bloody stupid to play it in BUNBURY?? The whole point of getting an extra home game for our club is to reduce the travel for the team and give us more of a home crowd advantage. Playing the match in Bunbury means that the players still have to sit on a bus for 3 hours. This travel distance means that most of the Eagles season ticket holders won’t attend. And even if we were willing to attend, Bunbury doesn’t have a stadium anywhere near big enough to house us. You can reward your regional fans by giving them pre-season games, not fixtures matches. The Eagles are a Perth-based team, so play your games in Perth. Bunbury has 80,000; Perth had 2,000,000. Who should be the priority? We’ve paid all this money to replace one travel factor with another and replace a small away crowd with a small home crowd. Really smart, Eagles. 👎🏼👎🏼

Hawks were unlucky to miss the top 2 skeeter not lucky to make top 6. At Hawthorn making finals isn't classed as success so we're not coming off the back of anything, this aint freo Kamala Biden. Add Barrass, Battle, Will Day, Frost, Mitch Lewis, Jiath this will be a home final double chance Hawthorn.

Skeeter talking complete rubbish, Hawthorn had a top 5 ranked hardest fixture in 2024 factually. And inadvertently from a racism saga that they couldn't prove or beat the lawyers in court over. Hawthorn have a much better chance to compete this year because most of the prime time is Melbourne based games, which is obviously where Hawks play best on the MCG. Not Tassie which skeeter deluded himself into believing it was corrupt when it gave freo a better chance to win than if it were in melb! Cool off Kamala! You lost! Accept defeat. #FlagHok.
