Awesome setup, and definitely makes for great footage in your videos. I use a Insta360 One R for my bike based camera, with the Hero8 and the audio mod on my helmet. I'm also on the waitlist for the Skydio, hopefully that things actually performs as well as everyone claims.

Gread video. I Just got the skydio 2 drone to add to the mix. My question is how you charge the drone when on the road and off the grid. I am worried that the AT may not be able to handle the drone batteries in addition to aux lights, grips, heated jacket particularly when running at lower rpm offroad.

I usually charge the batteries in my tank bag as I ride. I don’t seem to have any issues. I also carry a aux battery pack that I can use to charge batteries while at camp. Seems to work pretty well. Still waiting for the skydio 2 to ship. COVID has really delayed the production

That WD SSD would be useful. I will keep my eye out for a good price on one. The M50 is a great little cam. I like it best for the small size. I also picked up a few of the new GoPro Batteries with the blue on it and noticed they seem to last a lot longer than the old ones. Thanks for another great vid.

I've found that you can run the GoPro off external power. Put a GoPro battery in the GoPro and then also attach the GoPro to a usb battery bank or the bike. Then it will run for however long your battery bank lasts (and your SD card).

Great studio and Chantal also 👍. Can you say more about your tire experience? During the studio presentation, I saw an interesting tire on your motorcycle. What is this tire? I ride the CRF1000L Adventure Sports and have already tried several tires such as the TKC80, Michelin Wild, Pirelli scorpion str., Mitas E-07 ... Do you have any experience with the Mitas E-10 or E-12? Can you compare them to the TKC80 - in my driving style, the TKC80 has the highest ratings so far.

My questions relate more to filming while on the trail: How often do you tend to start & stop each camera during a ride? Do you use remote controls to do so, or physically turn them on & off from the cameras themselves? Also, with your camera placement, can you reach each one without dismounting the bike? Thanks, and keep up the great videos!
@backcountryadvmoto
@backcountryadvmoto 4 жыл бұрын
Stoney I do not let the cameras run all the time. I try and take short clips of things of interest. As far as being able to turn them on and off. I don’t use the remote because it turns out that it is really finicky, but I I am able to turn them all on while on the bike

@@backcountryadvmoto Thanks - I like the fact that you can at least stay on the bike while manipulating the cameras. I'm finding that I'm either focusing on enjoying the ride, or filming the ride. The photographer in me tends to block out everything else when I'm looking for the right shot...

Great vid Kyle, and congratulations on 10k man! Two quick questions: it wasn’t immediately obvious on WD’s website, but do you happen to know the wireless data transfer rate specs? Also, just curious: what does the first tripod give you that the gorilla pod does not?

Great video, love your overall setup. So what do you use to keep it all charged while on longer trips? Do you have a solar setup or run power from the bike to power cells, etc? Did you need to add power connections to the AT?

I’m actually using the GoPro 10 and 11 now, but they are virtually the same as far as settings go. I shoot in 4K 30 frames per second and generally just run go pro color as the color profile. All the other little changes I make in post production during the editing process.

Where do you store all this things? Giant loop diablo is just to small to store all of this. I think about giant loop fandango to store my drone, remote and mirrorles camera with one lens. Btw, really nice video. So much effort to provide nice content. Thank you!

I store my GoPros and batteries in my tank bag and really anything that I grab quickly in my tank bad. My drone, hard drive and things I don’t use as much goes in my tail bag. This keeps them protected so when the bike goes down that never get touched or crushed.

I just used my GoPro 7 2 weeks ago with the chest mount deal when doing a little scouting around Lake Tahoe . Wasn't sure how the built in mic would catch my voice or how much wind noise it would have . I was surprised later on both fronts , I could hear the DR650's motor a little bit of wind but my voice came through pretty good . It's an okay angle but I was wondering how you mount the camera on your Krios Pro . I have the same Klim helmet but I don't really want to put any 3M tape or the like on it , so that is question # 1 . #2 is how can I get my GoPro 7 to record more than 8 minutes and 52 seconds before it automatically stops . It seemed like it would record that much and stop then start recording again and that cycle would keep repeating over again , strange . Also not a big fan of GoPro wanting access to all my files , finally found a go around and was able to see my video chunks on my phone . Being a newer offroad rider I did find the limit of my ability and the motorcycle's ability ( as it is set up ) . When the trail came to a Y I wasn't sure if I should go to the left or the right . I chose poorly .... , I knew fairly quickly that the right side was far more steep a rutty . Staying in 1st gear the whole time and fishtailing out of cobble madness I went over a little bunny hill and looked ahead and my heart sunk . I tried the best line I could but it was way too steep and cobble strewn or ultra fine powder that I got about 30' from the crest until I lost control and took a spill . Hilarious on video but not so hilarious walking that bike back down that crazy section of trail in 85 degrees with my Badlands Pro pants and jacket roost guard Klim padded base layer etc . Going to order the Baja 4 jacket and maybe I can not sweat a gallon an hour , haha . I got to the bottom and recouped and did a bike check , nothing major just a bit of melted plastic near the exhaust . I then proceeded to the left of the fork . It was easier but it too started getting steep but I stayed up and worked out of a nasty rut and made it a couple hundred yards and stopped a a little look out point . Up ahead was a squirrelly S turn that was steeper than what I just did so I decided to walk it and assess my options . Got to the top of that part called it a day , for that section anyway . Didn't want to have to drop my bike every few hundred yards possibly and stall fifty times all the while sweating to death . If I had a TW200 phff no worries or a decent quad I could have conquered that stuff . I will return with better tires summer gear and some better skills also and the DR650 will hopefully get me past the gnarly stuff . Anyway can't wait to do that and more as soon as possible !

I have the GoPro mounted on the chin bar and as long as I’m not at highway speed the built in microphone actually does a really good job. Another option is the go pro media mod and run a small microphone inside your helmet

@@backcountryadvmoto Got it, but how about capturing the conversation off your Cardo Communicators? On my vids, you hear me, but not my riding buddy. It makes for a weird audio and it would be better if the conversation could be captured. Any idea how to do that?

I have never seen you put out a bad video, you passed over the memory cards a little, how many hours can a 128 gig record, how many hours can a 64 gig card record, I am just getting started recording and using the cards I have any info on that would be appreciated. (go pro 6)
@backcountryadvmoto
@backcountryadvmoto 4 жыл бұрын
Anomie the time available on a card depends on the setting used. Using 4K vs 1080 will yield less record time. Also using a higher frame rate will reduce record times. I shoot most of my videos in 1080 30fps with GoPro color on.
