Nice trip. I noticed your backpack was looking a bit bigger than usual. It was still pretty light for its 75L size. I had that same pack several years back. I think it is pronounced Apple A Shun. LOL. I wonder how many hiked past your camp with the trail right there. Awesome views from the high point. Great trail magic. So fun. We left a couple of bucks in some kid shoes while in Big Bend NP. The kids were swimming in the Rio Grande and had their shoes unattended on the bank by the trail. Paying forward the trail magic! Great trip. Have a wonderful day.

Yeah,I was hovering around 30lbs. but it felt more like 50! My shoulder now pops in and out so any weight at all seems really heavy. It's Appa-latchun! Lol. The trail magic really surprised us as that section of the NRA is rarely travelled and we didn't see anyone at all the entire trip. Thanks Steve,have a great week ahead my friend!

Evening Jim , this was really lovely to hear the running water from the creek, looked really peaceful here through the trees and I loved the quiet campsite and fire. You had amazing views at the top, your GoPro did do it justice, spectacular views all around 🙂👍~ Anna

Hi Anna,yes we certainly didn't have a shortage of water on this one,lol. We had a very nice and peaceful campsite and we did get to enjoy a great view from up top even though it was a very hard climb. Thank you so much for being a loyal follower of me! Have a great week Anna!

That was a great trail! I like the fact that people come around and give you money🤑💰 24 creek crossings, that's a heck of a lot! You certainly get some beautiful views up there😀 I hope you're having a great weekend! I'm rained in today, so I'll look forward to next weekend😁

Yeah it would be awesome if folks left money on every hike,lol! The view was well worth the climb to get to it. I'm also rained in today. I hope you are able to get out soon. Thanks my friend!

Oh my GOSH, a 45 lb hammock tent? 🤣 I do love my Ozark Trail tent. It has never failed me. I had it at Trail Days this year. It is Appa-lay-shun. 😆😜 Nice fire. Beautiful views after that hard climb! Wow, that is extremely kind Trail Magic! 😇 I've never seen that before! Great video! 😁💚👊

We did find out the hammock tent weighs 8 pounds,which is way too much for me to carry! The view was well worth the lung buster to get to it. That trail magic really blew our minds! I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on the way to say Appa-latch-un,LOL!!!! Thanks as always Ice Bear! Have a great week.

Not so sure about the "no pain, no gain"...lol Don't you just love the sound of a running river, a cracking fire...and here, crashing waves! "Dry as a bone"...I've got to look that saying up, as I am thinking it may have it's origins in the scriptures. Some say yes, some say no...just like everything it seems. lol Just interesting to learn where some of these idioms have their origins. A great couple of days...and I'll take that kind of trail magic any day!! Have yourself a wonderful week, Jim!
@JimHayesHiking7 ай бұрын
I have pain on every hike so I guess I might as well just say it,lol! Dry bone is a southern thing but it also could be from the book of Ezekiel as well as alot of southern phrases are from the good book.Finding that money blew our minds! Thanks Bruce!

Whew, that was a lot of creek crossings! Sounds like you could pretty well keep your feet dry! Great to check off more trail miles of the Mt R NRA!! Great views and a pretty trail. How did Delmar like his set-up? So far I like to be in a tent in the ground, lol. 😆 Wow, trail magic!! 💵💵

Well,I got very wet feet on day two,lol! Delmar liked the tent but it's just alot to carry on a backpacking trip. I'll always be a tent guy I suppose. That money left on my pack was truly wild! Thanks a bunch as always Jen! Hope you have a great week!

Phew, 28 pounds would feel heavy. I've (Rachel) been about 35 pounds before and I about died. 😂 Now we try to stay under 25 pounds. We have a much better time that way. Wow, 24 stream crossings. Crazy. That hammock tent looked cool. Your tent looked awesome, too. Dry as a bone! Great! 😊 Love the fire at camp. So peaceful. 🔥 Love the views from the top on day 2! Beautiful! ❤ Trail magic money! That's awesome! 🤑
@JimHayesHiking7 ай бұрын
Yeah,I normally carry about 20 lbs.but this time I took my heavier sleeping bag plus this tent was about a pound heavier than my other one. It did feel like about 35-40 pounds though,lol. Delmars' hammock Tent weighs 8 pounds which is way too heavy for backpacking so I don't think he'll be doing that again anytime soon. Yeah I got a tad wet about half way through all those stream crossings. The view from the overlook is pretty nice. The money left on my pack blew our minds! Never had anything like that happen before. Thanks again for your kind comments and your support!

I’m glad you’re knocking out the trails you haven’t done yet in Mt. Roger’s National Forest. Getting closer to your goal with every one! It’s beautiful up there. Now that I’m almost completely recovered from my ordeal I have hopes for another meet up with you and Delmar if you wouldn’t mind. How did Delmar like the hammock? I love mine. It’s a different brand and set up but it’s much more comfortable for me than sleeping on the ground. I’m going to go back and get caught up on all the videos I missed this past 6 months or so. Take care my friend.

Actually the Haven hammock tent is "only" about "8" pounds, (Kinda like old school canvas tent packing)... LOL because I have one and I may be selling it because my solo camping days are pretty much at an end.. Day two looked like it was a heart pumper.. to get to that view point.
@JimHayesHiking7 ай бұрын
Lol,yeah but to me it would have felt like 45 lbs. Delmar can still lug around quite a bit of weight and he's usually carrying twice what I am. Yeah the climb up to the overlook is pretty steep. Thanks Max! Have a great week ahead my friend.

45 pounds seems a little hefty for a hike but it sure looked comfortable. I liked your Appalachian pronunciation lesson. 😅 What a view from the top, wow! Good one. Jim. 👌👍
@JimHayesHiking7 ай бұрын
Well,that was me being sarcastic but it does weigh 8 pounds which is very heavy for backpacking. Yeah it's an age old battle of the pronunciation game,lol! The steep climb was well worth it for the view. Thanks Daryl!
