Thank you for the video and the replies to the comments. I am going to attempt this mod on my board. I order all the parts. I didn’t, however, get that you needed 2 chargers from the video. Glad I read the comments. I just went and ordered an additional charger.

I plan on doing this to my board, however I was just wondering why you only drilled until you saw red? is it for structural integrity? Or is it just so you dont pierce the grip tape? When I do mine instead of using the threads like you did, I want to use some nuts and bolts that will go right through the top of the board. and when it comes to charging, since its set up as a series I should keep the batteries at the same charge at all times and charge them at the same time or disconnect the battery connector before charging one at a time, otherwise I could risk an explosive fireball of death, right?

if you're drilling through then don't worry about the red- that's just to stop before the grip tape. for charing, I keep the batteries connected but charge them both at the same time to full using two separate chargers-- what is important is that you plug both chargers in at the same time and you keep them both plugged in until both batteries are charged to full. Do not unplug either charger until they are both full. You should only charge one at a time when they are physically disconnected from each other, and don't plug one discharged battery into the battery that is charged== very dangerous.

Question, if I unplug them from eachother. Charge one to full & the other to half. Can I plug them back together without problems? Or do they have to both be fully charged to be plugged together?

No!!!! do not plug two unequally charged batteries into each other - they could explode due to rush of current from one to the other !

Does the top speed and acceleration increase? Or is it the same? Can I plug both in at the same time, or right after one another even if they are different charges? Do I have to leave it till both are fully charged or can I unplug them early even if they not fully charged at the same time? Both batteries need to be identical in voltage and energy or can it be different? As in can I add the g3 battery with my g2 battery? Great video, and thanks in advance!

Do i have to remove the batteries from the enclosure to charge them or can i just leave them in and charge the 2 batteries like how you charge the board normally. This will be my first diy project and don't wanna die from some battery explosion

I just leave them on the board and charge them both at the same time to full charge- the main thing is that you keep the chargers plugged into the batteries when you charge them and do not pull the chargers until both are charged fully. Leaving the chargers plugged into the batteries keeps the esc disabled so the imbalance between the batteries has no effect. That is why you always keep both chargers plugged in until both are full charge. Even if one charges faster than the other, do not unplug it. If you only have one charger then you disconnect one battery from the other first then charge then both one at a time to full charge. Only reconnect when both are full charged. If you need to ride with one half charged and the other fully charged then use only one battery and then switch to the other battery after depletion.

@@pjhudsonjr what if you have 2 chargers and the other charger supposedly charges faster than the other? can you still plug both chargers to both batteries and let it charge till full then I can turn the esc on? or since one is faster than the other, i would be able to charge them both at the same time connected?

They must both be fully charged--- DO NOT, I repeat-- DO NOT let them be unbalanced in charge at any time... this includes when you charge or discharge-- if they are connected to each other they will discharge together equally, this is safe. If there is every an inequality in charge and one is unplugged, this can lead to explosions, fire, and death.

Also, you cannot use different batteries, they have to be the same WH or you will burn your house down or cause third degree burns on yourself.

Too bad Backfire didn’t make the battery compartment ‘clip in’ like my screw gun. This way you could just slide the used one out and a charged one in. Maybe someone will make a mod for this.

Couple questions How much more miles / range did you get after you added the extra battery? When you charge do you plug in just one battery and it charges both?

The range is double- could be anywhere from 20 to 30 miles depending on how you ride. For charging, you need to charge them separately with you chargers plugged into each and at the same time... Do not unplug one charger while the other is still charging- they both have to be fully charged before you unplug the chargers - also you need to plug the chargers in at there same time, or one right after the other. The only way you can charge one at a time is by disconnecting the batteries from each other (the xt60) and then you can charge then separately at different times but never, never connect both batteries together if they are not both fully charged - I encourage you to read up on L ion batteries and the dangerous situations in charging and connecting in parallel
