Super helpful info as I consider investing in an XCD setup

Very interesting. I've been looking at many youtube video's in order to get knowledge exactly about this topic. I come from alpine skiing and only just started cross country/background/descending. I could not figure out for the live of me, why I was unable to turn on the 210 cm 55 mm nordic ski's. Your conversation explains a LOT. Also.... I have no, or very little grip on those long skinny ski's. I now figure they are too stiff for my weight. My weight is at the breaking point between 2 sizes. Now I don't know if I should go with the larger size (better slide) or the smaller size (better grip). Hmmm, something to think about. Thank you for your thoughts and explanations.

Glad we could help. Typically in more technical or challenging terrain if you're between sizes we would recommend sizing down. The difference in glide will be minimal, but you will definitely notice the difference in grip and maneuverability.

@@catamounttrailvt thanks for the insight, I was leaning toward that because now (on my test_dead_cheap_eBay_ski's) it is a challenge to get uphill. When the borders Cnd-USA are open again I hope to be in the opportunity to explore sections of the Catamount trail; it's approx 8 hr drive from NewBrunswick.

Ladies and gentlemen, as Madshus is a norwegian manufacturer the brandname is pronounced "Mads hus" with the "hus" meaning "house" and itself pronounced "hüs" - unfortunately a letter non-existing in english.
