Best review of the Zealot on KZbin. Man's coming in with straight facts, and err, opinions. Always great to hear your perspective. I'm amazed that you haven't bottomed out on speed bumps, i think the insta 360 exaggerates the flex of the board a bit. Its that fisheye effect. Still, you're ride footage is great with that camera. The deck is the only thing concerning me atm. I'm not in the habit of slowing down for speed humps and where I live they're on every street and every 50 meters (160 feet)! I wonder, have you ridden a G3 plus? I love that deck, I think it's near perfect but I'd love to hear what you think about it. Great video and editing. Please keep them coming.

Allen Wan I noticed how the flex looked. The camera has a fish eye effect. The deck is not as low at it looks. Some shots you can see it’s straight and others it looks bent. Another nice review! I had the same issue with my lock screws backing out and did the same thing with the Loctite. I also switched the front bushings to double barrel Venom HPF 87a. I find it gives me a much more uniform carving experience.

@@MrPhillipsTheChangeAgent Thinking about purchasing the Zealot. It is a bit confusing though, depending on which website you look at it, either backfires Global or USA site. The USA side explains how they swapped out the bamboo composite deck for a straight composite deck after September 2020. The global site does not mention this whatsoever. But on some informational slides they had for the Zealot on the global site, it still shows the regular Zealot as coming with a bamboo composite deck, and the Zealot S being the one that comes with a ABS composite deck. So I'm rather confused to be honest. Probably worth calling about? I'm honestly just hesitant since I weigh about 230 lb what deck is going to be better for me. I'm all for a stiffer deck since my weight will probably make it bounce and flex more than it would if it had a lighter 150-pound person on it. You mentioned that before in a previous review. The newer composite deck that replaces the bamboo composite deck is supposed to be stiffer they say. But that's fine with me. After seeing your review on both the G3 and the Zealot, I'm confident that whether I end up with the bamboo deck or composite deck, that I will probably be fine. But I'm just looking for opinions here. My only decision now, and while they still have coupons that work on the global site, is which to buy? The G3 or the Zealot? Hmm. Both are $650 with the codes. With a code, and for $150 more ($800), I could go for the Zealot S which has the full battery capacity unlocked (the 311wh battery is actually the 346wh, just electronically capped) and more powerful Motors. And most certainly comes with an ABS composite deck. Decisions to be made, and money to be saved or spent I guess. XD I will add that cloud wheels just now is releasing a set of cloud wheels sleeves for the G3 Hub motors which you may be interested in. They also fit other hobbywing type Hub Motors. Also I don't know if you'll ever see this comment or not, but I thought I should mention that ALL of the backfire boards to my knowledge DO have a reverse function. It's the small little gray switch on the R3 remote specifically (for the boards that have those remotes). Thing is I don't know if the reverse function can be engaged while in forward motion or not though. You may have to be at a standstill, but I'm not sure. No one is talking about it. @@Stinerator As you can clearly see from his review here of the Zealot along with the G3, which has the same bamboo wood fiberglass deck, he does not bottom it out. Now of course you will obviously bottom it out if you stand right in the middle and bounce up and down on it lol. But from his review, along with his weight (225), I am now confident that I will not have any issues with the board either. I weigh around 230.

Liked and subbed - one of the best esk8 reviews I've seen. Excellently shot and edited, and you covered everything with no BS. I used to live in Atlanta so that was awesomely nostalgic seeing you ride around all the spots I know. I was super close to ordering the Zealot but ended up going with the Verreal RS for more range (432WH with the 30Q batteries vs 311WH on the Zealot) and better aesthetics (personal opinion), but as I wait for the order to ship, and I hear of possible issues on the forums, your comment about US-based Backfire support is giving me some food for thought.... I was also deciding between the Zealot and the Verreal RS and went with the RS based on having more room to add larger wheels for AT riding. I don't think you can go wrong, both boards seem like the best thing out in their price range for sure. The Zealot seems amazing and maybe whenever I go for another board in a year or two I'll get it or whatever the next evolution of it Backfire comes out with next.

100kg/225lb rider here and I will say the bottom of the battery enclosure most definitely scrapes the ground when carving hard, not just commuting as shown in this video. I stuck some aluminium strips to protect the plastic which incidentally makes it a few mm closer to the ground but atleast it's protected. No biggy though really this is just a skateboard and as such is going to get beat up in the course of having fun. My deck also cracked due to carving hard with the trucks too tight so don't make that mistake. And unless you're riding surface is smooth then get the ranger x2 which has air tyres. In saying all that, this thing rocks.

Altaires1111 appreciate it. Get the skateboard combo pack. As for now I don’t think they have mounts for the rear. You can mount them on top of the deck. I actually use sticky mounts and put on the back of my helmet. There is a scene where I ride by with the red lights on my helmet. Hope this helps. My roads will def NOT be smooth - little rocks, twigs, cracks, etc. Can these wheels handle it or do I need to get Cloudwheels? I think you made a solid choice. I would say try to ride board as is. If you need cloud wheels get a set. For lights get shred lights. One my back fire 3+ , i got 13 miles with one bar left commuting to work one way. I was riding yesterday at 18/19 mph straight . So yes I would agree real range is around 13/14 miles. I ride weight total 190lbs with gear.

I originally ordered the V3 for a number of reasons including max load (I weigh 225lbs), price, speed, range with ER option, torque, etc. A couple days after ordering it I watched your Flex video. I wanted another board to let my daughter or girlfriend ride with me. Exway seems to have a great reputation for quality, attention to detail and innovative technologies, with software updates. The Flex appears to offer value at the sub $700 price point which is just absent in most other brands within the same price range. Thanks again and you also ride safe bro! 🙏🏽

I wish I had the money for a G3 Plus. I had fun with my belt-driven board but I'm ready for something sleeker, quieter, and much easier to maintain so I don't have to worry about my motors as much. I'm also sick of having to avoid rocks so the board doesn't get scratched. My belt drive board was super quiet which I like, but that is not the norm for those kinds of boards and I don't want to bother everyone near me with the noise while I ride. Guess I'll have to go with the G3!

El Buhdai it’s not that loud but if you want a quieter ride you can use hub motors. Look at the Flex Hub as well in addition to the G3 when considering your purchase. I have discount codes in description of my videos. Save some money. 🤙🤙

Yes you can. Backfire is making cloud wheels for the board. The Zealot can fit wheels up to 105mm I believe. The board comes standard with 96mm which is pretty big already. Don't forget to subscribe.

Really appreciate your reviews as I am a bigger rider myself. I have a question for you. I have a G3 and I love the board don’t get me wrong but there’s only 1 issue I weigh about 250 lbs and out of the box I was getting roughly about 10 miles on full charge to about 10% but now I have about 160 miles on the board and I would say for about the past 60 miles or so I’ve seen a decline in the amount of range that I get I only get about 6-7 miles until 10% is that because of my weight? And also how many miles do you go before getting new wheels for a board? Also I never ride in turbo mode because that would give me even less range so the ranges I provided are strictly in sport mode. Hope you respond thanks for the help

Someone else said there range is degrading. Reach out to backfire. The front wheels on your board should last a while. The hub motor sleeves probably will need to be changed before the front wheels. Does the G3 come with extra sleeves for the rear tire? Even though your are a heavier guy you should be able to get the range you are accustomed to getting. Reach out to Backfire.

Being athletically built its hard to find things even bicycles especially during the pandemic. It depends on if they have US stock. If so you could have in a few days. With your weight and size I would recommend a little more powerful board. Like what I am riding in this video. It’s June 9, the day before I was supposedly supposed to get my board. Ordered over a month ago and still no tracking # or update, and all I got in response was “please kindly wait.” Well I did that and now my anticipation is turning to frustration. I’ve been hearing a lot of bad stories lately about shipping issues. Good question! Yes and no, you can put larger wheels on the Flex but that would cost extra money. But if you want to get a board and do not want to have to purchase wheels immediately to get the larger wheels you want, then it would make sense to go with the board that comes standard with the largest wheels which would be the Zealot.
