Thanks for sharing your Alaska adventures. It reminded me of our 40 year old son-who passed away 4 weeks ago. He and his wife have been adventurers-traveling all through the Rocky Mountains and always sharing their adventures with us through pictures. They put a hold on their long distance adventures 3 years ago when their son was born-though they continued hiking the Smokey Mountains-with their sweet boy on their backs-just waiting for him to get big enough for them to enjoy traveling long distances with him. Unfortunately, our good, good son was diagnosed with cancer in May and he’s gone. We have no doubt he now resides in Heaven and we’ll see him again.

Beautiful! I cried when I saw the Grand Canyon the first time, so I get it. I opened my back door one night to let my dog out, there was a huge boar standing there looking at me. Thank goodness there was at least a screen door between us. I’ve never been so scared and startled in my life! Needless to say, the dog stayed in. Lol He was after our grill.

Alaska is an adventure and a way of life. I’m so blessed to have been born and raised in Alaska. How exciting. We where always taught growing up to sing on the trails as we walk down to fish to let the bears know we are coming. When it’s fishing season the bears fish along side of you on the river. I’m so happy you got to experience this beautiful place. 💚

To see your faces when you saw the glacier brought back the same emotions that I felt when I saw the first one on an Alaskan cruise my sister and I went on in 2018. That and the fjords were breathtaking. There are no words for the feeling of seeing that and Rachel you are correct-I thought of the wonder of God as well. Makes me want to go back asap!!!! So glad you two enjoyed your trip and thank you for sharing some of it!!!!!

Thanks so much for sharing. Alaska is on my short list of places to visit. A few years ago, my daughter and I had narrowed down our first trip to either Japan or Alaska. It was to be her graduation present from high school, and then the pandemic hit. Fast forward to now, and we're thinking about travel. Our first vacation will most likely be to Alaska. Alaska is so beautiful that I could easily see myself living in those open spaces. We have a little piece of that on our homestead and are genuinely grateful to God. I pray that you see the bears while you are there.

OMG! We went there for our 30th anniversary and stayed at Land's End in Homer. We did this hike. It was amazing! My husband was in the Air Force in 1969 and the glacier at that time came all the way down to the bay. As we were hiking a bear crossed our path and ran off into the woods. He was huge but probably more afraid of us than we were of him because we were so surprised. The people in Homer are such individuals with many amazing stories to tell. Watching the guys clean the fish were so interesting.

Where you stand looking at the new trees is where they have been reforesting because when we were there almost all the trees were dead from that beetle that destroyed all the trees. It was sad, but I'm glad to see new growth.
