I am utterly shocked man. All this talk and people arguing about non binary or lgbtq+ representation. And the most sexual thing in this game is kissing and 1930s visualization of having had sex. I’m not saying we need steamy raunchy events in RPGs. But if the games creators make such a big deal out of sexual representation just for pg13 scenes it feels…just…meaningless. Why promote sexual preferences and lifestyles just for handholding and kissing. This would be like someone promoting a gay romance epic like Elisa and Marcela and have them hold hands only. Safe…boring…and outdone by many previous rpgs. Even by previous dragon age origins.

I like her she’s cute it’s just a shame the romance scenes are tame and bland. Even Andromeda had more “spicy” scenes but I could tell they weren’t going to go that direction. I was afraid they would make her quirky and overly lighthearted all the time, making her stereotypical adhd. At first it looked like that, but damn, did she grow on me in the end. I have adhd and I think they've done her well. Adhd is not only quirky, forgetfullness, lighthearted and bouncy. It's also loyalty, deep emotions, strong morals, thinking outside the box and immense courage.

….i have nothing against this specific character archetype, I even like it and enjoy the interactions, but perhaps BioWare should tone down the modernist mannerisms and speech patterns in this particular genre, and very especially this type of character, It’s one of the things that often break the immersion, especially in what’s suppose to be dark fantasy. It’s a technically a very well made game, at least from what’s been released so far, only that some game design decisions clash with the overall “cohesive thematic unity” ( yes I know, it’s a rather highbrow term but I couldn’t think of anything else to describe it) I.E. big heads, Pixar graphics, the much overused Marvel snark and quips, modern speech patterns vs. medieval to early renaissance setting, Dark and gritty genre, IP’s tactical RPG roots . I do hope BioWare recognizes the faults present in the game and improves it in future titles. Some of the very best narratives and gameplay in the history of video gaming was made by this company and the people in it and, it would be very disappointing to see them go down in history as failures.

i fully agree with you, but given the generally positive reception and financial success, i find it hard to believe that bioware would see this as a chance to improve after their recent string of failures. i feel like they might just go all in on this style moving forward, something i would hate to see. they seemed to tone down some aspects to cater to a much wider audience. i dont necessarily agree with the sentiment given the success of BG3, a "classic" style rpg, but bioware hasnt been known to make the best decisions as of late.

I finished my elf shadow dragon/neve and then started another playthrough trying to commit to bellara but I want to role-playing as antivan crow who saves minrathous and goes with neve. Hahaha. Maybe I'll finally do a third one with bellara but I just spoiled myself with this. So worth it though. Bellara and neve are awesome. Didn't expect bellara to be so likeable. Bellara is a pretty spot-on depiction of ADHD. It bothers me when people complain she is "annoying" and call it "bad writing", when she's just written as a neurodivergent character without the audience being hand-held and told directly. When I saw Bellara, I immediately recognized my adhd friends in her. Wish this was more understood. This game does a lot for representation, and all the people complaining about it just goes to show, that we as a society still have a lot of work to do.

I have adhd too and I completely agree with your frustrations. However, it's not possible to make all people understand. Everybody is annoying to someone, that's how people work. It took me a long time to deal with the frustration of people calling me lazy or 'just try harder'. I'm happy they don't have these struggles. Everybody is fighting their own battles and have a different perspective of life. If I meet someone who isn't capable of understanding adhd, I wish them a nice day and walk the other way, I truly believe they can be a good and wise person within their own struggles. If they are curious I would happy explain, and I would want to know everything about their life. If not, that's okay too

Mild spoilers ahead The game tells you that starting a specific quest will trigger the endgame. This is a bit misleading, however, the endgame is VERY long and consists of multiple quests, not just one. The bed scene happens around the midpoint of the whole thing. Also, keep in mind that there are some important decisions in the first half of the endgame might make multiple companions, romantic partners included, unavailable when this scene takes place.

Where is the maturity in this game? Im in my 3rd playthrough, and still it could not be found. No sex scenes, no bloody, gory scenes. No politics like slavery or racism in Tevinter. Everyones just friends now, everyones accepted in society, elves arent being discriminated against. Dialogues are Disney level. And the worst swear word I have heard is "shit". Seriously, what about this game justifies the mature rating? Bioware, wtf..

I don't get how people enjoyed this character. Absolutely awful writting IMO. The constant need for validation, totally insecure and always needing to be reassured. Clumsy and making very childlike jokes. Repeating herself akwardly but always comes off as forced. Worst character in the game with Taash.
