*The first Backfire eBoard, the G1 (Galaxy), was Belt drive, NOT hub drive.* For G2 (Galacy II) they switched to hub drive, G2 to G3 Plus, until the Zealot. Many people don't know this. Many budget boards were making belt drive around that time but hub drive soon became the standard for budget brands. 346Wh on Zealot but 10% locked out on the BMS/ESC so 311Wh - for longevity they say but many suspect it"s to hide the sag, which is more obvious with their belt drive.
@eSkateHub
@eSkateHub 3 жыл бұрын
I did not know that about the old belt drive eboards. Thanks for the info! This might be an unpopular opinion, but I would rather have a board with a slightly restricted battery capacity and not get any battery sag. Once you start getting sag, the board is pretty much unrideable (if that's even a word).

@@eSkateHub 100% agree cos it's annoying when that almost unusable last mile or 2 is included in the predicted range. You limp home lol Yeah Benchwheel, Yuneec, Acton (gen 1), the first budget brands all used Belt drive then the budget scene embraced hub drive. Backfire offer a less flexy deck option for the Zealot now. P.S another great video 🔥🔥

Hello, I really like your videos and you come across as a genuinely nice guy. I have some questions, I am thinking about buying the zealot or the exway flex. When looking at backfires webpage, I live in Europe, under accessories there is not much to find. Cannot even find spare belts. Is that not strange? What type of pulleys does the zealot come with and how many teeth? If I buy the zealot I am thinking of getting rubber wheels that use Kegel pulleys but of course need the right pulleys and belts. For me what speaks for the exway is smart turn on and shorter more nimble deck. The zealot has as far as I have heard more power, not bothered with range and that also equals weight. Thanks

I'm in the market for a new board since my old Meepo V 1.5 is starting to act weird. I can't decide between the Zealot at 650 $ or the Exway Flex at 620 $. Having ridden both, which would you go for? I personally like the look and design of the Flex but the power and range of the Zealot. Some people have also reported that the Flex has these battery security "features" that lock the breaks if the battery is overheating and therefore forces you to stop. In your Flex review, you mention the battery warnings and then you slowed down for a bit. Have you tried to continue pushing the limits of the board after the warning?
@eSkateHub
@eSkateHub 3 жыл бұрын
That's a few good years out of the Meepo V1.5! I had one of them too 😄 This is such a tough question because each person has a different riding style and requirements. But here are some things to think about. When it comes to power and performance, the Zealot beats the Flex, but it's only by a little. Does that extra power really matter? Coming from the Meepo V1.5, you're going to love either of these boards. The Zealot deck is longer than the Flex, so if you're a taller or heavier guy, you might want to lean towards the Zealot., however, coming from the V1.5, the Flex is still a bit longer. With the Flex, I like having the ability to customise your boards performance in the app and be able to change your wheels or motor type. There's a lot more flexibility with the Flex. As for the brakes locking on the Flex, I didn't get any of that. Towards the end of the ride, the power would cut and I'd slow down, but the brakes didn't lock up. I kept riding for about 1km (0.62 miles) after I ended my range test and didn't experience it. Once the battery gets too low, the board still has the ability to ride at a slow pace, but it's basically unrideable, especially up any inclines. Happens with a lot of eboards. I probably haven't made your decision easier haha. But this is a tough one that a lot of people are trying to decide on. Let me know what you eventually decide on. And if you have more questions, shoot them through.
@Xspeedzone
@Xspeedzone 3 жыл бұрын
@@eSkateHub Thank you so much for the elaborate answer, really appreciate it! I went down a rabbit hole today watching Flex reviews and also reported problems. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who report cases of BMS errors, remotes disconnecting and brakes locking while riding, throwing people off the board. I didn't find a lot of people reporting problems with backfire boards. I live in the EU and backfire offers service in Germany which is a huge plus. The Flex also requires you to pay for shipping whereas the Zealot is free shipping, which I really appreciate as a student. The backfire seems like the best value for now. Might check out an Exway board in the future. Keep up the great content and thanks for being engaged with your viewers!

Hey, I have a question about the brake. when you brake from a high speed range, how do you brake? from your brake test video, it looks like you are braking gradually from a high speed range. So, do you press the break button smooth and gently to brake gradually? or do you just press the break button at the "white break line" (from the video)? In latter case, I got thrown off from the board, so I still feel difficult and a bit afraid to using brakes when i m riding fast. Which makes me feel really difficult to use the brakes when I have to stop the board immediately. So in this case I usually just jump off from the board and the let the board go its way. How do you control the brake in situations like that? (im from nyc, so it is so stressful to see crazy cars and pedestrians just pop up and ignore all the traffic signs)
@eSkateHub
@eSkateHub 3 жыл бұрын
So, the way I do the tests is by applying the brakes to 100% at the white line. But that's definitely not how I brake in everyday riding. It's only for testing purposes. To get more comfortable with the braking, go out to a quiet area, and start riding at a really slow pace, like 5mph or less. Then slowly ease the brakes on until you come to a complete stop. Do that over and over again until you can start applying the brakes a bit faster. After you feel comfortable with that, increase your speed a little bit and apply the brakes gradually. The more you practice, the more confident you will become at using your brakes. It'll eventually be second nature. A key thing to remember is to always lean back on your rear foot when you brake. The harder you brake, the more you lean back. This counteracts the forward inertia that causes your body to go forward when braking. You'll have a lot more balance and confidence. I hope this helps. Let me know how you go. You've also given me a good idea for a video!

Does it hurt to push or should u only use it electronically with the remote
@eSkateHub
@eSkateHub 3 жыл бұрын
Because of the belts, it's not really recommended to kick push. If you do, there's quite a bit of resistance and it's not that easy.

Says 311 online because that is using 90% of the battery. (345*.9=310.5) like car batteries, it helps the overall lifetime of the battery to not charge to 100% and drain every single charge.

@jimajammer999
@jimajammer999 3 жыл бұрын
I have a meepo v3 ER and the composite deck zealot as well. There is no manual way to change the braking stiffness. From my understanding the braking changes depending on what mode you're in. So it won't be as hard in eco mode as it is in turbo mode. The braking is really smooth and predictable in my opinion especially at higher speeds. I'm usually rising in sport with turbo mode here and there. Hope this helps.

These Chinese company's are a joke with their QC an their "equivalent" battery's sure the specs look good but 2-3 months down the road all these cheap battery's develop issues the junk chargers don't help that either.
