Just spectacular those views when one leaves the forest behind!! Such a wonderful falls too. Sometimes those stairs can be harder to navigate then the rocks themselves...at least on one trail in my parts it sure seems that way. Hope your knee is keeping well and enjoy the week ahead.

Thanks Bruce, the knee felt good that weekend! Going up was never an issue but descending had been difficult for awhile. Seems like my leg strength has returned because I felt good on this one as well as the next!

So you get out often and on some really nice trails! That cascading water falls along the trail is pretty wicked! Good to see some hustle and running too, lol. The whites are absolutely stunning!

Yeah I can see that trail being no fun to descend in wetter conditions.

Beautiful trail. Love those wooden steps. I want to learn overnighting in the mountains… you make it look so easy but I know it’s not lol!

Like anything it just takes some practice - start at established campsites and go from there. I think I like this idea of setting up camp down low and then not hauling a big pack up the trail (would have been a very difficult experience). And this was a tricky camp to set up. The forest protection extends about 1/2 mile in from the road. After that you can camp off trail. But the steep stuff began almost immediately after the sign so it was some effort to find a spot that worked. I had a bit of a slanty setup but I made do.

@@RhodySeth Yeah, slack packing it up on some trails and in some conditions especially would be such a relief, especially if you’re carrying overnight gear. My novice eyes didn’t notice any problems with the terrain, you made it look just right. Learning where its ok to camp and how to set up, especially if it’s a tarp and hammock setup takes some major practice I’ve heard. Is hammock much more comfortable than tent for you?
@RhodySeth
@RhodySeth 3 ай бұрын
@@AmandaDouin yes much more comfortable. I always would have a sore back in the morning after sleeping in a tent. I sleep much better in the hammock (though it took a couple years to really dial it in).

Stunning 360 views up there! Moose is probably my next NH48! Good timing on the rain, but sucks about the headache! Bad nights out there are no fun...I see the little hover drone got some use!
@RhodySeth
@RhodySeth 3 ай бұрын
Yeah I think I spaced on electrolytes which I had been using in my water to good affect. Got sloppy. Yes, this was the one time I flew my Hover X1 that weekend and it worked great. For the rest of the hikes the threat of rain or lack of legal spots kept it in the car. But it works great for capturing the steepness of these trails that you don't normally see.

It took me a moment to realize you must be employing the self-flying follow behind you drone in this one? It does produce some very natural looking shots. My only Beaver Brook trip got turned into another Carriage Road trip due to rain, and I can see that that was the right choice. What a rad trail, but nasty looking if wet indeed.
@RhodySeth

Yes I picked the right day for that trail - I've heard horror stories about it in bad weather so I was happy to have a good day. And you're right about the new drone - it worked just as I hoped. Really helps give a good perspective to those trails!

Not quite 100% but pretty close. Knee felt good on the trip but it wasn’t so happy after a six hour drive home. Those shots were actually from my Hover X1 drone. You hand launch and it follows you! kzbin.info/www/bejne/pXTLYZmGedWZqc0si=5YQugaKqJMAIE10I

Great hike / run Seth some amazing views from up high (is the lack of forest up high natural? Or cleared by people? Mind 4800 + is high 🏔️)nice brew and a meal down at the base 👌🏻 Thanks for sharing man 🙏🏼 ATB Simon 🤠👍🏔️

In the White Mountains, the alpine zone begins around 4500 feet so most of those bare summits are in fact natural. There are also some that have had fires at the summits which resulted in bare peaks. Some of those are still bare and some have been reforested.
