Just wanted to comment as I’ve seen a few vids you released before with comments saying that they don’t like the characters or the romance seems a letdown and I just want say thank you for these uploads, the effort showing this for those who will and won’t play, it’s really appreciated. And Emmrich is so wonderful

Actually, the characters are not that bad, Bellara surprised me, I liked her a lot, and I thought she was going to be annoying. But at the same time, I think the characters are overall mid, and they didn't live up to the hype that the developers were marketing them. They were marketed as the best characters never seen in Dragon Age, and to be honest, they aren't. Personally I liked them more than Inquisition' characters, but definitely not more than Origins and DA2's.

Felt like there should've been more scenes, but I feel like that for all the romances so far. It was such a nice romance though, theres a ton of chemistry here. Felt like more effort was put into this one than all three of the female romances 💀 8.5/10.

(to me) it feels like due to his writer not being complete dogshit and unlike many others at new bioware understanding how to use dialogue and scenes that it all flows naturally instead of the awkward pauses where two puppets stare at each other "romantically" before one of these robots remembers to recite the next badly written line to progress the scene. Hence the effort being put in Emmrich's romance is... simply that it feels normal from its progression/flow instead of awkward and stilted. And hat is why it sticks out like a sour thumb compared to the others. Or rather... the other romances does compared to this one 💀

​@Bloomingtide Kudos to Sylvia Feketekuty for that (if I'm not mistaken) who also wrote Josephine. Josephine's romance was always one of my favorites in Inquisition! Trick Weekes was the one who wrote Tash and Solas was his character though so wirh Solavellan hell being one of his finest work, how does their romance go?

Hate the way they write Rook during romances. Acts more like an unconfident teenager which makes it hard to immerse yourself if youre roleplaying as someone more confident in themselves. They feel a lot like Ryder from Mass Effect and I wasnt crazy about Ryder.

So if we take for example Cullen and count only romance scenes and no additional talking, it would be around 23 minutes, here all of these romances are even shorter…honestly it’s not bad, it’s pretty good but could use at least one or two addictional scenes. Just A BIT longer, to get hooked a bit better. These cuts and developping problems really are visable.

Okay... this is the first romance in Veilguard where i did not cringe at the dialogue or the flow of it. It feels the most natural of all veilguard romances in progression and narrative-wise. Helps that Emmrich's character is older and thus has less dogshit "i could go for a pumpkin spice latte" anachronistic quippy dialogue, I guess. Delighted to see that not all writers at new bioware are incompetent as hell though, but nowadays this is a very low bar to cross 💀

The game overall feels short, but I like what’s there. I have to remember the studio is much smaller than when we got previous BioWare romances, and it’s a very different type of game than the previous ones. I found myself missing a lot more of the romance content in this game so it did feel a little short.

They never discuss your age and honestly the character creator doesn't have older looking options. It has different complexions but not really anything that makes you significantly older looking. Also Varric refers to you as "kid"

While a handful of scenes at the end are a bit longer, it did leave the impression all things are much shorter. How long would you say the game is? Given the initial plans for the project and how many times they axed their dev team, I can't say I'm surprised. Still sad to see it

@@turquesa_8056 they all fall flat because there is no meat, no depth and much personality to these companions. They are more a collection of tropes instead of multifaceted characters. Feels very akin to how ME:A was, especially with rook being so awkward and the tone being so quippy and forced cheery/too modern. Emmerich is here one of the better written romances but that is not saying much regarding the overall lack of quality and nuance to find in veilguards writing 🥴

@@mlj3347 Generally going for them while being in the same faction feels a bit more interesting, it’s like you’re doing things for both of you and there are common topics to talk about. What I like about Luc as a romance option is that it’s a slowburn and it’s subtle (yeah, I’m not so much into spicy content). Also he has great fashion taste and nice pair of demonic wings so…😂
