Oh how I wish I could go back to Alaska. I was there in September 2017, mosquitos & flies were gone!!! Being from the desert, it was beyond BEAUTIFUL to see all the different colored leaves, the mountains that look so majestic and regal!!! I had never seen so much water in my life, or all the different colors of water!!! I still wish I could have been able to go fishing and go to the Native Museums and learn more about the Native Alaskans. Thank you so much for sharing the Beauty that I didn't get to see.

I love the start 'dogs are free, so Kona's coming with us'. I'm so sure you guys would have paid anyway ❤ Bless her for throwing up though - much like me, not good with my sea legs! I watched another vlogger a couple of months back who took her dog over to Norway on the ferry and hadn't realised she needed to give him a tablet of some sort. On their arrival, they were told they'd usually have 3 options - go back on the ferry to Denmark (but this wasn't an option for them as there was no return sailing) spend a crazy amount of money to get the tablet and have him housed at a kennels for 24 hours whilst it was digested... or the 3rd option if she couldn't afford it was 'the unspeakable'! Naturally they prioritised their budget for the happier ending, but your tongue in cheek comment reminded me of it! I thought it was quite awesome how we were treated to the views of the lake, icebergs and beach, then later, more was revealed when the clouds broke up - and the shot up that glacier to the mountain peaks was epic. It looked so much brighter up there. I'm glad you mentioned about the temperature as I was going to ask if it was cold as I imagine you being a bit wet, it'd feel even colder. We've just had a heatwave weekend - cooling down now, but there's something mental about watching cold weather videos that help cool you down. I normally go for Planet Earth's videos, anything to do with mountains in the winter or the poles, but this video did the same at the start! The tram was a bit of a surprise, even though it was in the opening to the video, when Adam said 'we're going to keep it as a surprise' and I saw the trail was called 'Emerald Lake Trail' I was like 'I bet it takes them to an Emerald Lake!' Nope! 🤣🤦♀ This video was everything I was hoping it would be, very much living vicariously through you both!! ❤
@AdventuresofAplusK2 жыл бұрын
Oh yes we definitely would have paid for her to come with us! We'd rather have her with us plus the fee for her probably would've been cheaper and easier than boarding her! We didn't even think to give her some motion sickness medicine. Maybe we'll look into that for next time! We hoped since it was a short ride she'd be fine. Nope! She did better with motion sickness on the return trip. The scene at the lake was magical! We got so lucky with the weather! When we were walking to the boat to go out we were very nervous this would all just be for exercise! That's a good idea to watch something from a cold climate when you're in hot weather. We'll have to try that out. The tram was so much fun! We wish every trail had something like that!

Oh what an awesome trip! Nothing like the Kenai. I bet that glacier comes from the Harding Ice Field, going up there would be difficult with a dog the trail is such that you will sink in ankle deep and then when the ground looks sketchy it’s solid. I got a stick and kept poking the ground when I went up there and there are these marmots who will scream if you get too close. I’ve never been to a place like that before, a ranger saw me coming down and she said oh I know where you went. It’s crazy how the colors of glaciers will change with cloudy days. Yes it’s 100 here today and I wish I was there for sure. Looking forward to the next one!

You two are pretty lucky with the breaks in the clouds and the rain! I. love how you are taking full advantage of everything Alaska has to offer. I like to say I lived in Alaska before it was cool, haha...I lived there in the late 70s to early 80s. It will always hold such a special place in my heart. I could never do another winter there and it can be so beautiful then, but I would take a summer there anytime. The Kenai Peninsula rocks!

We've gotten really lucky with the weather! On our adventures we'll have a rainy day, but then the next day will be partly sunny or clear enough to enjoy all of the scenery! Winter would be tough! another great informative video with lots of good tips about camping in bear country. Your editing skills are commendable - great story telling. This is one thing you are likely to be saying many years from now when you look back - "Man, I am so glad I/we did this when I/we were younger!" I spend a lot of time on Trip Advisor (TA) forums. I recommended your videos on the AK forum last week to someone that was looking at hiking. Found a way that did not include a url link as TA seems to delete posts with links to sites that are deemed commercial/or people earn money from. Looking forward to the next one.

Welcome to my home town! So pleased the weather cleared a bitfor you and also that Kona got to enjoy the trip as well. We had an epically sunny, hot summer here, but I am afraid it has ended. A quick note - as you drive off the spit, at the base is Kachemak Bay Drive on your right. You will see a gravel bar extending out into Mud Bay, which is accessible from Kachemak Bay Drive on your right - a great place to let Kona run if no other dogs around. Hope you enjoy Seward.

We might've caught the tail end of that weather when we arrived in Alaska in June, but ever since then it's been pretty rainy! But that doesn't stop us! Good to know that spot for next time. Thanks!

We're really enjoying your Alaskan adventures! It's been 20 years since I was up that way. Looks like it is time to head up there again soon! Kona handled the boat ride really well, it looks like (minus the seasickness). Our dog would have tried to jump in and swim.

the Mountain House rice & chicken meal is so good.. i used to work at The Prospector (clothing/gear store in AK) and would buy it on my lunch break. i even eat it at home, it's that good 😆

Killer adventure guys. You got drone shots of yourselves on the tram?!? Mad respect if you launched and landed it from the tram. 🚁
@AdventuresofAplusK2 жыл бұрын
Ya I launched it from the tram, but landed it on the other side! I normally launch and land from my hand, but thought landing it from the tram was going to be tough. I had a bad experience with our old drone launching and landing from the ground. The very first time I launched it from the ground, the day we bought it, gravel got in the gimbal and we had to take it back. So since then 99% of the time I do it by hand. Unless it's too sketchy like this time!

@@AdventuresofAplusK yeah landing it on that tram would be super tricky! I am a lot more careful with my Air2s because it was so expensive!

I've done one of those hand trams and they are fun. I loved my visit to Kenai Fjords national park - I saw so much wildlife from the boat tour I took! I hope you did too.

Yes we did! Stay tuned for that one next!

We did that hike last summer getting dropped off at Glacier Spit and picked up at the Saddle Trailhead. I would probably recommend doing it that way as the Saddle Trail is the steepest portion of the trail and you get to do it downhill. The hand cart was much more difficult than I anticipated, but a lot of fun. Be prepared for bears as we saw black bears. Probably the best hike I've ever taken.
@AdventuresofAplusK2 жыл бұрын
We didn't mind the incline, especially since the mileage was so short. It is an incredible hike! We thankfully didn't see bears, but we appreciated that there were bear boxes at the campground. I wish we would've known that beforehand so we could've left our bear can in the van. It was just an amazing trip out there! Thanks and thanks for watching!

Dancing in the moonlight? Or was that the midnight sun? Hmm....Vanilla bean with chocolate syrup:-) Thanks for the explore, although i would've had a very hard time not swinging on the tram. Next week.

We were being very careful not to drop anything in the river from the tram! It was so much fun!

I think you'll really enjoy Seward, the boats on the water in front of the snow covered mountains is a beautiful sight. If you have the time you should also check out Whitier, it's on the way back up toward Anchorage. It's a really small town but the cool thing is you have to drive through a long train tunnel to get to it. That's a really unique experience you won't get anywhere else. Alaska is a beautiful place, I've lived there twice, maybe third time will be forever.
@AdventuresofAplusK2 жыл бұрын
Yes we loved Seward, our boat tour, and the NP! We also loved Whittier and thought the tunnel was the coolest thing! Such a unique place!

Its such a crazy cowinkidink that my wife and I will be spending a week in Homer in 3 weeks,, Thanks for giving me great idea's to keep her from burying her nose in a book and sitting in a cabin the whole time ! Kachemak looks amazing. Gotta see it !
@AdventuresofAplusK2 жыл бұрын
Y'all will love it! There is tons to see and do there! If the weather was like what we had though you might want to stay inside and read while watching the rain fall outside! At least one day. Kachemak is definitely worth the trip out there! It would make for a great day trip at the least.

What an absolutely beautiful place to camp! So glad Kona got to go with you. Ok Adam, that tram crossing looked a little high, was it scary at all? Love all your adventures!
@AdventuresofAplusK2 жыл бұрын
It really was a special place! The tram was probably 20-30 feet above the water. We didn't think it was scary. It felt pretty solid and sturdy! Thanks, Loey!

Looked awesome! Could you guys hike closer to the Glacier across the beach?! Thanks for all the content always ❤️
@AdventuresofAplusK2 жыл бұрын
There wasn't really a good path to get there. The glacier is over two miles as the crow flies from the campsite and to get to it along the shoreline you'd have to do some major bushwhacking and trail blazing. Thanks!

That sunrise - WOW!!!! The mountain greens sure popped on camera - must have been jaw-dropping in person! Love that tram, too!! How challenging was that to film as you went across using the drone? Any traces of bears on the beach the next day?
@AdventuresofAplusK2 жыл бұрын
The tram was a lot of fun and it was a little nerve wracking to drone from the tram! I launched it from the drone, but landed it once we got to the other side. No, we didn’t see any bears, but did see some scat!

You had awful weather on the first day but happy that it got better on the second. Eek, I don't recommend using any tram, especially that one without 3 people minimum. People often underestimate how difficult it is especially in the middle once they start to go uphill. I'm happy someone was able to help you get back. Great footage. Wish you had rented some packrafts to hike out with you to Grewingk Glacier to give you more fun on that lake. In the winter time, depending on the ice conditions, you can ice skate on that lake. Mako's Water Taxi still operates then. Looking forward to your adventure at Exit Glacier and Harding Icefield.
@AdventuresofAplusK2 жыл бұрын
Yes, we are thankful the weather cleared up a bit! We were worried we'd be soggy the entire trip! The tram was a blast and it was a fun challenge pulling ourselves back. It was nice to have that person help us, but we would've been fine without him. 😊 Pack rafts would've been fun, but we do what we can with the time, energy, and resources we have. Can't do it all. Plus our dog Kona has never been on that small of a water vessel and that wouldn't have been the best environment to try that out. Ice skating sounds fun for those that like to do that! Thanks for watching!
