The support system was the way it was in this game because the way the story was designed, you kept switching parties so often! To make matters even more complicated, many characters would change parties - this system wasn't as fun, but it was the only practical way I think.

@youtuguru I did data transfer. And just because a unit has high stats it doesn't mean they HAD to have used RNG abuse. There is such a thing as being RNG blessed... Ranulf capping every stat is ALMOST impossible without statboosters or RNG abuse, I guess I was one of the few people it happened to.

@MaeglinSilmion It's usually due to wanting less margin for error, I mean yeah, you can use Meg or Fiora, but their growths tend to give them the short end of the stick when it comes to stats, most people's allure to following the said guidelines is to help find the better units to cut down all the enemies with less of a chance of them getting killed... but any skilled tactician would know that if you don't make errors, said deaths might not happen, you never know, it IS luck

I had to keep changing supports some of the time in this game yeah. And Ranulf, I hesitated to train him but reluctantly gave him some BEXP just raise him to lvl 30 so he can rend foes.

where did I misspell Volug? If it was on another video, be so kind as to point it out there Ranulf is much easier to use then Volug, who is a member of the Fail Brigade less chance of mastery skill, but that doesn't matter when facing the tower bosses, because of Nihil, the saint class's fail defense, and the fact that Levail is defenseless when faced with long-range magic and the worst laguz are the ravens; both Nealuchi and Vika are awful

@Brawldud In fairness, Volug capped everything but magic for me. You have to be clever with BEXP, and if you leave him untransformed on the laguz-in-the-dark level he will kick his way through some 30 laguz and 24 lvlups. But really, I don't want to be one of those people who say that only some characters are worth using. They all are, that's the point of the game, right? To use strategy to fight your way to the end with your favourites. I can't understand the allure of following set guidelines.

@youtuguru -underlines best non-royal caps- I played through the game and got Volug to level 40. He only capped 2 stats, so it really doesn't matter if he had great caps, the average playthrough won't reach very many of those caps. It looks like you fell for the classic Oifey archetype. He is incredible, but is outclassed by some other laguz later in the game. Like Mordecai, or Lethe.

You are naive if you think Volug will be the ONLY one getting EXP that is actually worth it. At most, there are about two others who need this EXP more, not including Micaiah; Nolan and Zihark. Between those two guys, there is enough EXP to go around, so I don't get why he is forcing you to use Oliver or Bastian, the latter of which is pretty good compared to his competition. And Marcus rapes 95% of FE7 because he has amazing bases, good enough growths, and amazing utility; he IS better.

Weak? That means u dont know how to train laguz or that u were very unlucky, he is actually the best cat in the game, even thought cats in RD are weak cause of the transformation time, he isnt bad, and he can level up in human form very quickly if u want, mine got max speed and strenght and became a killing machine in many of my games, but I still think other laguzs like Volug are better. U can also transfer Ranulf datas from POR

Not really. The fact of the matter is that you're pretty much using personal experience to support your points. On average, Ranulf only caps THREE stats; STR at 40, SKL at 36, and lolLCK at 30. Volug caps HP at 40, SPD at 28, and lolLCK at 40. So they get equal benefits, since SKL and HP are kind of useless. Now we go BEYOND that; Volug is a great character for a team of mostly shitty characters with wtfEarth, 9 MOV, etc. Ranulf has less availability, worse affinity, and joins the mercs.

Too bad caps aren't what makes a character good, nor are only average stats. You get Ranulf for MUCH of the game on one of the hardest parts of the game by FAR. He is in a team with mostly shitty characters with around four exceptions, but he is easily the best one on his team and is clearly doing the most damage out of any of them, save the Black Knight and Nailah, but lolBK and lolroyal. Ranulf joins the GREIL GODDAMN MERCS, who don't need his help. Also, V & R has nearly identical bases.

lolLethe is lolbad. Cats are a terrible class in general thanks to a shitty transformation rate. While Ranulf may be the best out of them, that isn't saying much; lolLyre and lolLethe are his competition. Also, Volug is amazing since he is one of the only units in Part 1 who will rape 90% of the game; the 10% being endgame and even THEN, he'll still be a good unit. Also, cat caps are only MARGINALLY better than wolf caps. Why settle for okay when you can get the rape machine VOLUG?
